Verve Diva Inspiration Hop - January 2014

Hi Everyone!

If you are coming over from Karen's awesome blog then you are in the right place! Welcome to Verve's January Diva Inspirations Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time! This year we're spicing up our monthly hops with the addition of a challenge! So in addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, you can play along with the challenge and link up your creation for a chance to win another prize! Woohoo!

Our January challenge is:

The year is shiny and new,
so let's add shimmer and shine to our cards.
Think glitter, sequins, rhinestones, pearls, heat embossing - anything with some gloss.

I LOVE glitter and things that are bright and shiny - but for this year's challenge I decided to keep it simple and create some CAS birthday cards with just a little bit of shimmer and shine :) I created a set of birthday cards that were mainly built around kraft with another color for pop. Here is a card that I made mostly in pink - the birthday cake is from the set Birthday Bash and the sentiment is from the Big Wish stamp set from Verve Stamps - I colored it in with my color pencils and then added a little glitter to the cake with a bit of embossing and sponging to the sides:

Here is the same layout in Red - I LOVED adding some glitter to the cake - trust me - it took a lot of self-control not to spray the whole thing with Glitter!! LOLOL!!

I wanted to try to get a close up of the cake and the glitter - here is a little shiny glitter close up :)

And here is the same layout with a yellow color pop with the kraft - loved how the yellow cakes turned out with the glitter :

I thought it would be fun to create a blue and green set of birthday cards too - here are both colors - click on either to enlarge the image:

Here is the whole set of birthday cards that I colored in with this awesome Birthday Bash stamp set - I LOVE this cake! I had so much fun creating this card set - perfect to have around for all those birthday cards that I make at the last minute :)

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: The Cake Image is from the Birthday Bash and the sentiment is from the Big Wish stamp set from Verve Stamps
Papers: Snap Chat and Kraft cardstock
Inks: Memento: Ladybug Red, Tangelo, Bamboo Leaves, Bahama Blue and Tuxedo Black
A Cut Above Verve dies: Scalloped Trim Trio Set for the top banner
Accessories: Glitter from MS, circle embossing folder, white gel pen, sponger, white ink, white satin ribbon, dimensionals, circle punches and wonky nesties

Here is a little side view of the cards and the glitter:

And another view of the cards:

I can't believe that there have been 300 Mojo Monday sketches!! I was always attracted to Julee's gorgeous visually beautiful sketches - the definitely got my mojo flowing when I was stuck in a rut! I think I started playing almost 5 years ago (say whaaa/?!) when there were around 40 sketches! For my card today, I decided to use one of my favorite stamp sets Let It Shine!!! Julee asked us along time ago what we would like to see as a stamp sets - so I asked her for sunshine stamps!! yay! I love sunshine (hence my blog title :) - anything sunny just makes me happy :) and I simply loved her sunny creation in her Let it Shine stamp set - so I had to use this set to celebrate the 300th Mojo Monday Sketch! Here is my take on the sketch:

I used two of the sunny stamps to create the sun and then added a button to the center with a wee bit of twine :) and then created a mat with some vellum, added some little cut outs from the DP and a banner from the Pennant Banner Trim   - here is a closer peek:
Card Ingredients:
Paper: Simple Stories: I heart Summer
Inks: Memento Teal Zeal and Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Pennant Trim die from Verve Stamps, dimensionals, circle punch, Spellbinders nesties, vellum, corner rounder, buttons, twine, bling and liquid pearls

I just loved making this card and I just love this sentiment which I dedicate to Julee and the Mojo Makers - you guys are pure sunshine - thank you for always getting the Mojo Flowing!!! Verve Divas Inspiration Hop - June 2013

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our Diva Inspirations Hop! It's the 5th of the month and that means it's time for the Verve Inspirations Team to breathe new life into some much-loved stamps and dies. And there's a PRIZE up for grabs, so be sure to leave a little shout out in the comment section of each blog as you hop about to be entered in a drawing for a $30 gift certificate to Verve Stamps! Check out all the details and prize info over at the Verve Blog.

