Sweet Scoops

I've been wanting to get more use from this set, Sweet Scoops,  lately so I set out to find a good challenge to work with.  Since there is no lack of challenges to choose from on the internet these days I only had trouble narrowing it down.  The others I wrote down in my handy-dandy challenge notebook so I can come back to them quickly without wading through the internet and getting bogged down looking then not taking any time to actually stamp.  (Want a whole list of challenge blogs categorized by day of the week?  Just click the bottom of my sidebar for the blinky that says "Daily Dare".)

I chose to use the color challenge CC281 and sketch challenge SC291 both from Splitcoast!  The color challenge is to use Daffodil Delight, Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz.  No problem- I loved these colors together as soon as I got them out.  They look good in about any combination.

The striped Concord Crush paper is from the Level One Hostess pack of paper patterns in the In Colors.  I'm getting quite a bit of use from that paper pack- love that it is in the new In Colors!!  My sentiment is from the stamp set called Something Sweet (I love how those sentiments can work with the ice cream cones)!

Did you notice my little bumble bee??  I always think of those bees buzzing around whenever I think of ice cream cones in the summer.  He is from the recent Sale-a-Bration set called Picture This that I've been using frequently.  I just use my markers to ink him up and color him in, then added him to a build-a-brad!

Thanks for visiting today!  It looks lovely outside so I'm off...

A Thought Away

Now that my mojo is back I've been trying to keep stamping for fear of it disappearing again. I whipped this one together pretty quickly Thursday night using the Pals Paper Arts color challenge to use Crushed Curry, Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay. Yummy- I really enjoyed using these colors together!

I also thoroughly love using Jackie Topa's idea of the bird wing from the Two-Step Bird Punch as a petal for a flower. Isn't that awesome?! Used some Crushed Curry ink around the edges (applied with a sponge dauber) for added dimension that makes a HUGE difference! The centers are just 1/2" Crushed Curry circles punched out then stamped with Soft Suede ink and the old Canvas background (I told you I NEVER get rid of stamps), then covered with those clear sticky circles from the Build-a-Brad. I have a bunch of the circles left but only 3 of the metal brads... go figure.

All the edges on this card are distressed with Soft Suede ink. I also used the distressing tool and the perforator tool on the suede piece. Added a library clip and some linen thread and called it quites. What do you think?! I adore the curry flowers on the suede and am so glad I found not only the color challenge but also Jackie's neat flower petal idea.

Well, gotta run! I'm out the door to head north for the weekend. Was dragging my feet because the UPS guy is over 3 hours late with my new catty but I just can't wait any more. At least I got this post done so you'll have something to see on Saturday (a rare treat from me, I know)!

Thanks for stopping in,
~Kristin

I {Heart} You!

Ever since the Clean & Simple challenge on Monday to make a Valentine's card I've been wanting/meaning to make another one. Not sure why it took me this long, but I've finally put to paper the idea I've had in my head that whole time. Of course it's not the exact idea but it's close.

Calling this Clean & Simple might be a stretch though... it is clean enough I think with a lack of layers, but simple might be debatable considering I embossed the heart, made a Build-a-Brad, used the Big Shot on the card base, not to mention chipboard, ribbon and a fancy Scallop Trim punch. But CAS is up to us, so this is gonna count this time!

I had this all laid out and ready to glue down when I decided I really wanted to use one of my new Real Red Sending Love Epoxy Brads (now available in the Occasions Mini catalog). But the Real Red just wasn't working with my Melon Mambo so I suddenly had a thought that I can make my own! I pulled out my Build-a-Brad kit, stamped the pink heart (from the trio of hearts stamp in Love You Much) then punched it out with my 1/2" circle punch. Voila- my own almost epoxy heart brad in Melon Mambo! Just what I wanted.

The big heart is from that same stamp set, Love You Much. The chipboard letters I liked in their original kraft color since that is the color of the card base, but I wanted to spruce them up a bit so I stamped the "i" with an old set called Beyond the Basics, and the "u" with my Polka Dot background- stamped twice. I also colored in a few of the details on the big heart with my handy-dandy Melon Mambo marker.

The Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions folder (p. 35) and black satin ribbon (p. 27) are now available in the new Occasions Mini Catalog also!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Oh, I almost forgot! I have GREAT NEWS! I will be offering my FIRST EVER BLOG CANDY next week. Be sure to check back frequently for a chance to win! I can't wait to show you what it's all about!

Who's up for a color challenge??

Well I've got one for you sponsored by the Diva's Coffee Break Designs! This week we have these four luscious colors to work with and it was fun. I do have to apologize and admit that I ran off to our county fair yesterday, ended up with 6 kids to chase from ride to ride, and got home late (after a gigantic downpour!) and completely forgot about my Diva card- OOPS! So I whipped something out after 10pm last night and was able to put the finishing touch on this morning before getting it posted.

Hope you like it! This is the Branch Out set which I've been feeling bad about not using much lately, as well as a sentiment from Think Happy Thoughts. When it was all done I added the sponged shadow beneath the tree because it felt too stark, but now I'm not so sure I should have... what do you think? (It's OK to be honest- I'm a big girl).

Thanks for stopping by and visiting on this lovely Wednesday! Hope you have a fabulous day and have a chance to stamp something for yourself! Hey, while you're at it, why don't you go play along with our Diva challenge- I'd love to see it!
