LA with adidas

Last week I had the privilege of spending a few days in LA with the three stripes and a fun group.
Several archivists and I were invited to the sunshine state, where we got to nerd out about a
special upcoming project I can not wait to tell you more about.

With the help of U DOX we got pampered with great activities, such as watching the Lakers
game (seeing Lebron and Curry play was an absolute highlight) or going vintage shopping and
were well fed at beautiful locations throughout our whole stay.
Thank you for this adventure, connecting with like-minded people is the most precious gift
you
gave us!

I had a ton of fun and hope I get to see our crew again in the near future!

The Archive Room

On Tuesday I spent a wonderful evening with Ernie at the size? x adidas panel talk in the
saatchi gallery where currently the amazing 'Beyond the Streets' exhibition is being
showcased.

We had the pleasure spending a short time almost by ourselves checking out the impressive
collection and where in awe of the curation and mass of inedible rarities!
Ernie himself exhibited 32 pairs of his Adidas basketball collection, and I felt honored to see
my SQ Rivalry amongst his selection.

After some last touch ups on his pairs, the displays where sealed and the doors opened.

At the following panel discussion we had the chance to speak about my favorite subject with
f3lix and DJ Semtex - the socio-cultural background of various sneaker models.

A quick meet with Jason Coles and Thomas Turner was the icing on the cake.

A big thank you to Size? for this great short trip and to everyone who came out even though
I hardly got to talk to most of my guest. Hope I see you again soon

Adidas Home of Culture

Another recent project I have been involved with behind and infront of the camera was this
campaign my friend Mel thought up with Mr. Bianco about my home turf.
Star of the clip is the beautiful Steph, who's just a total pro infront of the camera.
For the film I took part as a sneaker advisor, talking about one of my favorite Adidas models,
the Rivalry.
I also got the chance to shoot some 'Kiez' pictures around my home for the print campaign,
that promotes Steph and the campaign in Snipes Store in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Always a pleasure to work with the three stripes!

adidas x Meissen | Centuries of Expertise

adidas Originals and Meissen have come together to create a 1 of 1 art piece:
the ZX 8000 Porcelain.
Comprised of premium adidas leather hand-painted by Meissen, marvellously
hand-made Meissen porcelain overlays, and weighing exactly 950 grams, this
unique creation will be auctioned by Sotheby’s in New York City from December
7-16th, 2020.

The ZX8000 Porcelain will be offered in a single-lot, online-only auction which
is open for bidding from 7 – 16 December, with an estimate of $1 to $1,000,000.
Proceeds from will sale will benefit the Brooklyn Museum to support ongoing
programs providing access to the arts for local youth.

adidas will also release a commercially available ZX 10,000 shoe inspired by the
Meissen craftsmanship and design later this month.

John Clark's Adidas Pub

Some of us sneaker lovers used their corona time really creatively!
Like John Clark who has been a keen collector of Adidas trainers for 10 years.
“I always liked Adidas trainers as a kid but could never really afford them. As
a child growing up in the 1980s money was always tight”.
Now he’s got around 150 pairs of vintage kicks from the ‘70s ‘80s and ‘90s
and his giant shoebox bar is a shrine to the brand.  It took around two weeks
to build and seven weeks to create the iconic look.
“I cut out the logos and individually cut out all the stripes which took ages – a
day per stripe!” says Clark.

But the biggest challenge was tracking down the right paint.
Big companies like Dulux and Johnsons wouldn’t mix the right colour for a life-
sized Adidas shoe box. It was a local company Paint Master in Hazel Grove that
made the project a breakthrough design.
“By sheer fluke Hazel Grove happens to be the headquarters of Adidas UK.
I emailed the paint company and one of their relatives happened to work at
Adidas and they were able to get me the actual paint colour reference.”
Inside the Adidas shoe box Clark has built a traditional pub complete with a
gin shelf two beer pumps Sky Sports and vintage bar furniture.
“You can’t shut the pub at 10pm if it’s in your back garden” jokes Clark on
pandemic curfew regulations. In the future Clark plans to add hydraulics to the
design so the lid of the box lifts up.

Sole Origins

I had the pleasure to be featured in the current episode of Complex's
Sole Origins!

I had a great time with the @calico_incand @zen team filming this and
really like the outcome.
Great job @justinrching@dannyleeworks @karimwasabi @budgerodriguez

and everyone involved in this!
Although you hear me talking about Hikmet’s store being one of the first

where sneaker enthusiasts would hang out, I actually was talking about
@mad.flavor.sneakerstore when I made this statement, but it must have
gotten mixed up in postproduction.
Hikmet‘s influence on putting Berlin on the world sneaker map is obviously

undeniable and beautifully described in the episode.
Unfortunately Niklas the owner of Mad Flavor (and former employer of

Hikmet) did not make the final cut, but I think it is vital to pay respect to the
people who came before this sneaker culture
turned mainstream and paved the road for current business, like
@mad.flavor.sneakerstore or Downstairs did.
None of us featured here got where we are, without building on what
people who came before us created and cultivated. And none of us would
be where we are today, without the support of many individuals who don’t
take the spotlight. So thank you to all those hard working and passionate
characters behind the scene - you are sneaker culture!

Foot Locker x adidas Tresc Run Launch Event

I just got home from Foot Locker's adidas Tresc Run Launch event at
Parkhaus X-Berg. The absolute highlight of the night was a super
intimate concert with Action Bronson – what a treat!
Over all a great evening with good food and music.
Thank you Foot Locker and adidas for the invitation!

Maker Lab Pop-Up at 747 Warehouse Street

During their All Star weekend 747 Warehouse St festival adidas invited
several people to team up with adidas designers and influencers to
explore their creativity and build the future of basketball with their very
own adidas prototype at the Brooklyn Creator Farm/MakerLab pop-up.

throughout the 2 days, 6 footwear workshops where held, where 92 shoes

in total were built. Here are some impressions from various Insta accounts
like: Marc Dolce, CarbonJake Danklefs, JBF customs and many more

My favourite creation is this all over Futurecraft with a touch of vegan
