First of all! Extremely sorry that I couldn't comment on your blog posts, I was sick due to cold and fever! But now that I am back in action, I am ready to check out your wonderful creations! ;)
Alright, do you guys remember the card I had made for STAMPlorations March Challenge? It involved Reflection Stamping technique. You can find it
here. My friends
Becca and
LauraJane had asked for a tutorial and Geee! Look at me, I should hang my head in shame because it's been over 2 months! Hope they don't kill me...lol!! ;)
I found a perfect challenge to make a tutorial here at
Mixed Media Card Challenge this month! Here is my card! :)
For the card, I first drew a base line which will show reflection. Then I masked the edges of the card base and sponged using Seedless preserves and Salty ocean distress ink. I stamped the images from STAMPlorations-Tree silhouette stamp set.
I used water colors to blend in colors in the water.I have stamped using archival ink for trees and distress ink for the reflection. The moon and stars are hand drawn using white alcohol ink pen. I also hand drew the birds using black gel pen. :)
I was so excited to see my card finish that while removing the masking tape, I accidentally tore off the base paper! But well, we are crafters! And we find solutions to anything and everything....lol! I cut off the torn edges and adhered the scenery on a black card base, then again adhered over a white base. Phew! And was done! :)
I am also entering for
Take it make it Challenge (Craft Stamper) - Anything goes with stamps
So, here is the tutorial for using this technique:
1. Stamp the image that you want to use reflection stamping on. I have used Vignette- Tree silhouette from STAMPlorations. I would recommend using smaller stamps for a start. Make sure all your stamps are cleaned properly before using this technique.
2.Now, use a stamp having a larger surface area on the back side as we want to stamp one image over its back-side. Here, I used STAMPlorations-Bloom sketches flower stamp. ( It is too pretty and so I stamped over it and washed off the inks ASAP ;))
Ok! So, get your Tree silhouette stamp , ink it with distress ink (black soot) and stamp it over the back side of larger stamp like this! You need to be really careful while doing this because the impressions may smudge.
3.Keep the default non-stamping side(that has the impression of tree silhouette stamp set upwards) and
Stick ( default stamping side facing acrylic block) over the acrylic block like this.
4.Now, stamp the larger stamp (having tree silhouette impression over it) on the paper like this.
You can see that the reflection is not perfect but is perfect for a reflection. U can also improve the reflection by using archival ink instead of distress ink for the reflection. But make sure the base stamp is old because you don't wanna spoil it! ;)
I hope I was clear in my explanation and that you were inspired to make a card using this technique! Please tell me if you enjoyed reading this tutorial and I would love to see if you make something using this technique! :)
A quote (question) to share! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
