A BIT OF METALWORK

Hello Monday Peeps..... Again !!!

Over at SMUDGY ANTICS this fortnight, the Challenge is to use some METAL. It can be real, faux, recycled cans etc. all that kinda' stuff.
I have gone for a backing of the inside of a Greek cake box, which is like crinkled tin. I put it through my new MBossaibilities folder from Spellbinders - 'Creative Cogs' then I put some Alcohol inks on it. When they dried I smurged some Black Stayzon over the top to bring out the embossing a bit more.
The images are from SMEARED INK....  'Open Corset' from the SI Heavy Metal Set and the lady is part of one of my exclusive digis for SI... 'Mirror, Mirror'.  I fussy cut all the bits out of the corset and mounted the sides on 3D foamies with a slight bend, so the front bulges out a bit. My lady is also mounted on foamies. Sentiment  I made myself.

GLITTER AND GORE

Hello Sunday Peeps,
Here is my piece I have made for the Glitter & Gore Challenge over at SMUDGY ANTICS. I have been having a bit of a creative block recently but got inspired last night and this one has come out quite well. I have used 'MoonStruck' from the Movie Madness range by SMEARED INK (drawn by me :-D) and a couple of heads from the 'Gross Anatomy' set.
I coloured her digitally and then printed her 4 times and fussy cut for 3D effect. I used glitter on my moon and on parts of the sky. I coloured the heads using Copics.

Here's a closer one trying to show the glitter on the moon !! I think you can just about see it, but if I use too much flash it bounces off. Glitter is a bit of a bugger to try and photograph and it definitely don't scan !!! :-D

I made up a sentiment and smurged some red ink over it for a draggy blood type effect for added gore :-D
I am hoping I will get my Mojo back soon as everything is such a bloomin' struggle just now :-(
Anyhoo, thanks for looking and I'll see you later xxxx

BEATING HEART ATC

Happy Monday Peeps,
Today I have done an ATC for the BEATING HEARTS ATC Challenge over at SMUDGY ANTICS.
I have used 'Cracked Heart' from the Heart Wings Set by SMEARED INK. I printed it out 4 times and decoupaged it up to make it 3D then covered it with Glossy Accents.
The DP I used for the envelope on the front is from Scrap With Lynn . I cut the letters for 'Love' from different books and magazines and hand wrote 'Letters'. I tied it with a scrap of ribbon from my stash :-)

On the inside I also used the word 'Heart' from the Heartwings Set and wrote the rest of the sentiment in a Font called 'Blood'. :-D

SMUDGY ANTICS CHALLENGE - SCRAP IT UP

Happy Monday Peeps.... here we are virtually into the New Year :-)

Welcome back for another challenge with Smudgy Antics

The challenge theme this fortnight is
"SCRAP IT UP!"
Using at least one stamped image (real or digi) and following the rules posted on the left sidebar, we at Smudgy Antics challenge you to use your leftovers.  It's the green thing to do.  Don't let anything go to waste!  You can use your paper scraps, but feel free to use leftover wrapping paper, paper rolls, gift bags, gift boxes and more from the holiday season.

You can stick with paper crafting or you can go three dimensional.  The more creative, the better.  We love it when you guys and gals think outside the box!

Today I made a Tag................ I used some scraps for the background (can't remember where these papers are from ) My good friend SUSAN S sent me a little pack of goodies - based on fortune telling - and I have used a couple of bits on here. I made some more sentiment tabs to match the font of the one she sent me. My Bats were leftovers from a big project I did a couple of weeks back. These are from the "Little Bit Batty Set" by SMEARED INK. I stuck them onto little strips of acetate so they look like they are flying out the door. You can't really see that well on the photo :-)

I hope you will come over to SMUDGY ANTICS to see what my DT Sisters have made for you and to play along with us. You must have loads of scraps to use up - right ???!!
This is my last creation as a DT Member for Smudgy Antics coz I want to concentrate more on drawing my designs for SMEARED INK, but I shall still be hanging around in the SMEARED & SMUDGED FORUM and playing along hopefully with some of the Challenges, so I am not really going anywhere LoL  :-)

SMUDGY ANTICS CHALLENGE - DISTRESS IT

Happy Monday Peeps...

Welcome back for another challenge with Smudgy Antics!
The challenge theme this week is
DISTRESS IT.

