I merged the Embellish Tags & Color Challenge with the City Crafter Challenge - By the Sea to create this seafaring card.
I love this old lighthouse from the Artistic Outpost Beyond the Sea plate. It is so fun to color. The sentiment is a new one from Verses Rubber Stamps - QQ1203-E Salt of the Ocean. The background music is from the Artistic Outpost Ephemeral Backgrounds plate.
I had a lot of fun embossing the kraft cardstock and distressing it with the white acrylic paint. The image is colored using distress / dye inks with a dash of the white paint over top.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Caardvarks - Circle of Friends - II
Caardvarks challenge is circle of friends which is creating a circle card. This card started from a scrap idea on another card which I haven't shared yet. (Pending another challenge.)
This lovely antique background is embossed with clear embossing to resist the dye ink sponged over it.
This is going to some good friends of ours with whom we exchange ornaments. It is designed to be a card and then can be hung on their tree if they choose to.
Imagine the areas that look like black are actually a deep chocolate brown. Maybe one of these days I will use the light brown paper so it looks like dark brown when I take my picture. :)

I added the tag and the ribbon after I had finished the card to turn it into an ornament. The backside of the card is a off-white circle for us to write our holiday wishes!

Winter Birdhouse
I had visions of a row of birdhouses all looking different similar to the famous houses in San Fran. The painted ladies... Well only one made it onto my card. This card was created for the Caardvarks Circle of Friends challenge.
Suzz
The background was sponged on the bottom and top. The bottom was sponged with a purple and blue dye ink. The top was just the blue.
Recipe:
- Stamp Flourish on white cardstock with versamark and heat with clear embossing powder.
- Sponge with blue and purple dye inks.
- Cut out circle and rip across the edge.
- Rip little piece for snow drift on the post.
- Cut out other circle and sponge lightly with blue dye ink.
- Stamp snowflakes randomly with versamark and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
- Sponge over snowflakes with same dye ink.
- Punch snowflakes from purple dye ink background.
- Cut 1 1/4" x 2" rectangle of white cardstock.
- Stamp swirls on rectangle using plum dye ink.
- Stamp definition stamp on white cardstock using blue dye ink. Cut 1/8 " strip.
- Cut two 1/8" x 1 1/4" pieces for the roof. Glue the tips together and attach to top of the birdhouse. Trim corners of birdhouse off.
- Punch border of blue stamped definition and trim to fit bottom of the bird house.
- Use hole punch to create bird hole!
So easy and addictive. I still have 3 other fancy birdhouses that didn't make it onto the card. It is too much fun making creative birdhouses... (victorian, ranch, tudor...)

The Caardvark's challenge http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/2009/05/dont-quote-me-but.html is to use a quote on a card. This card is actually a circle card. I laid it on brown cardstock to show off the colors.
I love this little black and white flower stamp from Hero Arts. It makes such a beautiful background!

I have a second card using the same techniques (Sponging, Resist) but with a very different feel coming along. If work lets up a little I will try to finish it tonight so I can share with you tomorrow.
Have a great day!

Kristina's Color Challenge # 37
Kristina's Challenge http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/2009/01/color-inspiration-37.html is from these pencils....
What wonderful colors... I decided to pull out some die cuts and layer different shapes. I started with circle card. This actually is 2 circles and I folded the back circle a little and attached it to the front to make a card. (A tip picked up from Lisa S) I then used several other shapes. The butterfly is stamped using pigment ink on vellum. The butterfly is embossed using Ranger Distress Embossing powder (Vintage Photo). I love it as it leaves a beautiful texture which actually emulates the texture on a butterflies wings.
