Idle

This is my post for Illustration Friday’s “Idle”. It’s been a while since I posted to IF, but it’s usually when a topic strikes me that I can pull together an idea.

Global Warming aside, an idling car is still not good for the environment. If it was, you’d probably smoke your car like a cigar, wouldn’t you? (scribbling down another idea…)

In conclusion, shutting off your car, rather than having it sit idle can’t be a bad thing.

Suicycle

Curiosity presents Suicycle.
A look at what goes in, what goes out, and how everything we swallow gives the environment a case of indigestion. SuiCycle is a lively, multi-textured animated short with a darkly comic style at odds with the subject matter, Suicycle—intended to play as a never-ending loop—

All the illustrations were done as animated mask shapes in After Effects.

Interactive environmental display for Lightbox museum & gallery

Just had photos done of a huge project I've worked on this year. It's a large scale permanent interactive environmental display for the new building, the Lightbox museum & gallery in Woking, UK, designed by Marks Barfield, the creators of the London Eye.
www.thelightbox.org.uk

It's a graphic lightbox covering a final area of 4800mm (w) x 2000mm (h). The content is based on what Woking is doing to support environmental issues/concerns within the city. The visitor is given a selection of push buttons with facts/questions that light-up specific activities within the illustration.

The illustration needed to closely represent the content and convey the identity of Woking and some of its key features. It was a very invoved & challenging project, with lots of design issues to resolve along the way. The artwork was drawn actual size in Adobe Illustrator, & as you can see, rather detailed!