Using at least one stamped image (real or digi) and following the rules posted on the left sidebar, we at Smudgy Antics challenge you to relieve some stress by distressing items to make art.

You can stick with paper crafting or you can go three dimensional.  The more creative, the better.  We love it when you guys and gals think outside the box!
Well this week my mind was elsewhere and I started a project for the old theme ..pfftttt LoL !!!  I managed to change it though by adding some old book roses and leaves at the base. I distressed them with TH distress inks.  Psssst... don't tell the other DTs coz I think I got away with it LoL snigger !!!
I made this 'Bat' Christmas Tree  or is it a Batmas Tree hahahahaha using images from 'A Little Bit Batty' set from SMEARED INK of course :-) I resized them down from 8" to 3" at the top to make a tree shape and then added just a bat head instead of a star. The bats were printed one side flipped so that I could stick them together.
I used another old CD storage case and poked some wire down the centre stick and secured with hot glue. Then I covered the wire and stick in blood red satin material. I stuck on my bats and them painted them with glitter varnish (you can't see that in the pic). At the base I used die cuts to cut 2 different kinds of leaves. I distressed them with TH 'Peeled Paint' green distress inks. Then I made some old book pages roses and distressed them with TH 'Vintage Photo' ink. The roses go all around the back too. Lastly I added a big bow and voila !!!

The whole project is 15" tall and 5" across the base. I think I might put this on my Chrimbo table unless anyone wants it ???!!!!
Please pop over to SMUDGY ANTICS and see the gorgeous creations my Smudgy Sisters have to show you and join in with us too :-D xxxx

SMUDGY ANTICS CHALLENGE + DAY 2 of 12 DAYS OF CREEPMAS

Good morning and Happy Monday Peeps,

I have a bit of a 2'fer going on today.... SMUDGY ANTICS DT piece for this week + DAY 2 of the 12 DAYS OF CREEPMAS with Smeared & Smudged. You should have arrived here on the Hop from the  Joyous JENN....................
This week at SMUDGY ANTICS our Challenge is to Alter Something. Now, ordinarily I hate this theme coz I can never think of what to do !!! I look around and have shedloads of schtuff that I hoard but when it comes down to it I can't think of what to do :-( I spend hours trawling sites on the Web for inspiration and then end up with nothing.!
This time however, was a little less of a struggle.... I had stashed away a couple of those plastic case thingies that you get stacks of blank CDs/DVDs  in ... one of my moments of "hmmmm, they might come in useful"  - you know what I mean ?
So, I had this crazy idea about bats flying up out of a cave or something, so I used the base with the long stick thingy as my start. I printed out loads of bats from the 'Little Bit Batty Set' from SMEARED INK. I had to flip print them so that they were on both sides when I stuck them together. I altered the sizes a bit to try and get perspective. I made some cala lillies out of clay and then stuck those to the stick bit. I hot glued a couple of coils of fishing line to the base and threaded it through the holes at the top of the stick.  My bats were attached to the fishing line by sticking the two halves together to sandwich the line. Then I made some pebbles out of clay, painted them with water colours and glued them down on the base, then added a little varnish. I was quite pleased with how it came out. I have got the plastic tube bit (like the one it's sitting on for the photo) but it's not quite clear enough when I put it back on this base, so I left it off for the photo :-) Anyways, here it is....

Here's a bit of a close-up....

Now, this is also my project for DAY 2 of the 12 DAYS OF CREEPMAS. I got some Chrimbo ribbon round the bottom and I cut out some holly leaves with my Craft Robo. I was thinking if I put some snazzy wrapping paper in the bottom, it might make an alternative table decoration centrepiece :-D ... what do you think ???  LoL.

So, we would love it if you came over and played along with us this week and even joined in with hopping on the 12 DAYS of CREEPMAS to see what my Smudgy Sisters have to show you. The Blog Roll is over here on my side bar......................................................>>>>>> Up a little bit now !!  but your next stop should be Cracking CANDACE.... she had the most amazing Christmas stocking for Day 1... you just gotta' see it !!!! :-)

SMUDGY ANTICS - REPTILE RAMPAGE

Welcome back for another challenge with Smudgy Antics. First we must congratulate last week's winner........... Donna, with her Time Stands Still creation... Awesome xx
Photobucket
The challenge theme this week is "REPTILE RAMPAGE".

