June Paper Pumpkin - Hello to you.

This little box you get every month is actually quite fun.  This time there was a zigzag background, hello to you, and small heart stamps and 3 diecut hexagons in polka dot yellow, red pattern (self adhesive) and blank white in addition to the base cards and envelopes and a soft suede stampin spot.  The base cards have little hexagons cut that you can punch trhough but I left some of them for a more minimalist look that I liked.  For the one on the left I punched out 2 of the windows, stamped the heart through one and attached the polka dot yellow one on the inside.  Then I stamped hello - stamping off each time to get the gradation and stamped the "to you" on the inside to the right of the heart- you can't see it though.
I played with the supplies but I really LOVE the square zigzag background so I started to play with that- the card to the left is one I made using just one layer of whisper white and the new in-colors- I did use stampamajig to place the squares- kind of fun card- beach colors- Coastal Cabana on top left,  Crisp Cantelope on right top, Strawberry Slush bottom left and Pistachio Pudding bottom right- HELLO to you is in Baked brown sugar.  I thought about punching out a heart stamped with the red zigzag and putting it over the pistachio square but I stopped myself. I think this would be a great background for lots of punched shapes
This is a variation from above using the the square from this set in Pistachio pudding then stamped the flowers from Summer Silhouette in Strawberry Slush  and sentiment in Baked brown sugar again for a one layer card.  Added little tiny pearls in the center of the flowers - the large one had black stamens stamped first.

I am enjoying these kits much more so than I would have imagined.  I hope you are too.....

Swallowtail embossed in Pool Party

I made these cards for some thank you's this month.  It is Swallowtail and Curly Cute  embossed in Pool Party EP onto Early expresso CS. One layer card really easy but quite dramatic- I am trying to play with different Embossing powder colors as well. What fun!

Another Wonderful Winterland CASE

Base of whisper white CS base and use a scrap piece of paper to cut out a curve you want and stamp the Lovely as a tree in Midnight Muse. Now these new stampsets are not as quick drying as the old formulation so I used that to my advantage by using a piece of sponge with the mask still in place rubbed the stamped trees to get a blue smudge-y background which totally works.  Then stamp the little guy in black (I use memento black but staz-on will work too so the colors do not run) and then colored it in with Bashful blue and Real red and blush blossom for the face. Stamp another little guy and cut out using Eclipse paper or some other thin piece of paper to create masel.  I then used the curves of the mask to lay it down on different places and used Bashful blue to add some more colors to create the valleys in the snow and the little skating pond. Stamp the sentiment from Friendly Phrases in midnight muse and use 2 way glue pen to add sparkle over the trees and top of the snow banks with dazzling diamonds. So cute!  Again, totally cased from Janine Tinklenberg http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.com/stamps_paper_scissors/2012/09/two-one-layer-cards.html

Winter Wonderland CASE

So I made whole bunch of these cards- I thought they were just so stinkin' cute!

Again, took a whisper white CS base and used a scrap piece of paper and cut out a curve I wanted and stamped the Lovely as a tree in Midnight Muse. Now these new stampsets are not as quick drying as the old formulation so I used that to my advantage by using a piece of sponge with the mask still in place rubbed the stamped trees to get a blue smudge-y background which totally works. I then stamped the little guy in black( I use memento black but staz-on will work too so the colors do not run)  and then colored it in with bashful blue and real red , Crumbcake on the feet and hair and blush blossom for the face. I then used the curves of the mask to lay it down on different places and used Bashful blue to add some more colors to create the valleys in the snow. Stamp the sentiment from Friendly Phrases in midnight muse and use 2 way glue pen to add sparkle over the trees and top of the snow banks with dazzling diamonds. Don't forget to add sparkle to the trim on the little kid's outfit!
Details on the coloring.

Enjoy!

Case from Janine Tinklenberg

I don't get a chance to spend a lot of time perusing through internet but I love this Wonderful Winterland set and wanted to use it for my next stamping party but I was not inspired by much of what I saw until http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.com/stamps_paper_scissors/2012/09/two-one-layer-cards.html  by Janine Tinklenberg. I love how she used the Lovely as a tree as the background which I think totally rocks it.

