World Hijab Day (WHD)

Greetings from Malaysia,

Am back from my hiatus..Been very busy juggling a lot of things here..This is something that I wanted to do for so long, but never had a chance to make it until recently..I intended to do something else for the map on the face, but since I had started almost half way, I just finished it up..Still satisfied with the end product..

"The brainchild of this movement is a New York resident, Nazma Khan, who came up with the idea as a means to foster religious tolerance and understanding by inviting women (non-Hijabi Muslims/non-Muslims) to experience the hijab for one day. For many people, the hijab is a symbol of oppression and segregation. By opening up new pathways to understanding, Nazma hopes counteract some of the controversies surrounding why Muslim women choose to wear the hijab."

Another typography in a frame

Another typography in a modified frame..I use a cardboard to create the same effect as the IKEA frame..

If you notice, I used the letter 'N' for my tutorial on how to create the swirls spanning the letter 'M' in my previous post..The upside down heart is actually pink, with black spiral..Dunno how it looks all black here..

The side view of it..

It looks like it pops out, right?

Another quilling typography in frame

Was so furious with the fact that the owner received this after her wedding..This was supposed to be the centerpiece for the table where her guests would write down their wishes..

Sorry for the blurry picture..It's official..My cameras were stolen..
Had to use my phone to capture this picture..

Am preparing for my viva, which is scheduled on 18/1..Wish me luck..

Another quilling typography in frame

I forgot where I put all of my three cameras..Can you imagine? Therefore, I snapped some pictures using my mobile phone..Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures and also the overall pictures (Thought I had the whole frame, but I didn't..Thanks to the panic attack..Sigh)

My apology as the picture is a bit tilted..

As requested by a sister to be given to her baby sister..

When I'm stressed, I quill

I can tell that I'm really under a lot of pressure right now as I managed to make this..Although it took awhile, guess it's worth it..Why did I choose bakery? Well, the answer is simple - Cause I can't bake (^__^) I can only use my imagination to create the cakes that I wanted to have in real life..So this  is what I've got..

Cake, anyone?

Let them eat cake..

..at Syaz Bakery (^__^)

Where assortment of cakes can be found..

So which one do you prefer?

My most favourite? The blue cake with the polka dots of course
(That explains the small heart next to it)..

But you might like this..

Or these too..

Thanks for viewing..Have a nice day (^__^)

More frame

I made this for my niece..Her mom wanted to have butterfly and heart like the one that I made before..It's just that she would like to have it framed with pink and black theme..So, here it is..

To ensure that it's different from my previous creation, I made some changes to the butterfly and the heart so they won't look the same..

At first, there were only the butterfly and the heart..However, the frame looked somewhat empty, so I decided to include the typography..My niece's name is Anis Batrisya and that explains the 'A' and 'B' as they are the initials of her name..

The difficult part was to think of how to come out with this design so that I don't repeat the heart design that I created prior to this..

I'm definite that we don't have any butterfly like this, but I somehow think it's unique to have one like this (^__^) I believe that this post somehow has some rhymes in it..Haha..

Doodling around

I haven't been sketching or drawing for quite some time..So when I was watching tv, I would ensure that my hands work..And this is the result..

At first, the bees and the small plant were not there as I just wanted to focus on the love birds..However, the gap between the trees was an eyesore (for me)..So I included them in the picture..

I couldn't run from having pink..

..and blue to represent the female and male respectively (^__^)

The hardest part was to come out with these small creatures, especially the bees..But my friends said they're cute..Well, I guess it's worth it..The plant was replicated from the one that I created before..

Sweet Leaves Blog Hop

I was extremely busy this week that I only realised the blog hop was two days to go when one of the Malaysian quillers, (Kak) Lin asked me about it. I love the theme - LEAVES! This theme fits the "2011 Environment Week" that will be held in our university in two weeks time.

For this project, I just used simple leaf techniques. My attention was to make the leaves as the main attraction and to spread the message - Love our greenery. Making cards require us to use a lot of papers, so I'll ensure that I make full use of everything. I keep all unwanted papers and send them to the recycling centre (Thanks to my mom for this habit)..It's the least I can do to help the mother earth..

Anyway, back to the real deal..There are 22 quillers from 6 different continents that participate in this blog hop..You can see all quillers in the list provided at the bottom of this entry..Then you can start hopping from one blog to another..This is what I came out with for this blog hop..

I made some modification to the picture frame and add some cardboards to create the effect..My apology for the reflection of myself on the mirror (Couldn't avoid that)..

The flower that I have here was made prior to the one that I had before..

I just had nothing for the background as I wanted the colour to pop out..

There are many layers involved..

Notice the stand for the small leaf? There's another one under the flower..That's the trick..

These two make good companions to the leaves..

Hope they look like leaves to you (>__<)

Thank you for hopping by here and also million thanks to Sandra for hosting this blog hop..Your next stop for this blog hop is "Daydreams" by Suganthi..She has shared a lot of information and techniques on quilling..What's best about her is she shares some techniques that only require you to use the things that you have around you (If you don't have the specific tools)..

Below is the full blog hop list..If you get lost along the way, or if someone doesn't have his or her project ready yet, you can always return here and get back on track:
