May Stamp Camp
Can you believe it's almost May!? That means it's time for another stamp camp! Wahoo!!
This month we will making 4 cards all in the same color theme of Red, Black and Gray and I will show you how to use those scraps that are laying around your craft space. They are super cute and I will be showing how to create a unique "quilted" border as well as a weave using 1/2" and 1/4" strips. These cards would be prefect for a graduation or Father's Day. We will also be creating a fun girly card using paper piecing, another great technique to use up scraps! The last card features the stamp set Gorgeous Grunge, Alphabet letter dies and paper from a Project Life paper pack. I know you're just going to love these cards and find that they will be easy to reproduce in many color combinations!

Time to Reuse
Have you ever been at the grocery store picking out tissues when you have an "ah ha" moment. Well, when I saw this box of tissues, my first thought was that it looks just like a current Stampin'Up! stamp set and colors. I'm always amazed with how Stampin'Up! stays up with the current trends, even on tissue boxes! Anyway, when the box was empty, I set right to work making a card. Here is what I came up with:
What do you think? If I hadn't told you the secret you might think I stamped the background, right? Pretty cool, if I do say so myself and if I had to guess, you'll never look at a tissue box the same again!

By the Seashore
Created by Stacey Cogswell Copyright Stampin'Up! |
Here is another card inspired by our trip to Hawaii. It is very simple, but still nice. The largest square is 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" and the smaller squares are 1 3/4"x 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". I stamped the images in Early Espresso and then added a small amount of Calypso Coral ink with a sponge dauber. Stamp the greeting, spritz a little Early Espresso on the base of the card, add some brads and you're done.
Products used in the card:
Stamp Sets: By the Seashore and Lacey & Lovely
Ink: Calypso Coral and Early Espresso
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso
Extras: Neutral brads, Spritz tool with Espresso marker.
Enjoy,
Stacey

Inspired by Hawaii
Many of you may already know this, but in case you didn't......I was very blessed to have the opportunity recently to spend the entire month of January in Hawaii with my family and it was wonderful. We got to see and do so many amazing things with the bonus of not having to live through the freezing weather back home! Since my return home I've been in love with creating cards about the ocean! I've actually always loved the ocean, but I found that it's way more fun in Hawaii than in Oregon....hummm go figure! Anyway, over the next several posts I'm going to share with you some of these "ocean" inspired creations. This first card was actually created some time ago, but I never go around to posting it. Can you figure out how I made the jelly fish? No, it's not some kind of fancy hand cutting (I'm not that crazy!) and it's not a pre-made shape....so have you figured it out yet? It's the lid piece from the Cannery Set Framelits! Yes, you have to think outside the box on this one, but isn't cool! Add a little shading*, some ruffled ribbon* and little "water" and you've got an amazing card.
Products used:
Stamp set: Pursuit of Happiness (pg. 140)
Card stock: Pool Party, Whisper White and Perfect Plum
Ink: Perfect Plum, Pool Party and Basic Black
Extras: Corner rounder punch, Cannery Framelits with Big Shot, Taffeta ribbon and Fancy Fan Embossing folder.
* Shading Note: For the background piece I used a wavy template and a sponge with ink to create the look of waves. I then spritzed it with water to create the "bubbles" on the paper. When you add water over an ink area, the water will remove some of the ink and create spots. For the jelly fish I used an oval punched piece of paper as a mask and sponged ink in toward the center to create a 3-D effect.
* Ruffled Ribbon note: I took a wide piece of white taffeta ribbon split it into stripes and then VERY CAREFULLY heat the ribbon with my heat tool. The heat caused the ribbon to curl, but if you're not careful the ribbon will burn.
Have a great day!

Stacey

Triple Stamping
If you've been surfing the web lately, you've probably seen this technique popping up everywhere. Of course I had to give it a try. It's another one of those easy techniques that looks hard, but it's not.
Pretty cool isn't it. All you do is figure out the three sizes of Vanilla card stock you would like to use, layer them one on top of the other and stamp with a little bit of repositional adhesive. Stamp the greeting first (I used Early Espresso ink) and then the leaves (I used Cajun Craze), making sure you over lap the images onto more than one of the pieces of paper. For this card I used the stamp set French Foliage. After stamping, take the pieces apart and layer them with a darker color card stock, here I used Early Espresso. Add some Baker's Twine and button. Finally, adhere the layers together with dimensionals. This technique can be used with just about any stamp set. It also looks pretty cool with floral stamps or the The Open Sea stamp set for a nice manly card. Hope you like it.

Stacey

Fall Hello
This a simple card, but it still has the WOW factor. I simply took a piece of Vanilla cardstock and sponged it with ink. Here I used Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie. The only trick to sponging is to start the sponge off the paper and work onto the paper you're coloring. Add more or less ink until you get the look you like. For this card I first sponged the cardstock and them heat embossed the image over the top. I used the stamp set My Friend. I used Early Espresso embossing powder and cardstock along with Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.
Give this technique a try and let me know what you think.