Easy almost one layer Summer Silhuette

I like to include a little thank you with each order I deliver when I can. But it has to be easy to make and one layer if possible.  I took whisper white and stamped Summer silhouette leaves in Lucky limeade, then the little starburst flowers adn the Sentiment from Lacey and Lovely in Raspberry Ripple. Stamp the big flowers with Daffodil Delight and then the starburst in the center with same raspberry the handcut- Yikes! (but I only did 2 flowers each) - and mount with dimensionals.
Easy peasy Silhouettey!
This could be an easy stamp and stack with change in sentiment to fit whatever occasion you have!
Enjoy!

Scentsational Season CC387

Splitcoast challenge today was to use Old Olive, Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse.  Such a great combo challenge from my idol Karen Barber.  So this is such a simple card, how I like it- not quite one layer but almost. I've been meaning to use this set for something other than a holiday card and I thought the sentiment lets me do that. Stamp the mug from Scentsational Season in Midnight muse, and the steam in Old Olive.  Stamp the sentiment from Kindness in Bloom in Raspberry Ripple and the candy cane on a scrap piece of whisper white and cut it out rounding out the bottom to fit the mug and just taped on- because I was too lazy to mask but I thought it looked great for a two minute card.  Clean and simple how I like it.  Enjoy!

A simple thanks

The new Stampin Up colors are growing on me.  As a demonstrator I was able to get some new preview stampsets from the new catalogue before every one else but I really want the new butterfly set and punch but I will have to be patient like everyone else until June 1st to order it.  We have been in serious need of a good butterfly.   Thankfully the Papaya Collage Set has a darling butterfly with a center that has been left open that I just adore and perfect for embellishing.
So for my friends who placed an order this month will get this simple hand stamped thank you in their bag.

It uses all the new colors 2012-2014 ( the new foam pads are amazing- so juicy with an even center so no tapping gazillion times to get really well inked!)  with rhinestone jewels in center- it looked great with just one but I thought it looked better with 2 each - with 150 per pack you can really go crazy with those.  Pretty with pearls too.
The thank you is form the Everyday wishes set that matched with the simply sent kits.  I am so sad because it is the same font as the Friendly Phrases set that I adore and I use this all the time for my thank you but this one is retiring end of this month- I reckon I will keep this little gem for my own use.

This idea is really simple.  Take any stamp you like and repeat it multiple times using different color stamppad and you can get myriad of different cards with the same idea.  Easy make and take and demo card

Bright Blossom variations

Another play on the Bright Blossom set. I wanted to find a different way to play with the sets to create a border. The circles are about 1/2 in diameter so I used a ruler as a guide- about 3/4 in in from the left edge to stamp the circles in a row using Poppy Parade. Then I stamped just the vase part of the rectangular vase image along the left. I used the stamp lined up using the Perfectly Placed Guides on my acrylic blocks and it was pretty easy (I am not that compulsive so I eye-balled it mostly).
Stamp the vase and the branches three times as shown in Lucky Limeade and sentiment from Pursuit of Happiness in Poppy.
Punch out the flowers from Poppy CS with the Itty Bitty shapes punch pack and place a tiny pearl jewel in the center of each.
Have fun playing with your stamps today!

Bright Blossoms Border

Another play to create an interesting border using the Bright Blossoms stampset. Using Lucky Limeade and Poppy Parade markers ink and stamp as shown. Tie Everyday Enchantment 1/8 in organdy ribbon (sale-a-bration) in Calypso Coral. Using the Labels Framelit, diecut a scrap piece of paper using the size desired. Sponge in Pool Party to create a frame. Stamp the sentiment from Pursuit of Happiness in Lucky Limeade. Hardest part is making the border with markers but even that did not take long. Enjoy!

Bright Blossom CAS

Gosh I am having so much fun playing around with this set- I was playing with the idea of creating a frame around the image using different techniques and I really like this one. Diecut a scrap piece of cardstock wtih the Labels collection Framelit and use the negative space to sponge in Pool party from the edge to create a soft frame. Stamp the vase and leaves using Concord crush and Lucky limeade then the flower in Poppy parade. Stamp the sentiment from Pursuit of Happiness in Concord crush and I can tell you this is a two minute one layer card- but I love it!

