Golfer Cake

Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.  Mine has been very busy.  In my last post, I mentioned that I needed to make a cake for my father in law's 75th birthday.  He is an avid golfer so I knew it had to have a golf theme.  So I searched the internet and found a really cute golf cake.  I knew that I should be able to duplicate it - I just didn't realize how long it would take to do it!!  I think it came out really nice though.  Below is a photo of it:

I am not a professional cake decorator by any stretch of the imagination.  I just like to dabble in it for family events.  I had a very hard time finding cake decorations that were for golf.  I went to AC Moore and Michaels.  Finally I had decided that I would have to use stickers and "make it work".  Then I walked around the next corner and on a clearance aisle there was to golf decorations!!!   I was so excited.  The golf cart is a Jolee's sticker though just held up by a toothpick.

Everyone at the party thought it was really nice and that it tasted even better!!

Have a great day!!

JustRite Sketch Challenge -JRC_020

Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone has big plans for the long Memorial weekend.  We are attending my father in laws 75th birthday party on Saturday.  I was asked to make the cake and since he is a big golfer, I found a cute cake that I am going to "try" to replicate.  If it come out nice I will post some photos.

Today I am playing along with the JustRite Friday Challenge - which this week happens to be a sketch challenge sponsored by Copic Markers.  These markers are AWESOME!!  Even as someone who isn't very good yet at coloring, I love my Copics!!!

I chose a designer center from the "Friendship" set by JustRite, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders.  My sentiment "Family" is the Curlz Font Ensemble (50 point) also by JustRite.  I added a row of hearts using the Martha Stewart Lace Heart border punch.

Here are the rules for playing the JustRite Challenges:

JUSTRITE CHALLENGES

We will post our challenges for the whole month here on this page, by the first Friday of each month, so if you choose to participate you can plan ahead and be sure to have whatever product we'll be using. Then watch for the detailed post each Friday on the main page of the blog, giving you more specific instructions for that week's challenge. We will offer a prize each week for the winning project! (JustRite design team members are not eligible to win prizes, they'll just be sharing links to their creations so you can see some more weekly challenge inspiration!)

You will need to use JustRite products for your project and upload your weekly project to an online blog, gallery or photo hosting website and then link to your project back here on our blog post, using the Mr. Linky box that will be provided each week on the challenge post (spam or commercial links will be removed). If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_001<== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page.

Update: We now have a gallery on Flickr. You can read all about how to upload to it in THIS blog post AND you just may win some JustRite products for doing so! When uploading your Friday Challenge projects to Flickr, please use the weekly challenge code in the Tag section.

Welcome Baby Owen

Good morning everyone.  Today I have an adorable baby card that I made for an upcoming baby shower that I am invited to.  I cased this card that I found on Becca Feeken's blog.  She has an amazing creative imagination.  The family knows that their baby is going to be a boy so I decided to use lots of blue.

The baby carriage was created using Spellbinders Classic Circles.  The wheels were created using SU circle punches.  The lace was created with SU Scallop Edge border punch.  The carriage handle was made with my Cricut Expression and Accent Essentials cartridge.

To dress the card up a bit, I embossed the blue mats using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  Kaiser pearls were added in each corner as well as on the carriage wheels.

The baby's mom has already decided on his name so I wanted to make sure to personalize the card to make it more special.  I used the 15 point Times Roman font along with the 2 3/8" round stamper by JustRite.  I think personalizing cards makes it so much better.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers - Times Roman 15 Point font, 2 3/8" round stamper

Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue

Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Circles, SU circle punch, Kaiser pearls, Cricut Expression, Accent Essentials cartridge, Offray lace, SU scallop edge border punch, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

Today I have a beautiful wedding card that was soooo easy to make.  All you need is a few border punches.

I saw this done here.  It is such a simple card but it is actually very pretty.  All of my border punches are from Martha Stewart.