Stacey

Wide Eyed Owl
A few months ago I saw a card in Paper Crafts magazine that I thought was a very cool and a good way to use little pieces of designer series paper..... if you're like me you can't stand to throw away even the smallest piece and you save them all, until one day you have so many of those little scrap that they start to over flow your work space and you're forced to either use them or else they will take over!....Wow, I might need a DSP scrap intervention! Anyway, here is the card.
Isn't this fun. Owls have been "big" over the last couple of years and I'm not really sure why. I think it's just one of those things that comes around every 50 years or so, kind of like fashion. I remember as a kid my Mom collected owls and she had everything under the sun with an owl on it, but her jewelry was the best. I wonder if she still has any of that stuff, if she does, she'd be right back in style!
This card was pretty easy to made. The 4 1/4" x 11" card was folded in half and then cut on the top using the Adorning Accents Edgelit, making sure to cut only the center part of the fold. The back of the eyes were made using large circle and scallop punches. The center of the eye was created by adding a 1/2" punched circle to the center of one of the Natural Designer button....so cute! The nose is the Pendent punch. I used scraps of DSP from Orchard Harvest glued to a paper and then I cut with the Adorning Accents scallop edge before adding it to the front of the card. Stamp a greeting and wa-la you've created a super fun card and used up some of those dreaded little pieces of paper you couldn't bare to to throw away!
Enjoy!

October Customer Thank You Card
One of the things I love to do is to create a special new card for each of my customer that placed an order. It's my way of showing my gratitude for their support and now that I'm started my customer Loyalty Programs it also gives me a place their earned tokens, if they will be receiving their card in the mail. It's a lot of fun to come up with a card and a token that have the same theme. This month, I created a card and a token using the Day of Gratitude (page 27 of main catty) stamp set. The token was a little acorn "stamp" and here is the card:
This was an easy card to create. I took the Crumb Cake piece (4" x 5 1/4") along with the framelit from the Apothecary Accents set and ran in through the Big Shot to create am opening. I then took this same piece of paper and stamped it with the background stamp called Netting (page 127) I sponged the edge with Cajun Craze ink and stamped the leaves across the bottom. I place a piece of Very Vanilla card stock behind the opening in the Crumb Cake piece and stamped the greeting in Early Espresso ink. I then attached the ribbons and added a popped up cut out leave. The Very Vanilla piece of card stock was added directly to the base of the card while the Crumb Cake piece was place on top with dimensionals. There you have it!

Christmas Stamp Camp
It's the first day of Fall! While everyone is out racking leaves and preparing for all the fall activities, I've been inside working hard to get ready for Christmas.....Yes, it's time to be thinking about Christmas! I thought for the October stamp camp I would focus on making some fun, easy to reproduce, fast to make Christmas cards and projects. So without further delay.....here they are!
This first group of cards and 3D project are super quick to make because the use the pre-printed Snow Festival Designer Tags for the Holiday mini catalog and pre-made mini note cards. All you have to do is stamp a greeting to the tag, (I used the stamp set "Greeting of the Season" item #128033 for all of them) dry embossed a piece of card stock and add them both to the little mini note card. For the candy treat holder, cut out a petite pocket with the Big Shot, wrap the tag around it and add some baker's twine. SuperDuper easy and fun to reproduce.
This second set of card is created using the stamp set "Scentational Season" item #121190 for the Holiday mini along with the Festival of Prints Designer series paper stack. For $6.95 you get 48 sheets of 4.5" x 6.5" pieces of paper, that when cut in 1/2 will give you enough designer series paper to make almost a 100 cards! At camp we'll be making 4. The cards also feature the new ribbon slides and stitched In Color ribbon. But you can't have a card with a cup of cocoa on it without.........a cup of cocoa gift!
Isn't this cute! I saw this blog and instantly knew it would make the perfect 3D project to go along with my cards. This scored folder uses the same stamp set "Scentational Season", but did you know this set also has a matching Framelits die set? How cool is that! Stamp, cut and you're done. Too cute and so much fun to give. How much would this be to receive.....chocolate and peppermint...how can you go wrong!
Lastly, I wanted to show you the cool new Core'dination card stock on a card. This card stock, unlike all of Stampin'Up's other paper, has a white core, so when you emboss it and sand it the white comes through.
It is so much better in person, because you can see the rich texture and feel the velvet created by the paper. It's hard to see, but the star is stamped in gold and accented with a pearl and the "Wisemen" are misted with a thin layer of sparkle to give the feel of traveling through the starry night. This a a classic and elegant Christmas card that looks like you spent hours on but didn't.
Well, what do you think? I'd love for you to come to camp and make all these wonderful cards/projects. The date will be Friday October 12 from 6:00-10:00. Please let me know if you would like to come and if you are already on my email list you will be getting a detailed information about this camp soon.
Smiles,
Stacey
