Thinking of you card using Penny Black "Butterly Suite"

Well to start off 2012 I didn't expect to wake up with no voice for no reason. Not knowing if I'm sick, I cancelled my plans and decided to stay in today and craft. While my kids played wii I broke out my Penny Black "butterfly suite" stamp. I saw video by the talented Jill Foster a while back and I had to buy the stamp. Here's the card then I'll provide some step by step details.

First I stamped the image on copic paper using black momento ink. Then I colored the image in using copics. The flower is colored with BV00, BV02, BV04, BV13. The greens are YG07, YG09, YG17. The butterflies are colored with YR07, YR16, YR18. Each person colors differently but I color with the lightest, then med, then darkest, then again with the lightest to blend.

Here is just the image colored

Then I used Tim holtz distress ink in old paper and brushed corduroy. I distressed the entire paper with the old paper ink, then distressed the sides with brushed corduroy. I used a paper distresser to distress the sides, then added more brushed corduroy.

Here's a picture of this step as you can see I also added another layer of the butterflies, cut the out and only adhered the center to give it dimension

To finish the card I used lily bee design paper head over heels 6x6 tiny tablet. I added the distress ink over the paper to dull it down a little, added a distressed doily, a stamped sentiment by hero arts sending smiles messages and a bow. I also added hints of glossy accents to the flowers and butterflies.

Here is a slightly angled view so you can see the dimension in the butterflies.

Hope you like it.

Cards for Stamp Fever Class Oct 29th and Nov. 1st

Hi everyone,

Here are the cards I'll be making for my next card class at Stamp Fever on Saturday, October 29th and Tuesday, November 1st.

The first card we'll be creating a layered base and this adorable Turkey! Gooble Gooble!! Isn't he a cutie.

The second card is a slightly changed version of the card I made for Lily Pad. Here we use heat embossing on transparency. The picture doesn't do the ornament justice. It's embossed on both sides adding texture and sparkle!
The third card is the one that I made for my Lily Pad designer spot. When I had the idea in my head I knew it would be making this with my class as well. The window is super fun and easy. And this Penny Black set is too cute.

Cards from my Lilypad guest Designer Spot

Hi everyone and welcome to my new followers. If you didn't click through to my Lily Pad Guest Designer spot yesterday, I wanted to post the cards I made for them here. However, if you want the supply list, hop on over to my Lilypad post HERE to get it.

Here is the first card I made using Penny Black's Mimi's Halloween and Lawn Fawn's Happy Hauntings. I used a masking to create the background.
For my second card I used Lawn Fawn's Ornate Ornaments and Hero Arts Wood Grain background. I created the Ornament using transparency and stickles which makes it glassy and see through like a normal ornament would be.
For my third card I wanted to create a window with an indoor and outdoor scene. I used Penny Black's Mimi's Christmas and Hero Arts Starry Night. I used transparency in the window.

Lunar Light Birthday Card

I made this card for my friend and co-worker using Lawn Fawn's Lunar Lights stamp set. Her favorite color is purple and she is the BLING queen so I had to make it sparkle. I made the backgroud paper using the smaller lanterns from the set. I stamped them with versamark "Sparkle" and used clear glitter empossing powder. I then distressed the background with Ranger inks (Spun Suger, then Milled Lavendar, then Dusty Concord)

For the main image I stamped the larger Lantern and colored it with Copics. After I colored it, I rubbed the Versamark sparkle all over the image then used the clear glitter embossing powder all over. This gave it that SUPER sparkle look and I didn't have to wait for any glitter glue to dry!! It doesn't look like it here but I then cut the image out and popped it up. I used a super light yellow copic around the edge of the base paper to give it that glow effect. I also used the same copic purples to color the matte paper circle so it would match the image.

No card is complete without a decorated inside!! Here I used another lantern and sentiment from the same set. I also gave this image a little glow as well.
I gave it to her today and she loved it. Hope you do too. Happy Birthday Susan!!

3rd card from first card class

So I finally got back to stamp fever today to take a picture of the 3rd card I had made for my first card class a week ago. I was asked by a lovely lady named Barbara to show her something new. So at midnight the night prior to my class I was designing a 3rd card and making 15 card kits. Gotta love my husband because he thought I was crazy and kept telling me to go to bed :-).
So can you find the cool part?? Okay I'll tell you :-) I embossed transparency and added it over the teal for the water. Then I cut her feet off and added them under the transparency so it looked like they were under the water. The stamp is penny black fun in the sun. The ladies loved this new technique. Hope you like it too!

Happy Birthday Card for 6yr old

I made this card for my 6 yr old niece for her birthday. Used Admit One from Lawn Fawn for the balloons. colored with Copics of course :-)

Just Wavin' Hello

Here is another card I made using my new Lawn Fawn stamps. This one was made using "Critters Under the Sea" aren't they adorable? I wanted to use the WHOLE pack of stamps which I did minus one sentiment. All the animals are colored with Copics. I used stickles on the top of the waves and glossy accents on some of the animals and the bubbles. I also inked every other layer of the paper for more color contrast.  This was definately a fun card to make. I've included a few angles of pictures to show the gloss and glitter.

Critters in the Forest- Hello FOXY!!

Here is my final finished card from the weekend and my FAVORITE! I made this card for my sister in law 'just cause'. She stopped by my house to pick up the Dora invites I made and saw this stamp set sitting out. Of course she loved all the images so after she left I set out to make her a card with ALL the images from the "Critters in the forest" Lawn Fawn stamp set, all colored with Copics. Here is what I came up with. The clouds are from the "Bon Voyage" stamp set and the grass is cut using the Martha Stewart border punch.
Here is a close up of the colored images on the front. "Day time" I used a cup to cut out a corner of paper for the sun. The rays, I just free handed them but cutting triangles.
I had to make the inside just as cute. I made it "Night time" in the inside. I used white ink and a sponge to fill in the clouds. I also used the same light blue paper in the inside but inked it with a darker blue ink for a night sky.

Here is the card and the matching envelope. I love my Martha Stewart scor board.

Crusing through Life

Another card I made using my new Lawn Fawn stamps. This set is called "Cruising through life" and is one of their Summer releases! I again used copics to color the image. Of couse I added a little bling :-)

Thank-Whooooooo

I felt like being crafty this past weekend and made this card for a friend of mine whooooo loves Owls. I just bought these adorable Lawn Fawn stamp set called Critters in the Forest and Bon Voyage. I haven't colored with my copics in a while either so it was fun to make this card. The paper is an ECCO stack.

The owl and log are from the Critters in the Forest set. The clouds are from Bon Voyage. I colored the owl and log as separate images using copics and cut each one out individually. The grass I created with the Martha Stewart grass border punch. I layed the bottom layer, glued the log on top, then layered the 2nd layer of grass. The owl I layed with a pop dot. The sentiment is also from the Critters in the Forest stamp set. I used natural twine to tie it all together for that natural foresty look :-)

Because the front was so cute, I had to make the inside just as cute :-) I used the same 2 sets to design the inside. Hope you like it.

Jury Duty - How I got through my day :-)

I got called on Jury Duty one day and decided to bring my copics with me. It was funny cause I had a few people watching me. This is what I colored. Haven't had time to make it into a card yet :-)