If you are coming here from the awesome blog of Karen Giron, then you are in the right place!!! For my project today, I created a card using the beautiful sentiment from the Just For You stamp set: "I'm so blessed to have you in my life" from Verve stamps and paired it with the lovely Pennant Trim Die. I loved the metallic papers in this DP and kept the card kind of monochromatic with just a little pop of color from the Prima Roses. I cut out the sentiment with my circle nesties and created a little circle fun in the center of the card with a frame made from the cardstock with the corners chomped :)
Here is a closer peek at the card - I added a little tiny row of liquid pearls underneath the sentiment and above the pennant trim (and a little bling to the center of the Pennant Trim). I always love how gorgeous the fonts of every stamp set from Verve are! Julee is such an amazing artiste and illustrator!!

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Just for You stamp set from Verve stamps
Paper: SEI paper pad and cardstock from MFT
Inks: Memento Teal Zeal
Accessories: Circle Nestabilites, Prima roses, corner chomper, liquid pearls, bling, dimensionals and Pennant Trim Die from Verve Stamps

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Next on the hop is Sarah's love creations and you can also start at the beginning of the blog with the link list below! I can't wait to see what the rest of the team created with all of the lovely Verve stamps and dies! Please hop along with me and check them out!

Verve Divs - May Inspiration Hop

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our Diva Inspirations Hop! It's the 5th of the month and that means it's time for the Verve Inspirations Team to breathe new life into some much-loved stamps and dies. And there's a PRIZE up for grabs, which might just come in handy for the new stamps and dies Verve is releasing on Friday, May 10! So be sure to leave a little shout out in the comment section of each blog as you hop about to be entered in a drawing for a $30 gift certificate to Verve Stamps! Check out all the details and prize info over at the Verve Blog.

I made my card for today using the beautiful stamps from the newest release and paired it with the super amazing (AH-MaH-ZING!) Seam Binding Ribbon from Verve stamps - you can check them all out here. I love the flower from the Surely Goodness stamp set and paired it with one of my most favorite sentiments "Shine Brightly" from the Remember This stamp set from Verve stamps.

I love this sentiment - I just can't tell you HOW happy it makes it to stamp this sentiment - its such a lovely sentiment of encouragement! All the sentiments in the Remember This  set have that quality of being the most perfect sentiments - Julee is amazing like that - always creating such lovely sentiments! The CAS style of cards is a really hard one for me - I always struggle with it because I always feel like 400 jillion layers are missing! So here is my attempt to a CAS style card trying to keep the sentiment and the flower as the centerpieces :)
I stamped the flower from the Surely Goodness stamp set - it is such a gorgeous flower and I stamped it 4 times - each time cutting layers of the flower and then popping it up on the previous layer. I love the colors from the this MME DP so I kept the colors minimal and colored the flower only blue and then mixed some greens and grays for the leaves. Here is a closer up picture of the layers on the flower and the lines of pearls on the side of the flower and above the sentiment:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Surely Goodness stamp set (flower) and the sentiment is from the Remember This stamp sets from Verve Stamps
Paper: My Mind's Eye, PTI white and gray Bazzill cardstock
Inks: Memento London Fog,
Accessories: photo angle chomper, line of pearl bling, dimensionals, spellbinders nestabilties, large pearl bling, Signature Ribbon collection from Verve stamps and copics.

I just loved making this card - I think I could make all my cards with this sentiment - its just so inspiring to the inside sunshine in all of us just to let that light that we are - shine out bright!!!

Please check out the wonderful creations from my fellow Verve Divas - leave them a little love in the comment section and you can be entered to win a wonderful prize from Verve!!! Hop along with me and check them out:

March Verve Diva Inspiration Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Diva Inspirations Hop! It's the 5th of the month and that means it's time for the Verve Inspirations Team to breathe new life into some much-loved stamps and dies. And there's a PRIZE up for grabs! So be sure to leave a little shout out in the comment section of each blog as you hop about to be entered in a drawing for a $30 gift certificate to Verve Stamps! Check out all the details over at the Verve Blog, which just happens to be the start of the hop.