Reptile: 1.) Any various cold-blooded, usually egg-laying vertebrates of the class Reptilia (think snake, lizard, crocodile, turtle, dinosaur, or dragon).
Reptile:  2.) A person being regarded as despicable or treacherous.

Rampage:  Violent or excited behavior that is reckless, uncontrolled, or destructive.

We are asking you to incorporate the spirit of a reptile rampage into your project for the week.  There are several directions you can take this prompt.  You can use an image of a reptile or you can use papers or textures that resemble a reptile's skin, or in the case of a turtle, its shell.  You can throw caution to the wind and get reckless in the creation of your project by ripping, tearing, and distressing a project almost to the point of destruction while still maintaining an awesome piece.  This theme would be great for art journal pages too.  Show us, through your art, a time where you may have been reckless or on a rampage.  Too much?  How about doing a journal piece or ATC about someone or something you regard as despicable or treacherous?  If it is NOT EVIDENT as to how you used the challenge theme REPTILE RAMPAGE in your project, please explain it in your blog post.

This week I used one of the new digis I have drawn for SMEARED INK - "Snake Woman"
I put her on some snakeskin backing paper and made a couple of clay snakes for a frame.
I coloured her with my new Prismacolour pencils with some Copic highlights :-)

It would be great to see you come play with us this week and take a look at the scaly creations my Smudgy Sisters have to show you :-)

SMUDGY ANTICS' TWISTED SISTERS :-D

We have had a change in the challenges rules.... there is no longer a randomly drawn winner or a Top 3  chosen from those who used a SMEARED INK image.... now we are having just a WINNER.... voted for by the members of the SMEARED INK design team.
Thanks to all those who entered our challenge this week, we enjoyed checking out your creations, so much variety and inspiration.
So now without further ado..... Our winner of the TIC-TAC-TOE challenge is....DONNA.  Many congrats to her and here is her winning piece :-D

Now, the challenge theme this week over at SMUDGY ANTICS is  "TWISTED SISTER".
How twisted can you get?  We want to see your dark or naughty side come out to play.  There's no need to hide or be squeamish, we are all freaks here...at least that's what those in The Land of Matilda say about us.

I wear my Freak Show Badge with pride and so should you (click this link to get your own freak show button)!  Heck, art is art.  I make gruesome things, but that doesn't make me a mass murderer.  It just means I am diverse in my creative process.  My mates make alternative works as well.  Come on, dive in and have some fun!  Screw the pretty, fluffy crap!  Save that for those other challenges.  We like it gritty around here...and TWISTED!

I have used a new digi that I drew for SMEARED INK - just especially for this Challenge. I have coloured my girls digitally in PSE. The background is called 'Deep Inside' and I have also used 'The Grate' from the Quoth The Raven Set.

I hope you will come over and see what my Smudgy Sisters have to show you this week and play along with us and get your 'Freak' on  :-)

TIC TAC TOE AND AWAY WE GO

Happy Monday Peeps,
I am back after a short hiatus and I hope you are all well ? :-D
Today over at SMUDGY ANTICS, our Challenge is TIC TAC TOE... easy right ??  You just pick a line of 3 in any direction from the grid and then make anything your heart desires using what it says. Simples  :-D There are some new Rules for the Challenges now, so don't forget to pop over at take a look on the Smudgy Antics Blog so you can be in with a chance of winning a prize :-)

Here is the grid;

I chose 3D, Monochrome and Glitter, and I made this ATC using "SHEBA" from the Gargoyles Set by SMEARED INK

I coloured him digitally, then printed him out and fussy cut him into 8 layers to make him 3D. I stuck the pieces with Silicone glue. I used a stamp and embossing powder in Old Gold on my ATC and then glued the edge and dipped it in gold sparkle glitter. I also used glitter on Sheba's collar and bell. I haven't actually done any heat embossing for a long time, so it was quite refreshing to get some other schtuff out for a change :-)
Now I have glitter everywhere LoL To finish him off I painted him with glitter glue to make him shiny and sparkly - mind you, that does kind of mank up your photograph !!  Still - I think you can see him OK :-D

Congrats to our Winner from last week..... JULIA....... she gets a coupon to spend at SMEARED INK.
I hope you will come over and play along with us this week at SMUDGY ANTICS - see you there :-D x

2'FER

Happy Monday Peeps,
Today my offering is my DT piece for both SMUDGY ANTICS and HAUNTED DESIGN HOUSE  HDH155.
I have used a gravestone as the main base coz at HDH this week our theme is "RIP". This comes from a digital scrapbook kit but I just printed it out as normal after making it the size I wanted.

