Brusho Crystal Colour card #3

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

I've been having fun trying to figure out how to use all the pretty papers I made with the Brusho Crystal Colour. I've decided that it's a lot easier to use a small piece of the paper instead of covering the entire background. For this card I knew I wanted to color the shoes  with the Brusho to look like denim, so I also used the Blue Brusho to create a stone washed denim looking piece of paper as well.  I let very little white space, just enough to give it interest. I have a "three" rule, which means you pick a color and place it on three different places on the card. For this card, it's the silver. I placed a piece of silver paper behind the die cut stars, silver embossed the greeting and added silver embossed dots on the Brusho strip of paper. I like the "three" rule because I feel that it's more pleasing to the eye and it gives balance to the card.

Ink: Blue Brusho Crystal Colour, VersaMark

Emboss Resist Techique

Created by Stacey Cogswell

This is a fun technique using heat embossing and ink.  Stamp your image in VersaMark, heat enboss with black embossing powder and then color with markers or ink/sponge dauber.  You can color just certain areas of the image or you can rub ink over the entire image.  The ink will not "stick" to the embossed areas and it can be wiped off with a dry cloth.  Give it a try and see what you come up with.  Maybe even try several ink colors, what ever you do....just have fun.

Stacey

Reduce, Renew and Recycle

Have you ever been in the middle of cleaning and throwing things away when you see something in a piece of trash that you never saw before?  Well, that's exactly what happened when I saw this empty tissue box!  I instantly saw several Stampin'Up! cools and images, like Early Espresso, Basic Gray, More Mustard and Lucky Limeade. Why throw this away.....why not make it into a card!  What really cool too is that the card board is glossy so it give your card a super finished look with out any work.

Products used to make this card:
Stamp Set: Word Play
Card Stock: Early Espresso, Whisper White, More Mustard and Lucky Limeade
Ink: Versa Mark with Gold Embossing Powder
Extras: Gold Brads, Scallop Edge Punch, Piercer tool and 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Early Espresso

I hope I've inspired you to see your trash in a different light and you give the Reduce, Renew and Recycle some thought.

Smiles,
Stacey

Fall Hello

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!
This a simple card, but it still has the WOW factor.  I simply took a piece of Vanilla cardstock and sponged it with ink.  Here I used Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.  The only trick to sponging is to start the sponge off the paper and work onto the paper you're coloring.  Add more or less ink until you get the look you like. For this card I first sponged the cardstock and them heat embossed the image over the top. I used the stamp set My Friend.  I used Early Espresso embossing powder and cardstock along with Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.

Give this technique a try and let me know what you think.

Stacey

Card Contest Share #5

This card featured the really fun technique of embedding.  Glue random sizes of circles onto a background piece of paper and then run it through the Big Shot using a texture folder. If you haven't tried this technique, you should.  It really makes the paper look like custom designer paper or if you lay down squares instead of circles it will look like quilted fabric.  The stamped image was heat embossing and then colored with ink using an Aqua Painter.  Not only does the heat embossing give the stamped image a shiny look, it also helps the ink to stay inside the lines while painting.  The finishing touch was a little glitter on the cake stand to give it the appearance of "glass".

Products used to create this card:

Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes (wood $23.95 #111618)
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White
Classic Ink: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi and Pretty in Pink
Other Ink: VersaMark
Accessories: Black embossing powder with heat tool, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Aqua Painter, White Gel Pen and 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.  Big Shot with Square Lattice embossing folder.

I hope you'll give this technique a try and let me know what you think.  If you're like me, you'll be hooked.......making one right after another!

Stacey

This was a super simple, but elegant at the same time type of card..  I wanted to have the cross to be the central focal point without a lot of other stuff distraction from it.  I first dry embossed the front piece of card stock with the Framed Tulip embossing folder. Next, I heat embossed the cross with black embossing powder and then colored in the leaves/flowers with markers.  The greeting was stamped twice, once with VerseMark (heat embossed with black embossing powder) then using my Stamp-ma-jig for positioning, I stamped "blessed" with VerseMark and green ink (heat embossed with clear embossing powder).  So, there you have it.  Super easy, but beautiful.

Products used to create this card:

Stamp set: Crosses of Hope (wood $18.95 117136 or clear $14.94 120567)
Card stock: Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush
Ink: VersaMark and Pear Pizzazz
Markers: Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush
Accessories: Big Shot with Framed Tulips embossing folder, Black/Clear embossing powder, heat tool and Certainly Celery 1/8" Taffeta ribbon

Enjoy!

Jan. 2011 Stamp Camp Project #1

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

This project features the designer series paper Love Letter and three different stamp sets; Love You Much, With All my Heart and Cute Curly.  I love to show how a card design can be altered just by changing the greeting, this way you can go home with two of the cards you like the most. We will also be heat embossing the greeting so they'll really pop off the front of the card.  Add a gem, punched heart or a popped up embellishment and you have a easy but gorgeous card.  Because I'm using an entire package of designer series paper for this class, the background prints will vary for each person, but don't worry all the cards will look great!

Products used to create this card:

Card Stock: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Lover Letter (#117162 $9.95 for 12 double sided 12x12 sheets)
Stamp Sets: Love You Much (#113756 wood only $25.95)
With All My Heart (#118134 wood $17.95 or #118623 clear $13.95)
                   Curly Cute (117014 wood $19.95 or #120510 clear $14.95)
Ink: Vanilla Craft ink and Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: White embossing powder, embossing buddy, heat tool, basic jewels, Pinking heart corner and edge punch, three heart punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" circle punches.

Enjoy and come back tomorrow for details on the next stamp camp projects.

Spot Lighting

Created By Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

I made this card a little while ago for a color challenge, but decided to submit an entirely different card.  Spotlighting is a fun, simply technique that gives you great results. Just stamp the image twice (in my case, I stamped it with Versamark ink and embossed it with black embossing powder), then punch out an area that you wanted to spotlight, color it and place it over the same area of the first image.  Very simple, but yet it looks like you spent hours creating it!  Add so ribbon and you've got a very elegant card really for giving.  But don't limit yourself to just elegant floral cards, give this technique a try with any stamp set and see what happens!

Products used to create this card:
Stamp set: Elements of Style (118611 wood $27.95 or 120045 clear $19.95)
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Versamark, Pretty in Pink and Old Olive
Accessories: Black Embossing powder, Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon, 1 3/8" circle punch,1 1/4" circle punch, hand held slot punch (sorry not Stampin'Up!) and a blender pen.

Enjoy!

CCAT #3 Challenge: Style a While!

Today, I thought I would take a little break for the Bitty Bat punch and show you my next CraftyCatwalk
challenge card.  I started out with an idea for this card, but my end result was not what I had in mind.  It's sometimes fun to just let your creativity go the direction it wants to go! You have until September 30th to download a card of your own to the CraftyCatwalk, so come on, why not give it a try for yourself!

I used clear Versamark ink and silver embossing powder to create both the background design and the birds.  Enjoy and I would love to see you play along with the challenge.  It's really fun!
