Nine Emperor Gods on the 5th Day - Amoy Opera Show

20 of us in this ride some met at the temple itself and an awesome group indeed. Photo courtesy of Norman.
The Wednesday Evening Ride on Oct 09.
The group started to gather at Dataran merdeksa from 6pm for another adventure.
The route we took was an interesting route, thank to Jer Ping for the guide where we used Jalan U Thant, Jalan Hilir, Desa Pandan, went underneath Middle Ring Road neatly, Jalan Nirwana, Jalan Mewah & Bingo! we reached Ampang Town.
Norman armed with a powerful camera for the evening.
Thanks to John Kang for recommending this food court for our dinner.
Nasi Lemak seems to be the favourite choice among us.....
We definitely made heads turn with a group of funny looking visitors wearing helmets entering into the food court.
So this is the Amoy Opera show ..... in the temple itself. I used to see this as Teochew Opera during my teen days back in my hometown.
It is so nice to know that such tradition or culture is still around and I hope it will stays forever.

There were so many devotees in the temple the fragant smoke from the joss stick fumes was so dense that could make you cry.
All for the good prayers by these devotees.
Business opportunity for some of the many traders.
Someof the interesting petty trading in the temple.

On the way back we stopped by at KLCC to view at the International icon of Malaysia, Twin Towers of KLCC
Another good ride despite the threatening weather we went there dry and came back dry. Most importantly everyone of us came back safely from riding in the mad city.

Nine Emperor Gods Festival Ampang - My First Encounter

Lightning bolts for my first encounter of a Nine Emperor Gods Festival and a popular one in Kuala Lumpur at Ampang Town.

We started from PDRM Golf Club Titiwangsa and made our way to Ampang via Pulapol, Kg Datuk Keramat and Jalan Ampang.
A dinner was scheduled and we picked a strategic location at the bend of Jalan Besar of Old Ampang town. Here we could see the procession to and fro from the temple to the river while waiting for our dinner.
It was the eve of the celebration and the place was happening with tremendous crowd. I was glad I decided to come for the first time.
The procession was about to receive the emperor gods to the temple from a river side.
Such a lively procession comprising of many different groups.
One the most interesting parts of the procession.
the swinging chariot.
and many more floats, dragon & lion dances

street foods were everywhere.
Supper time after the end of of the procession.
the celebration will continue for 9 days and we shall be back on one of the Wednesdays.