The Challenge Theme for Smudgy Antics is
"Dia De Los Muertos".

THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN THE RULES.
There will be no more top 3 or random winner.
Our Design Team will vote for ONE winner and that person will receive both a blog button and prize. You do not have to use a Smeared Ink image to win.  We pick the best of the entries so bring your A-game!

The image is one of my new digis for SMEARED INK... ' Dia de Los Muertos 2' and I coloured her with Copics and Aquamarkers.

See how my little carved aubergine is coming along too !!  Now that the fruit flies have gone, he is drying out nicely and getting uglier by the day LoL  :-D xxx
This is what he looked like before.... I must admit I did laugh when his eyes dropped out !!!   bwaahahahaha !!

SMUDGY ANTICS - MOVIE MADNESS

Happy Monday Peeps,

I have actually got my butt in gear and completed my DT projects for this week - YaY !!
Here is my first one... Movie Madness at SMUDGY ANTICS.
We are still doing the weekly Challenges along with 31 Days of Halloween and I must say that all the Girls on that are working like the clappers. There are some awesome pieces on show, so why not pop over at have a look..... 31 Days of Halloween with SMEARED INK at SMEARED & SMUDGED FORUM. There are Scavenger Hunt Prizes to be one and the whole thing is a feast for your eyes. Soooo much gorgeous work and a definite inspiration.
So, today is Movie Madness Day. If you didn't know, I am now an artist for SMEARED INK and I draw exclusive images for them that you can't get anywhere else - some of them on the slightly darker side LoL
Here's the new stuff :-)  (Click on pic to enlarge)..

This is using one of my latest in the New Releases, done specially for this Challenge. It is inspired by The Cask of Amontillado, which is a story by Edgar Allan POE and was also made into a couple of films.
I coloured my image with Copics, and snagged a clapperboard from the Web. The film strip I bought from Linda at Scrapcat. She has so many cartridges for her Cricut, she sells die-cuts, which is awesome coz I don't have one of those :-)

Here we are:

Now, I hope you will pop over to SMUDGY ANTICS and play along with us this week.Art is inspired by many things and we want to see what kind of inspiration you can get from a movie. Being October, I would suggest a scary or creepy movie of some sort. If you insist on making a Tinkerbell type project - which will surely result in projectile vomiting from Lady B - then feel free to do so.
*We do ask that you state the name of your movie of choice, in case it is not evident to others looking at your project :-)
See you there :-D x

SMUDGY ANTICS - SUGAR & SPICE

Happy Monday and welcome to this week's Challenge over at SMUDGY ANTICS............ Sugar & Spice.
I must say I was a bit stumped for ideas at first and seemed to get more Mojo-less as this weekend drew near :-( Maybe coz' my illness flared up and knocked me for six this weekend. I have got my project up and finished though, so all is well. Maybe I'll creep back off to bed now though coz I am still not quite right !!  :-D xx
I have used one of my new digis which is exclusive to SMEARED INK.....'Succubus 3'.
printed her off twice and coloured her with Copics. Then I scanned her back into my computer and melded them together. I have also used some Roses from the 'Flower King' set also by SI. The background papers are from Crafty Chaos Designs.

I hope you will come and join us this week and also take a look at what my other Smudgy Sistahs have made for you to see. :-) xxxxxx

SMUDGY ANTICS - EVIL ALICE

Hello and Happy Monday and welcome to this week's Challenge over at SMUDGY ANTICS.

This week's challenge theme is:
"EVIL ALICE".
It seems Alice is huge these days!  Alice is everywhere!  She has video games, challenge blogs, tag and ATC swaps and who knows what else...all devoted to her and Wonderland!  That girl gets tons of attention!  We expect to see lots of entries this week.  Of course, being Smudgy Antics, we like things that are on the dark or edgy side of the art world.  Smeared Ink has made their own collection of AIW and let me tell you, Alice is all grown-up now!  You can find these jaw-dropping creations in the shop now.  I provided the link for the entire set, but these can be purchased as singles as well.  Trust me, you will want them all!  They are Hot!