I love the Inspiration hops - and this month we are welcoming a whole lot of new Verve Divas for their first Inspiration Hop!!! Woohooo! Welcome Ladies! For my project today, I made some table centerpieces for my friends 50th birthday using the  Let It Shine stamp set. We had a long table set up for her 50th birthday and I thought it would make it more special to personalize the table decorations with little candle holders decorated with her favorite colors (green, blue and purple) with a little tag that says: 50, Your Time to Shine!

I found little glass candle holders and combined it with some green burlap, flowers, berries and twine with a hazelnut scented candle inside (Smells SOOO good!). Having a milestone birthday can such an emotional moment - and I love the sentiment "Your Time to Shine" - just puts everything into perspective and inspires me to always enjoy and be grateful for this precious life of ours. Here is another angle of the candle holder - with the candle inside:

Here is a shot of all the candleholders together - I love how it turned out. I stamped the sentiment from the awesome  Let It Shine stamp set  - check out all the sentiments in this  beautiful set! I punched out the sentiments with a circle punch and then matted it onto some green card stock that I cut using the Vintage Oval die. I attached the tag onto the candle holders with some twine and finished it off by adding some glitter to the thickers:

Project Details:
Stamps: Let It Shine stamp set from Verve Stamps
Paper: PTI white cardstock and green cardstock
Inks: Memento Bamboo Leaves
Accessories: Vintage Oval die from Verve stamps, Circle punch, American crafts foam number stickers, flowers/ berries/ burlap from craft store, twine, dimensionals and cropadile and ribbon from stash

I think my most favorite kind of project is one where I can make something special for my friends and family - and making this project was so much fun and so special because it was for someone special! Julee has the most amazing sentiments that always say the most perfect things straight Can't wait to see all the amazing projects that the Divas have created for the hop this morning - please hop over with me and check them out - and don't forget to leave a little love - some lucky commenteer will get some awesome prizes! TODAY'S Featured Set:

plus the Philippians 1:6, Light Tomorrow and Life is Good PJ's

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the third day of the New Release Spotlights from Verve Stamps! Today Julee has created a plethora of gorgeous stamp sets from a mini sentiment set called Small Phrases which is anything but mini - it is TOTALLY all about those perfect heart sentiments that make the heart smile HUGE - along with three absolutely gorgeous Plain Janes: Light Tomorrow, Life is Good and Philippians 1:6

I loved making cards with all of these gorgeous stamps - ack! Julee always creates SUCH incredible perfection every single time and I loved making cards with each of these stamp sets. For today's releases I wanted to peek my card made using the Small Phrases stamp set - which features the very awesomest / all around/ all occasions stamp set and made this card with one of my favorite sentiments using this stamp set: "You're one of my nicest thoughts".

Making this card made me so happy - I just love this stamp set and this sentiment is so very happy - you can't help but be in a good mood when creating with it! I used the circle frame from the Thankful Accents stamp set to frame the centerpiece of the card: my happy heart that blooms with joy :) and used the Spellbinders die to frame the sentiment that I wrapped around the bottom of the circle frame. Here is a closer peek at the center and sentiment:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps:  Small Phrases from Verve Stamps
Paper:   MME (Life of the Party), PTI and Bazzil Cardstock
Inks: Memento Blue Danube and Rich Cocoa

Verve Stamps: New Release Spotlights Day 2

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2 of the Verve New Release Spotlights - where we are sneaking peeks from the July Release of Verve Stamps that will be released tomorrow July 8th! Today, we are sneaking peeks from the gorgeous new stamp set: Words Cannot Express - and truly Julee has outdone herself with these gorgeous fonts and such perfect sentiments from the heart!

