5 on Friday!

I haven't done one of these in awhile. I always liked doing these Friday posts because I felt like it was a quick way to write out some happenings of my week. I think I want to get back in the groove of doing these!

1. State Testing
Today, my kids take their state history test. This was my first year teaching history, so nevertheless, I'm super ANXIOUS about their scores.
2. Lilly Pulitzer Madeline sunglasses
At an affordable $38, this little gem is going to be mine. Not to mention, they come in one of my fave prints: Hotty Pink First Impression! I picked up an extra shift at my 2nd job this week, and I think I might use the extra cash to purchase these.
3. Test Taking Treats!
Due to being nervous about the test, I was inspired by some things I saw on Pinterest last night and decided to craft some encouraging words that are being attached to a treat [box of nerds] for my students to enjoy during homeroom tomorrow.
4. Royals in my Hometown
How exciting about the Royals being in my hometown this weekend for a wedding! There has been lots of coverage already such as their supposed landing and what not. Very Exciting! Wish I could just catch a real life glimpse of Prince Harry. Yum:))))

5. Kohl's $10 Gift Cards
Do any of you get $10 Kohl's cards in the mail? I'm not a Kohl's shopper, but everytime they send me 10 free bucks, I use it. I normally get fingernail polish, nike socks, etc. I've seen this jewerly line at Kohl's in the past, but I didn't think it was something I wanted to spend retaiil on. I went to Kohl's last weeked to spend my free money, and they had these on sale for 40% off with an extra 20% off. After using my $10 card, I only spent 2 bucks total on these. They are teensy so they don't seem to kitschy or kiddy for that matter. Very subtle and cute! They sent me another card, so I'll be going back tomorrow!

5 on Friday

Here's the 5 things on my mind this week!

Lampshade Collection
1. I'm loving the new items in the Scentsy fall/winter catalog! Definitely check it out. LOTS of cool stuff:) There's even a new camo warmer!

Positive Vibes
2. Feeling blessed by all the positives coming my way! I helped facilitate an in-service at school with a friend of mine. We showed our co-workers some of the new things we learned during a cool workshop this summer. I was really nervous! It made my day to see one of my fellow teachers post and tag me on facebook saying it was interesting and informative. Totally made my night:))))) And, I had my SHG test done this week. The u/s tech said by the first look everything is normal, but she still has to manipulate the images so, I still have to wait for the official word, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I didn't have any problems like I did with the HSG and am very thankful the test went smoothly.
Erin Condren teacher planner
3. This is the first time I've ordered a teacher planner from her. I definitely want to order one during her sale in May to have ready for the beginning of next school year. I like that it's big, the lamination is good, a list of all the holidays in the front!, stickers for teacher things like duty-IEP-holiday-testing-benchmark-observation-testing etc. I CANNOT wait to start writing in this thing this weekend.
watching old school movies
4. Last Saturday, the Indiana Jones movies were on tv. We watched all of them. I LOVED these movies as a kid. LOVED is an understatement--Indiana Jones was my hero. Little tidbit for you new readers, when I was a kid I wanted to be an archaeologist. Then, a girl in my class was being really snotty one day and told me her mom told her that archaeologists work two jobs because they don't make money and it's not worth it. Talk about shattered dreams. If only I knew this girl would be a mean girl to me most of my life and that she was just jealous. Maybe, I would have chased my dream. C'est la vie...
50 shades of opinions
5. Dakota Johnson---put some mousy brown hair on her and minimal makeup, she could probably pass for Anastasia. FYI, she is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.
Charlie Hunnam--didn't even know who this guy was. I don't hate it, but I still picture Christian Grey being played by Christian Bale. And if you're going to cast someone who's 33 to play Grey, why don't you just go ahead and up the age in the film adaptation and cast Bale. Bale would be THE perfect Christian Grey.
And that my friends, is my two cents;)

Back to School 3: Smells like ABC

It's that time again! Almost all items in the Scentsy catalog are 10% off (just a few exclusions!)

We are transitioning from the Spring/Summer catalog to Fall next month. So, get it while you can before items run out.

Wouldn't either of these be so cute to give to your child's teacher to start the year off? Cute AND 10% off:)))

If you have any questions, would like to host a party, place an order, etc., just let me know. I LOVE to talk about Scentsy:) You can reach me at southernbellejm{at}gmail(dot)com

Back to School 1: Pencil Sharpener Review

If you're a teacher, you know your classroom pencil sharpeners break often due to excessive use or because they're cheap.  I saw a pin on Pinterest about this awesome pencil sharpener that was designed by an actual classroom teacher. Immediately, I went straight to the site from the pin and requested to review the sharpener by Classroom Friendly Supplies.  I received it and tested it out a few weeks before school let out.

front of the sharpener
The clear middle is actually a compartment that can be pulled out in order to dump the shavings.
If you notice the hole at the bottom, that is where you can put in the clamp (it's included) that way the sharpener is stationary and stable.

One of my students sharpening her pencil.

My students fought over this sharpener. Well, not fought in the literal sense, but argued about who was going to use it first. The sharpener takes a little bit of getting use to because it's not like the traditional pencil sharpener, but once you do, it's awesome. It sharpens very well. The lead comes to a very good, sharp point without crumbling lead once my students put the pencil to paper. I would definitely recommend this sharpener:) FYI, I did keep it on my desk that way I could monitor the use of it. As you can see in the first picture, I've already unpacked it to use for the new school year.

The one con I found was that it doesn't come in pink! ;)
