Learning Logs: Weeks 33&34

Somehow we missed last week! Time flies when you are having fun I guess! Here is our catch-up.

Davin:
Over the last 2 weeks I have mastered multiplication facts and division! I used Times Tales and learned the stories for the facts, so now you can ask me anything like 8x4 and I can tell you right away. Pretty cool right? In piano I had a celebration where we performed our whole book for the parents. And we got a giant symphony bar as a prize. Now we are in our new book and I am learning a song called Dragonfly Ballet. We are reading Harry Potter #1 as a family and are getting close to the end. We listen to Tennis Shoes #12 in the car, and I am reading Eerie Elementary on my own. I have worked on my spelling list and typing and Duo lingo for language arts. I also wrote a story and a stop-motion animation film on iMovie for tech time. For science we haven't really done anything except watch How Its Made documentaries. I liked the aluminum foil one and balloons. We are getting ready to move in about 6 or 7 weeks.

Koen:
I am working through my math book and it's mostly practicing writing my numbers and figuring out addition like 2+3. Also ordinals and figuring out numbers with manipulatives like tens rods and unit cubes. For language arts I am practicing reading with my mom every day. We are reading Harry Potter and I love it. I am working in my handwriting book and do some spelling words too. For piano I am still going through my book and the songs are getting harder. My favorite song is Star Wars and my favorite lesson song is Old MacDonald had a mouse.

Tessa:
For the past 2 weeks I've learned about the Vikings in history. In math I'm learning about adding and subtracting fractions and fully reducing them. I've done a ton of writing - I wrote a tragedy and a poem and a haiku, I'm writing personalized stories for my friends, and I'm reading a story that one of my friends wrote that isn't published yet but she wants my feedback on. I've finished Thunder on the Plains and playing it at my recital this week. Last week I was memorizing 2 more measure of Beauty and the Beast. I also do theory lab and sight reading sections during my lessons. I haven't done my tech course but I will get a move and get it done in the next few weeks! I have been working my dog-walking business still, though, and I'm thinking of other business opportunities like maybe selling my personalized stories, selling emergency backpacks, or doing some fund raising bake sales for charity and refugees.

Caden:
For the last 2 weeks I've worked on my Teaching Textbooks math and learned about adding and subtracting fractions and changing their denominators. This week I'm learning different ways to change the denominators. In piano I just finished my second book. My best song is Fur Elise and I also like Raindrops. For LA, I just started reading the Maze Runner and I wrote my own resume/college portfolio for one of my classes. I read Johnny Tremain for my American History co-op group and I learned about the Vikings in my ancient history group. I finished up my photoshop class last week and I'm sad to be done with it! I can't wait to learn more! I'm working on stop-motion videos with my brothers.