TODAY'S Featured Set:

Its absolutely amazing to read all the sentiments in this stamp set - everyone is a gem - but I think my favorite is this sentiment that reads: "I'd thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you, my heart has no bottom." What an absolutely sweet sentiment... and that is exactly the way you feel with your closest friends, parents and siblings. I loved creating this card from heart with this sentiment of the heart:

I had fun pairing up these colors (could be that I was channeling the Baltimore Orioles color scheme when made this card while I was in Baltimore ;) After I finished I added a little heart to the top corner of my card and finished it off with some butterfly punched DP with some pearls in the middle. Here is a closer peek at the sentiment:

Card Ingredients:

Stamps:  Words Cannot Express by Verve Stamps
Paper:  Webster's Pages and Basic Grey with Black cardstock from Bazzill
Inks:  Memento Inks Tuxedo Black and Tangelo
Accessories:  ribbon from American Crafts, butterfly punch from MS, pearls from Want2Scrap, liquid pearls (buttercup), heart punch border from MS, dimensionals, Spellbinders, heart punches and corner chomper

Its so fun and easy to create a card when you just love all the sentiments - and I think the hardest part of making this card was to decide which sentiment to use - because they are all so very amazing! Speaking of amazing - please check out these amazing Divas and their creations using this beautiful stamp set:

2. Robin {Guest}8. Teresa

Mojo Monday #191 - God Bless!

Hi Everyone,

I am in desperate need of mojo - really - its pretty desperate here - I actually sat in front of my craft desk all evening with not a drop of creativity... sigh... I looked through papers, card magazines... blogs... nada... everything looked beautiful - but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.... sigh... but this morning - I thought to look at the Mojo Monday blog - and sure enough- Julee has a fantastic sketch (Mojo Monday #191)  that is sure to get your mojo flowing - I LOVE this sketch - it seemed so easy to keep it clean - and simple - two things that I am not good at :).

I turned the card vertically and used the gorgeous stamp set: Hope Blooms  from Verve stamps and stamped the largest flower onto the DP from the Summertime collection from Echo Park. I love love love how this flower looks stamped, paper pieced or colored in. I cut out the edges and placed it onto the classic oval vintage die from Verve Stamps and used the beautiful sentiment: "God Bless" from the Faithful Phrases stamp set from Verve.

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Hope Blooms and Faithful Phrases stamp set from Verve.
Paper: Summertime collection from Echo Park
Ink: RoseRed and Tuxedo Black from Memento Ink
Accessories: blign and pearl from BoBunny, ribbon from stash, dimensionals, corner rounder and liquid pearls

I love ti when mojo strikes - I woke up this morning - made this card - and then fed my kids breakfast, got them dressed and out the door for school! Hooray for a fun morning!

Hope your day is filled with fun and sunshine and beauty!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs :)

Easter Greetings

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a wonderful Easter - it was a most perfect sunshiney Spring day here and the kids really had a wonderful time finding Easter eggs hidden all around the lawn - the pure excitement and joy in their faces was just precious!

When we got home, I realized that I hadn't posted an Easter card that I made yesterday to give to their aunt and uncle today. I used the super cute little guy named Chaz from the Chicks Rule stamp set with the lovely sentiment from the Egg-stra Special stamp set from Verve stamps.
Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Egg-stra Special and Chicks Rule from Verve Stamps
Paper: Black and red scraps of paper from stash
Inks: Ladybug Red and Tuxedo Black from Memento Inks
Verve Dies: Eggs were made using the Charming Oval die set from A Cut Above dies from Verve
Accessories: EK success border punch, circle and scalloped nesties, Cuttlebug embossed folder, liquid pearls, corner rounder, baker's twine and dimensionals

I love the beautiful Charming Oval dies from Verve Stamps - they can not only be used for sentiments - but also the eggs are perfect for cutting eggs out of DP. I loved this beautiful card that Amy created and was inspired to create a similar one with hanging eggs. I love little Chaz from the Chicks Rule stamp set peeking out from the corner :)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have a wonderful start tomorrow for a great week!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

For Your Inspiration Challenge #3 - Sunshine and Smiles!

