Affaires Nomades

Hi.  My name is Fumika.

I work with textiles, specializing in interior decor. I became interested in textiles while working as a set designer at theatres. I create drawings and work them on to various materials, depending on the object.  I especially like  linen and hemp.

My brand is called “Affaires Nomades” and I got the name from my fascination for the nomadic life.  I want to explore the idea of interior design as a reflection on voyages and nature.  In this way, the question is how to integrate my drawings on to the fabric by using various methods.

The first series of my collection is called "Fragments", original drawing designs made by my self, printed on fabric in France, limited editions.

Care:  Hand wash, first in cold water, then at 30 ° C recommended.
Most of the pillows listed in my Etsy shop include the inserts so that you can use them immediately.  But do not hesitate to ask me if you prefer only the covers to save on shipping.

Artist's statement:  Constant experimentation in seach of new techniques and ideas.  Objects that inspire our dreams.  I want to explore the idea of interior design as a reflection on voyages and nature.

Zamirte - Natalie Magnin

I'm Belgian and live in the South of FRance since 2002. I love the peaceful nature here!!

I studied textile art and that's how my passion for felting started. It's the whole process of deying the wool, choosing the right colour combinations, materials, and the creation itself that I like.  I adore the brightness of silk, the texture of fiber, the colours of nature in spring, all of the nuances in the sky, and the colour of rust. I like to try out the effects of plant dyes on different fabrics and I especially love the rust dying.

I have a great respect for Slow Cloth!

Dreamkaravan

I've always been creative and inspired by our world heritage.  I love beautiful textiles, rich patterns, colors and cultural symbolism.  With them, I feel the connection in space and time between women (and men!)  whose loving skills were transmitted and shared during generations.

Like the ancient silk roads, the internet can offer us the place to share our creative inspiration and bring beauty to the world.

For my lucky charms or "marvel catchers" (as I have named them), I have been inspired by the talismans and magic items that you can find all over the world, particularly in Central Asia, Asia and Africa.

Artist's statement:  I enjoy offering my lucky charms as an opportunity to express tenderness and gratitude for loved ones. They could be wonderful gifts also for someone going through some challenging time or to accompany your life changes and heart's desires. A secret pocket is enclosed in some of them to hide some personal item or enlightening words written on a piece of paper...

The ideals of my generation were self-realisation and freedom. I feel that now the time has come to rediscover the power of simplicity and care for each other. My items aim to serve as the support of intentions, blessings or are reminders of love and beauty.

Ariane Mariane

Independent textile artiste Ariane Mariane creates “fiber art to wear” in her French atelier near Paris. She makes outstanding and eco-friendly garments and accessories of high quality.

Each item is handmade mostly by nuno felting. Only the smoothest merino wool, finest fabrics (silk, linen, and cotton) and best fibers are employed.

Her joyful line of unique and one of a kind pieces are meant to dress unique, special and individual women - women for whom fashion is an art and a statement.

Artist's statement:  Ariane Mariane’s “fiber art to wear” has a graphic spirit. Her garments and accessories are a support for expressing her “collage inspired” art. To underline the pictorial approach she works with beautiful but easy / sober silhouettes which can be adapted in different ways. Versatile and reversible, her garments invite playfulness and reconcile us to the fun fashion should be.

By draping her garments around the body, two dimensional becomes three dimensional - from a picture to a sculpture. We are invited to complete the art work by adding our unique body shape and our imagination. It’s the wearer who gives the final touch to the creation by draping it and by choosing how to assemble the piece with other clothing.

Ariane Mariane: “With my eco-friendly garments and accessories I want to transmit happiness and playfulness. Fashion for me should be art, fashion should be fun and fashion should make this life a bit brighter!”

In Ariane Mariane’s approach fashion is a statement and completely timeless.

Forming the rhythm of different colors, shades and forms is fascinating. Rhythm (just like fiber) is there in all forms of life and connects them with the Universe.   When we see dancers, we can observe that the foot, the hand, the head, and the hip moves in geometric lines, curves, triangles, circles and ovals. This geometry, even if somewhat strict, never harms life, for it stands for freedom, not for forceful constraint or restriction. Order is not machine-like, but rhythmical, flowing like a dance.  Winter and summer, right and left, up and down, day and night all function In the name of this rhythm.

I have tried fibers and threads of different types, qualities and thickness, and different weaving techniques in order to produce different surfaces that are pleasant to the touch and pleasing to the eye. So instead of the usual notice “Don’t touch”, these tapestries should have one next to them that says: “Important to touch”.

 ***