Bright Blossoms abound

I stopped browsing for a while- I just didn't have time and then when I wanted to make a card, that card image stuck in my head and stifled my own imagination from blossoming. I also got upset when people cased my card and never credited me. Better for my blood pressure if I don't know about it. Let them fester in their own guilt and I will live happily in my ignorance. I always try- the critical word her is try- to make a card for each customer who places an order from me but with my lack of time, it has to be easy to make. I love simple one layer card and this was it. Using the new Bright blossoms image, stamp the stems in lucky limeade and the flower balls in calypso coral along the bottom of the card. Stamp the sentiment in Concord Crush, then punch a 1/8 hole about midway below the sentiment. Put the ribbon through the cardfront to the back, wrap it around the side to the front and around the back and through the same hole again. The ends should straddle the ribbon. Tie it make a bow that stays put! Love this technique! I then made a matching money envelope using same stamping style. Tied a limeade Cardstock strip, then white and then tied the ribbon around that. Easy!
Enjoy!

Easy Peasy One layer embossed Flower Garden

This was a easy technique card I had at my last workshop using the Flower Garden embossing folder. The one on the left top is embossed with the Stampin Up logo on the bottom and the one on the right is with the logo on the top.

The one on the left is watercolored using the lids of so saffron, wild wasabi and elegant eggplant stamppads and aqua painter. The sentiment was stamped using the elegant eggplant. The one directly to the left here was colored using daubers and wht same ink pad colors. The one on the right side top with also colored with daubers using bridal bliss, pretty pink and wasabi pads. I think I did all 3 cards in less than 10 minutes. The sentiment is an oldie but a goodie- Sincere Salutations- which will be available through next year in the new Stampin' Up catalogue. Love it!

I have a really cool card using the same techniques as above tomorrow so come back and check it out!

To you and yours one layer card- well, almost

I really am trying to simplify my life and I guess it is reflecting some on my cards as well. The ideas of a simple one layer card especiallyf for Christmas keep coming up in my head. I also wanted to meet the SCS challenges this week: the CAS layout, the F4AFriday for a christmas card on a fly, and TLC303 to use sponging and then the color challenge of grey concord and marina mist. Thsis image(retired SU) came up to mind which I think is perfect in marina mist.
The base card is just 4 1/4x4 1/4 ( so that it could be mailed in the standard envelope). I scored te edges 1/4 " so that it would have a border without adding another layer. I then punched out a scrap piece of paper using the 2 1/2 inch circle punch and used the paper as a mask to stamp the image in arina mist. Then I sponged some grey on the bottom and some concord on top. Unfortunately some of the color rubbed onto the house image and it muddled it up a bit- and I really like the crisp white of snow on the house so I used the signo gel pen to add some white back over the roof line and in front of the house whern the snaw would be and a little on the trees where there were supposed to be snow too. I then stamped the sentiment in concord grape. I diecut a snowflake from the Northern Frost die ( actually it was a left over from another project but who would know?) and added a crystal jewel to the center then used 2 way glue pen to adhere the dazzling diamond glitter to it and some parts of the card, the roof, the snow and the trees to add a little sparkle. It is a simple card and one layer- if you don't count the snowflake that is.

One Layer Christmas Card- Medallion

This came out of a request by my friend Helen who wanted to use medallion for christmas in an easy to make card so this was what I came up with. Stamped the Medallion in Garden Green onto whisper white CS. Stamped the Merry Christmas from All Holidays set in real red onto another piece of scrap whisper white, punched it out with 1 3/4 inch circle punch and mounted it with dimenstionals. Added a 5/8 inch real red satin ribbon and it really is a simple 5 minute card that you can make on a fly. I thought you could add some red dots around the wreath but thought it better to keep it simple.

One Layer Holiday Cards

I was thinking about creating some simple one layer holiday cards and this is one I started to play with at my last workshop. I still love the Lovely as a tree set but wanted to make it more winter snow covered scene. I ripped a piece of paper to make the snow covered ground and stamped the image using versamark on top of it so that the bottom part of the stamp would be hidden by the "snow". It was stamped onto whisper white CS and embossed with clear embossing powder (but you could also use white if that's what you have) . I then sponged bashful blue- I think it had some celery in it from an old project so it had bluish green hues which was actually quite pretty.
I took sentiment Peace on Earth from Four the Holidays set and embossed with versamark with iridescent ice EP to make a simple wintery card. You could add a little gliter along the snow with 2 way glue pen if you want. Hope your day warms up!

Apple Blossom Wisteria

I have been playing around with the apple blossom (level 2 hostess set from 2010-2011 catalogue ) and these reminded me of wisteria blossoms hanging down from the trellis. I stamped them in almost amethyst and lovely lilac using the rocking around technique to get a little extra color around the edges. The sentiment is from Full of Life set.

Added little tiny rhinestone jewel stickers (non-SU) to accent and a clean and simple one layer card.