Hi Everyone,

There is a wonderful new challenge blog that is just beginning called For Your Inspiration - where every two weeks there is a wonderful inspiration picture provided and you create anything you want based on that inspiration (whether it is sewing, paper, jewelry, etc!) One project will be chosen for each inspiration and that lucky person will be the Lovely Lotus for that week's challenge.

This week, I have the total honor of being their guest designer and I was so excited when I saw this beautiful inspiration picture for this week's FYI # 3 Challenge :

Isn't it just gorgeous!?! As soon as I saw this picture I just fell in love! It reminded me of when I visited Lake Como in Italy - the blues and yellows from the sun just immediately took me back to such happy times and memories that I couldn't wait to make a happy sunshiney card! I knew I wanted to create a scene similar to the picture above and used one of my favorite Verve Stamps: Let It Shine! This set is truly so happy and has soooo many yummy suns :) perfect for a sunshiney card :)

Card Ingredients:
StampsLet It Shine! from Verve Stamps
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Bahama Blue and Danube Blue
Paper: Crate Paper and blue paper from Prism papers
Dies: Charming Oval Die from A Cut Above from Verve Stamps
Accessories: Scallop punch from EK success, wave punch from Fiskars, Martha Stewart edge punch, liquid pearls (buttercup), dimensionals, sponger and ribbon from stash

I loved making this card - I tried to use similar blues and also tried to use some golden yellow in the waves to mimic the sunshine on the lake. I sponged some clouds and stamped the sun from the  Let It Shinestamp set and then stamped it again by popping it up on dimensionals. I finished it off with some liquid pearls and some ribbon from my stash. I stamped the sentiment (by mixing three different inks) onto a newly released die from A Cut Above dies from Verve Stamps: Charming Oval Die.

I adore challenges like this because it totally opens the window of creativity - you can create anything with how this inspiration picture inspires you! I can't wait to check out the cards created by the amazing design team from the  For Your Inspiration Challenge blog!

A huge thank you to Stephanie for allowing me to be the guest designer today! Thank you! I can't wait to play along with the future challenges!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

Together Forever!

HI everyone,

One of our dearest friends became engaged to another dear friend and I am so excited for her wedding coming up later this year! I wanted to send them a congratulations card that was bright and happy and full of our happy wishes :) I used the VLV sketch #3 from January that Teresa had created for this card and used the Up, Up and Away stamp set with the sentiment: Together for Ever from the Love Notes stamp set from Verve stamps and used one of the sweet little hearts from this stamp set along with the heart from the Text Objects stamp set from Verve. I love all of the balloons from the Up, Up and Away stamp set and its always hard to decide which one to use - but I used the circle one because then I could paper piece it with one of the DP's from the MME Love Me Do papers. I added a little heart from the Love Notes stamp set and added a little glitter to it and put it on the center of the balloon.
Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Up, Up and Away stamp set, Love Notes stamp set from Verve (sentiment) and stitched heart from the Text Objects stamp set from Verve.
Paper: MME Love Me Do papers and PTI cardstock
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Ladybug Red ink
Accessories: liquid pearls, bling, dimensionals, baker's twine, dimensionals, chunky glitter and corner chomper

I love this sentiment "together forever" and I love all the different fonts in the Love Notes stamp set. I stamped the sentiment and created a little tag by chomping some corners and punching a hole that I added some twine too and attached to the ribbon. I finished it off with some bling, liquid pearl dots and some glitter on the clouds. I really had fun putting this card together and the best part will be to mail it to them (hopefully, I can actually get it in the mail before they get married - I am notoriously bad for making cards and never sending them out - so hopefully on monday - I can get to the post office and actually mail it off!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today - also - please be sure to stop by the Verve blog for more Verve-y goodness - and the SCS Verve forum for all the new March sketches!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)
