ALL DONE!

I've been promising and promising and finally I'm done. The Flitting By Decor Elements arrived this morning and I put them up immediately. Here are the before and after pics (some of them) of my daughter's room (minus the new bedding I haven't found just yet)!

BEFORE

Her room has been this blue, yellow and green combination since it was the nursery for our son. Obviously it's been "girlified" but she was tired of it. One wall was all the soft yellow wallpaper covered with tiny bumble bees- it was so cute and I had a hard time (emotionally) tearing it down. The twin bed was mine as a child and the desk was mine in college- it has an inscription on the back that my grandfather wrote after he painted it off-white for me in 1994 just a year before he died. I painted it the light green in 2007 and left the inscription visible on the back.

AFTER
So here's the after with all the wallpaper stripped, walls painted and butterflies applied! We both adore the butterflies- especially since we planned ahead and they match the paint so well! The only thing left is bedding which will have brown in it as well as shades of pink and I've asked my dad to surprise her with some shelves above her bed for displaying favorite items. The bed is a full and part of a cherry bedroom set I inherited from my grandparents. We use the other pieces in our master but the bed was too small. I'm so glad she's getting use out of it now!

Can you tell the carpet is Sage Shadow? I was concerned about that but it looks really nice with the other colors I think.
The results are in: she LOVES it, especially the butterflies! We even have a secret hidden butterfly that only she and I know is there- she thought that was cool.

OK, I'll quit now. I doubt many of you are interested enough to read all this but this will serve as my scrapbook notes when I get around to doing a page for her.
If you haven't checked out the fabulous new Definitely Decorative catalog be sure to- it's on the right side bar here on my blog. Don't miss it!
Thanks for stopping by,
~Kristin

Wow Flowers & Micro Beads... Oh, and some Decor Elements!

OK, so one look in the Wow Flowers gallery on SCS and this card doesn't look so original. I guess we're all trying to use the new In Colors and since this set was available for preorder that narrows down the creative possibilities. Well trust me when I say I was going for original (like always) and didn't even view the gallery before I made this.

Anyway, I was going for basic and simple for a possible Make-n-Take at my Open House today and I think this fits the bill. Had to add a little bit of something to jazz it up so there are green micro beads in the center of the medallion that look surprisingly just like Kiwi Kiss! Woo Hoo- bonus!

Oh, I think I promised a peek at how I used the Decor Elements. My first use of these Decor Elements is with the Long-Stem Silhouette (the medium one I've used is 27 7/8" x 5 3/4") which matches the beautiful stamp set Stem Silhouettes which is only available until August 11th. This is a table in my foyer. My home decor is all about elements of nature so I immediately liked this Decor Element! See the little bird hook hanging there? I've had it for a few years and have never hung anything from it. Well, I have an idea using this coordinating stamp set which I'll try to get to one of these days!

In the mean time, next I will show my use of the Create Definition Decor Element, which I'll put in my kids' bathroom today. It may be hard to photograph, but I will try. The other Decor Element I bought will take me some time to use as I bought it for my mom. I have what I think is an awesome idea for a gift for her, but will need time (lots of time) to put it together (then I have to convince her to let me do it at her house!). That will be down the road. If you are at all excited about these Decor Elements, let me tell you the Phase 2 release will knock your socks off! I can't wait to see what else Stampin' Up! has in store for us with this awesome new creative outlet!
