Theme Day- Spring Flowers....and a Sale!

Greetings friends. It is time for another theme, and this time the theme is "Spring Flowers." Can there be anything better? If you would like to see a list of all the participating designers who are sharing spring flower samples, you can find them in order on the Impression Obsession blog.

Here is the list of the designers:

I wanted to share a spring flower that is popular where I live, and that is the dogwood. They are so beautiful. Dogwoods come in white and pink, but I soon found on my card that the white ones were harder to see. Therefore, I decided to color mine pink.

I chose a stamp that is designed for slimline cards, so the final measurement of the pink card is 8 1/2" x 3 1/2." I stamped the dogwoods onto 140lb watercolor paper with black Versafine ink and then colored everything with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush. I decided to leave off a sentiment so that I can decide what occasion to use it for later. I love having generic cards on hand.

Don't forget that there is a sale on the Impression Obsession site (this is not an April Fool's Day joke). It is a great deal if there is something you have been wanting.

Greetings friends. I have a couple of cards today that both use the new "Grow" clear stamp set:

For my first card I stamped some chickens onto white Copic paper and then colored them with Copic markers. I cut them out and then glued them on top of the chickens I had stamped onto the patterned paper. I did this so that I wouldn't have to cut out the tiny little chicken feet.

To add a bit of dimension, I colored under the chickens with green Copic markers to make it look like there were hills on the paper. I finished by adding some clouds and my sentiment.

For my second card, I stamped my potted plants onto 140lb watercolor paper four times using black Impression Obsession Ink. I then colored the plants with some Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. To finish the card, I added my sentiment on top of some IO patterned paper and added a little teal epoxy sticker.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. Can you feel spring in the air? The hint of flowers and sunshine? The February Limited Edition rubber kit is loaded with fun spring-themed items for the upcoming stamping season and is available through March 31st. This is what the kit looks like:

For my first card, I made an Easter tag card. For the background, I cut out a tag from watercolor paper, stamped my image in black Versafine ink, allowed the ink to dry completely and then colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.

The background uses two patterns form the Basics Lime paper pack. I like how easy it makes coordinating multiple patterns together:

To finish the card, I popped up the tag with foam tape and then added a neutral twine. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will stop by again tomorrow for more kit ideas.

IO Theme Day- Green

We have set aside a day to share some fun themed projects! This month’s theme is Think Green!

Have fun checking out what our Designers have made today. Today's participants can be found on the Impression Obsession Blog.

Greetings friends. The theme this month is "think green," which is perfect timing for a St. Patrick's Day card.

For my card today, I stamped my Irish Blessing Image onto 140lb watercolor paper using black Versafine ink. The image includes both the sentiment and the hill/rainbow. Once it was dry, I colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush. The waterbrush helps you fade the color out to white.

To finish the card, I stamped my fleur de lis background in green ink onto a green card and then popped up a die cut shamrock with some foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by!

Greetings friends. Today I want to share a card to give someone when you just don't know quite what to say. I thought the new sentiment was absolutely lovely.

To make the card, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and stamped the two ladies and sentiment using black Versafine ink. After it dried, I colored the friends with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a waterbrush. I made sure to let each section dry completely before coloring an adjacent section to make sure my paint didn't bleed. I also added a blue "halo" around the friends and a brown shadow under the friends to make sure the image was grounded on the card. It adds a bit of dimension.

Here is a close up of the coloring:

To finish the card, I used some IO die cut photo corners to frame my piece.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again tomorrow!

Greetings friends. Today I want to share with you my favorite item from the January release and use it for two very different cards. Does it surprise anyone that I chose a new background? I really love the new Bubbles Cover a Card.

For the first card, I watercolored my bubbles with soft pastel colors so that it would work well for a spring/Easter card. I must admit, that I almost picked the Follow the Bunny clear set as my favorite. He is just so cute includes such sweet sentiments.

I used Copic markers to color the bunny and then fussy cut the image to layer onto the card. The oval die is part of the new Butterfly and Scalloped Frame die set.

For the second card, I changed the color scheme to reds, pinks and greys for a more Valentine look. I chose Valentine colors since the holiday is coming up, but I designed a card that could be used year-round. After all, don't we all need a hug from time to time?

To color the sweet dogs, I stamped them in black Versafine ink and then painted them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. A tip for coloring animals (even humans) is to leave the center of the face a lighter color than the rest of the object.

To finish the card, I paired the dogs with some of the new hearts and layered everything onto my favorite new background.

What about you? How would you use the Bubbles background?

Greetings friends. I wanted to start the blog hop off with an image that just made me smile. I will admit it, I wanted the clear stamp sent mainly for the sentiment. I know a lot of people who are going through hard times right now and I thought this was a good way to acknowledge that while adding a bit of humor.

To make the card, I stamped my mushroom onto cream cardstock using black Versafine ink. I then sponged the whole thing with various colors of brown Distress ink. To give the mushroom a bit of interest, I lightly spritzed the mushroom cap with some water to make it speckled.

For the background of the card, I stamped my argyle cover a card background onto watercolor paper with black versfine ink and then colored the sections with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.

To finish the card, I cut out my mushroom, die cut a rectangle frame and stamped my sentiment. Simple!

Greetings friends. Today we are sharing our favorites from the June release. If you know me, my favorites are usually either funny or very practical. Today's choice is the later.

I absolutely love the new Big Numbers die set because it is just so practical. You can highlight certain events like specific birthdays or anniversaries as well as celebrate your favorite holidays. I chose the 4 to make a 4th of July card, but I know I will be using it for October 31st and December 25th card.

To make the card, I first created a background with that was stamped with a Cover a Card image and then colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. I made a series of these backgrounds so that I could use them throughout the year.

Next, I added some stars and my die cut letters/numbers

Greetings friends. It is a new month with a new Impression Obsession release. For my first sample card this month, I chose to use the new Evening Primrose.

To be honest, I am not sure what color an Evening Primrose should be. I could have used Google, but I chose to color it the shade I wanted instead. I watercolored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. I chose to pair it with some yellow since the colors, when used together, really pop.

I made it into a support card, but it could just as easily be for a birthday, Mother's Day, etc.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
