Layers of Color Altered Frame

One of my favorite things to alter are cheap wood frames from Michaels.  They make perfect gifts and are really quite easy to do.  For this frame, I used two Layers of Color stamp sets: Touch of Elegance and Christmas Verses.

I used Memento ink: Rich Cocoa and Rhubarb to stamp the damask image and lightly sponged the edges with Desert Sand.  Perhaps you can see the Goosebumps Shimmer I spritzed on it...  Love my Tsukineko inks and sprays!!

Goosebumps adds nice speckled texture. In the center of each damask, I added a little pearl.

Since Christmas is really all about Christ...I added a Bible charm to the ribbon treatment.

I am considering doing a step-by-step picture tutorial if you are interested.  I am quite a simple stamper and this was very easy to do.  Just let me know :)
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Moxie Fab: Diggin' on Damask Challenge

I made this card for the Moxie Fab: Diggin' on Damask challenge.  For my card I used the Touch of Elegance clear art stamp set from Layers of Color and the Victoria Cuttelbug folder.  The sentiment is from Fanciful Tags.  The inspiration for this challenge on their blog post is amazing...I created my card based on the Classic Canvas Tote Bag in Pink and Brown Damask from MondayMorningStudios... Pink and Brown together just makes me happy!

Personal note:
My family and I are back from a week of vacation up in Virginia and I must say it was the best evah!!!  Lots of swimming, hiking, and even did a crazy zip line course (yep, tethered to a cable hooked around the waist) that has me shuddering that I actually DID it! I impressed the kids so that counts for being a "cool mom" I suppose, lol...it was a lot of fun though!! The foliage in the mountains of Virginia was beautiful... We topped the week off with a trip to an Carter Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville, VA, on the way home and picked apples along the mountain side. An absolutely gorgeous view of His creation that leaves you speechless..... Amazing week.  Here is a pic of my craziness...

We went from perch to perch for about 1 1/2-2 hours and never touched the ground until the end.  Quite exciting and scary at the same time.  Definitely looking to do it again!!
Hope to get back to blog hopping this afternoon and thanks for stopping by!

Layers of Color: Tuesday Trigger

The Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Languish in Luxurious was one I just had to play along with!  An idea popped into my head right away and wouldn't let go until I put it to paper, love it when that happens.... :o)   I used Touch of Elegance to replicate the damask background on the wall and for the flowers, vase and sentiment used Merci Bouquet.  Both of these sets are Clear Art Stamps from Layers of Color

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

Exciting Announcement...

I am a member of the Design Team for Layers of Color - An online boutique where stampers can find unique stamp products and be inspired by fresh out-of-the-box ideas.
My very exciting announcement is....I am joining the Layers of Color Design Team! It was such an honor to be the Guest Designer for the month of September and I enjoyed it immensely.  I have enjoyed getting to know the DT members and LOC stampers via emails and at the SNR group...and they have been such a blessing to me.  We would love to have you join us!   Nina introduced me to Layers of Color and the SNR group via her blog back in the winter (thank you Nina!) and once I placed my first order (which was Merci Bouquet), well... I was hooked.  Just love their Clear Art Stamps and Art Stencils.  I am still pinching myself that I am actually working alongside such a talented Design Team... each DT member brings such an artistic flair to their designs that I am beyond thrilled that I get to join them.

For this card I used two different Art Stencils: Natural Flourish and Bella Brocade, as well as one of the damask images from Touch of Elegance behind the Scripture verse.

I know that Layers of Color has some VERY exciting things coming...(first hint: a new release in a little over a week).  All in all, October is going to be a GREAT month... in fact, the new Guest Designer for October will be announced on October 6th!   Looking forward to seeing what  a certain "somebody" has been working on ;oP

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me share my news...  I have a busy day of cleaning house and our oldest sons' baseball game this afternoon.  Maybe (just maybe) I can squeeze a little stamp time in...(I will just "clean" my stamp room with the door closed, wink!)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Touch of Elegance

This is one of my favorite cards I have made with Layers of Color Clear Art Stamps.  For this card, I used the stamp set Touch of Elegance (which is actually on sale this month).  I stamped the damask image with black ink on Soft Sand cardstock to create a dramatic background pattern, wrapped it with ribbon/lace and layered it on Black cardstock.  The beautiful lace on this card is actually from from my dear friend Nina in Croatia.  I hope you saw the post about her over on the Paper Crafts Connection blog...just an amazing testimony of Nina sharing the love of Christ through paper crafting. And if you haven't checked it out, be sure you do as there is a FABulous prize from some pretty popular companies!!! :o)

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

Layers of Color Scrapbook Page

I have a special project to share today that I made with Layers of Color Clear Art Stamps and Art Stencils.  I enjoy scrapbooking, but often have a hard time deciding where to start.  I knew I wanted to scrap these pictures of our youngest when we are on vacation last fall up in Virginia.  Our older two are not as interested in play grounds and swing sets, but Jeb set his eyes on the metal ladder and knew immediately it was something he must conquer (he was also copying his older brother, Dean).

For this page, I started first with the Natural Flourish Art Stencil on opposite corners of a 8 1/2 x 11 page (my favorite to scrap).  I used Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress ink for the art stenciling and stamped some leaves from Nature Walk using Memento Desert Sand.  I created a journaling tab by cutting a piece of Natural Ivory cardstock and rounding the top corners.  However, not wanting it to slide underneath the center picture and get lost I added a damask image from Touch of Elegance stamped on dark
brown cardstock and added some sticky nail heads.
Recently while at my LSS I picked up some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Pinecone) and so spritzed some on my page (before adding the photos, lol!)  It gives it a nice shimmer/speckle look.

Here are two close up pictures of my page:

Sorry this post was so long...this was such a fun page to create that I wanted to tell you all about it. Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day!

Layers of Color Sale...

I made this monochromatic card using Touch of Elegance from Layers of Color.  This set easily lends itself to creating your own patterned paper, and I even submitted a couple of cards using this set to a recent Papercrafts pub call (crossing fingers and toes that one gets picked up, lol!).

Layers of Color is having a sale!  Laura has several Clear Art Stamp sets and all of the Art Stencils on sale.  Thanks for stopping by and pray you have a wonderful day!
