Belong To The Wind marks Forager Records’ debut release: A lovingly curated collection of crooning psychedelic folk and soul songs gathered from American 45s of the 1970s. The compilation features 10 songs from 10 different acts, each with an indelible story of love, loss, loneliness, and an unrelenting desire to shed the confines of routine existence.

Meet a man named Denny Fast, perched behind a tobacco-stained piano in a smokey Michigan lounge. He’s singing of the faded memory of distant hope and better times past. Listen to a portrait of the heartless Texan, told in arrestingly angelic prose by Connie Mims of St. Elmo’s Fire. Contemplate with Snuffy, the honest musings of a failed and misunderstood outsider, daring to hope for change.

Belong To The Wind aims to shed light on the more opaque cuts of these brooding artists. Many of these songs were recorded at the early stages of a career, at a time when experimenting and searching are pursued with reckless abandon. As a result, these songs are aggressively honest and uncompromising. Many have a distinct sense of the lo-fi DIY variety. Others are polished in production. Some are minimal, tentative and vulnerable. What all of these songs share, is a transportive quality. An uncanny ability to take a captive listener on a search for the soul, and a journey into the bellowing fields of easy reflection.

Don't think "African rock", think spiritual jazz – as the set's a brilliant blend of the funky styles of Akira Ishikawa and his Count Buffalos combo with some deeper percussive elements that bring a whole new global sound to his music! Ishikawa was already a tremendous talent before this point in his career, but this set represents a handful of African-titled records that really had him hitting his stride – taking an older Japanese funky band mode and fitting it to some hipper elements for the 70s – including some sweet electric touches, used in all the right ways!

Τα Όμορφα Ποιήματα είναι ένα underground project που δημιουργήθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια του εγκλεισμού λόγω της πανδημίας . Ούτε όμορφα είναι, ούτε ποιήματα, αλλά ιστορίες αποξένωσης και απομόνωσης σε αστικά τοπία, έρημα πάρκα, άδειες πλατείες, λευκά δωμάτια.. Η καραντίνα για μας ήταν διέξοδος για να περιγράψουμε την πραγματικότητα που ζούμε, σαν να την βλέπουμε από το μάτι μιας φωτογραφικής μηχανής, εκεί όπου όλη η εικόνα της καθημερινότητας μας ανταποκρίνεται στην αλήθεια μας. Τα όμορφα ποιήματα είναι μικρές περιπλανήσεις καθημερινής τρέλας, στις οποίες συμμετέχουν τα ίδια ως πρόσωπα και όχι σαν προϊόντα μυθοπλασίας.. Συχνά θα τα συναντήσει κανείς με σκυμμένα κεφάλια να πηγαίνουν στη δουλειά, να κάνουν βόλτες στα Εξάρχεια για δίσκους, βιβλία και να ζουν στον κόσμο τους..μπας και σωθούν...

Max Roach His Chorus And Orchestra – It's Time 1962 (Impulse!)

This Max Roach date is an unusual set. The outing featured the drummer's all-star sextet (which consisted of trumpeter Richard Williams, tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan, trombonist Julian Priester, pianist Mal Waldron, and bassist Art Davis) joined by a vocal choir conducted by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and orchestrated by Roach (who contributed all six originals). Unlike most other collaborations, the choir was not overly gospel-oriented and was utilized as a sort of jazz ensemble. Each of the horn players has a feature or two and singer Abbey Lincoln stars on "Lonesome Lover."

Fred Van Zegveld – Dynamite 1969 (Park)

Fred van Zegveld became known as the organ player of a charting Beatlesque group called Roek Williams & The Fighting Cats, though they changed their name into Roek's Family on the day Fred joined them in 1968, ready for their biggest hit Get Yourself A Ticket in '69.

The story goes this album was recorded in a lost hour of studio time because the band that rented the studio didn't turn up. Fred van Zegveld and his band where there at the right place and time.

Fairport Convention – Unhalfbricking 1969 (Island)

The record where it all really came together for Fairport Convention -- the point at which the already-great group really stepped forward to become something totally unique! By this point all the key elements are firmly in place -- sublime vocals from the great Sandy Denny, amazing guitar and songwriting from the young Richard Thompson, and an overall approach to the music that was way more than folk -- in the way the elements are layered together carefully, and build in these hypnotic lines that are completely amazing -- almost modal in conception, but much more subtle -- and the quality that really makes their work so unique.
