Winter Birdhouse

I had visions of a row of birdhouses all looking different similar to the famous houses in San Fran. The painted ladies... Well only one made it onto my card. This card was created for the Caardvarks Circle of Friends challenge.

The background was sponged on the bottom and top. The bottom was sponged with a purple and blue dye ink. The top was just the blue.

Recipe:

  1. Stamp Flourish on white cardstock with versamark and heat with clear embossing powder.
  2. Sponge with blue and purple dye inks.
  3. Cut out circle and rip across the edge.
  4. Rip little piece for snow drift on the post.
  5. Cut out other circle and sponge lightly with blue dye ink.
  6. Stamp snowflakes randomly with versamark and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
  7. Sponge over snowflakes with same dye ink.
  8. Punch snowflakes from purple dye ink background.
  9. Cut 1 1/4" x 2" rectangle of white cardstock.
  10. Stamp swirls on rectangle using plum dye ink.
  11. Stamp definition stamp on white cardstock using blue dye ink. Cut 1/8 " strip.
  12. Cut two 1/8" x 1 1/4" pieces for the roof. Glue the tips together and attach to top of the birdhouse. Trim corners of birdhouse off.
  13. Punch border of blue stamped definition and trim to fit bottom of the bird house.
  14. Use hole punch to create bird hole!

So easy and addictive. I still have 3 other fancy birdhouses that didn't make it onto the card. It is too much fun making creative birdhouses... (victorian, ranch, tudor...)

Inspired by...

Here's my second inspired by card.. Tiffany is another wonderful artist and she is very clever with creating her card projects. Here is her card that inspired mine. http://www.flickr.com/photos/myfairytalebook/3222659817/ Spend a few minutes wandering through her gallery on flickr and you will be amazed.

Take a look at that flower, notice anything? I also wanted to highlight the little black tag. Andi just sent me a bag of goodies and these little puffy tags were in there! So fun, so I added it just for effect!

Kwerner Challenge #50

I made 3 cards using Kristina's 50th color challenge http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=1333 and can only submit one link so I decided on this one:
The colors were brown, red, yellow, turqouise, and white... Here is the card I am linking to her challenge.

The vines are stamped with yellow first and overlaid with a brown to give a shadow effect.
I cut several of the vines and used them for the stems of the flowers.

Happy Easter and a little Spring!

Time for another of Kristina Werner's color challenge... http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=1274 which encompasses these colors:

Love the bright colors on these. I am truly inspired by colors in addition to new stamps. :)

There are these lovely birds from Inkadinkado which are so much fun because of the circles and swirls built into them.

I decided to ink up a bird and use it as my focal point for these colors. I really feel the bird reminds me of a robin because of her bright red chest.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! Spring is a time to renew and rejoice!

Happy Easter!

Teal, Brown, Light Green...

These cards all started from a color challenge and veered off to a little darker palette. I ended up making two cards as I was playing around. This happens to me a lot when I am creating, I end up with major scraps and this time I decided to create two cards that look very similar but with two different layouts.

Card # 1
Card # 2

Unfortunately the vintage paper photographs so much darker and the stamping is really a lovely layer ontop of it.

Friendship

Here is my second entry for the Hero Arts Blog Challenge this week for friendship. I found this scrap I had stamped. (The background in light green) which was stamped with the same stamp in light green and dark green on both sides. (Ha!) Which didn't make it onto another card. I love this Designblock from Hero Arts it is spread out enough that it makes a beautiful lacy background.

I have been very bad and went shopping today... See the fringe on the bottom and the fancy lavendar doily circle? New Fiskars corner punch. :(

It is very pretty and I bought it at 40% off (Jo Ann's).

The recipe is very simple so I will just share the products with you.

  • Hero Arts - Friends Background
  • Hero Arts Sparkle Clear - Mini Messages

Here Comes the Bride...

This is a stamp from Penny Black that I think is beautiful. I love the simplicity of the dress and the bride. I sketched up a card the other night with this design and she fit beautifully into the sketch. The flowers around the edges are embossed with an iridescent clear embossing powder to give it some more sparkle.

The card is a gatefold card (5 1/2" x 5 1/2"). The stamped image is attached to the band that slides onto the card.

  • Penny Black - All White