We at Smudgy Antics challenge you to make the most mind-blowing AIW piece you can.  Make it evil, make it twisted, or make it seductive.  All of that will work.  Just stay away from the safe and cute stuff.  Save that for the other challenge blogs and tap into your dark side.  We dare you!
For my offering this week I used one of the new images called 'Rabbit'. Click Pic to enlarge...

I used the backing card from a stencil set I bought coz I like the clock, two cut outs from my New Xcut - one with Rabbit on it. I coloured it using Copics, pencils and baby oil :-) Thanks for the idea Helen xx
My eyes are from a Dilly Beans image and I have set them into flowers cut with a die.

I hope you will come over and play this week. :-)

SMUDGY ANTICS MONDAY - ITSY BITSY SPIDER

Happy Monday,

This week we want you to turn nursery rhymes
 into something scary or creepy.

The more twisted, the better!  Make the little hairs on the back of our necks stand on end.  Make a project that is nightmare worthy.  Please source the nursery rhyme you are using or better yet, write out the rhyme in your blog post for those that may not be familiar with nursery rhymes.
Most importantly, have fun!

Be sure to read and follow the challenge rules posted on the left side bar to qualify for the random prize drawing and the coveted "Top Three" badge.

So, here I am with my Design Team piece for SMUDGY ANTICS.
Our theme this week is NURSERY RHYMES and there are some glorious new images out at SMEARED INK.  I have chosen to use 'Old King Cole' and I have made this tag. The image was coloured digitally, cut out twice and layered up with silicone, then given a coat of gloss. The background is the whole verse, I found on the Web and it is layered onto  some sheet music for that song on the piano. I put all that lot onto a 6 x 3 tag. Bit of green ribbon from my stash.

We'd love it if you were to come over and play with us, and you could get inspiration from the awesome DT creations there too.

SMUDGY ANTICS CHALLENGE - DRAGON TALES

Happy Monday Peeps,
Welcome to this week's Challenge over at SMUDGY ANTICS.... DRAGON TALES.
Now, we all had some awesome NEW Smeared Ink dragon images to play with this week. They are part of the new releases coming out shortly.
I chose SKULL KEEPER.  Click on pic to enlarge.

I coloured him with water colours, PSE9 and Copics and I have set him on a picture of a cave, courtesy of the Web. I added some yummy lace down the side that I got from my local store the other day. She has a haberdashery that is like Aladdin's Cave and has some awesome stuff :-) This is a 5" x 5" page (I shall move the lace when I make the page fixings and then put it back)  and I am going to make a little book including it, but I'm not sure what else is going to go with him yet.... maybe some more Smeared Ink dragons eh ?!!
I hope you will pop over to SMUDGY ANTICS and see what my DT chummies have for your delight, and play along with us this week. :-D xxx

SMUDGEFEST DAY 6 - SATURDAY's SONG

SmudgeFest Day 6

Welcome to Day 6 of Smudgefest with SMUDGY ANTICS So, how are you all feeling about the challenges? We're so happy to see that so many of you have hung around for the whole week, way to go! We know it takes a lot of effort to even participate once, and we appreciate all of the sharing of inspiration from all of you!

For a refresher on the rules check out the post
from Day 1.
Ready to Play? Here is our Day 6 challenge!

SATURDAY'S SONG!
Make an ATC based on these song lyrics:

Blackbird - Beatles
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

For my ATC creation I have used  RIP Birdy by Tori,
and Scared Eyes (although they didn't look too
scared...I wanted them just to be looking at the bird)
.....from the Anatomy 101 Set - both at SMEARED INK.
My backgrounds are from 3 Hearts Digital Designs
(Click on Pics to enlarge)

See the little birdie singing away up there... warble,
tweetle, trilly, trill, trill !! :-D ,
The tree, bird and sentiment panel are fussy cut
and layered on with silicone to make them 3D and
I added a jewel and little moon charm in the
corner. The secret of that is so it allows
the ATC to swing up to reveal the inside .....................

Bwaahahahahaha !!...Cat got it... bit like my
house then !!!!
