Great News

The local quilt shop where I work has a new name "Stitch and Bobbin" and a new owner "Stephanie". I'm beyond excited and I get to keep my job! This is so exciting, I'm looking forward to what changes are yet to come.
I finished this little quilt from the book Simply Fat Quarters. The blocks are very easy and the fabrics make a nice statement in the kitchen.
I've also been busy doing a bit of painting, I wish I took a before picture. The paint is called Cottage Paint and doesn't need sanding or any kind of prep before painting. This piece still needs a light coat of wax.

Happy Quilting!

Two Thimbles Quilt Shop

Yesterday I had a visit to this fantastic shop, Two Thimbles, I was dropping of my sampler challenge quilt to be displayed in the shop. I'll show the quilt in my next post. For now enjoy this lovely shop and if you see anything you need, give the shop a call. I could spend a few hours here, if you are in the area it's worth the trip.

The displays are filled with so much to see.

Lots and lots of reproduction fabrics.
More reproductions and Jo Morton fabrics.

Love the baskets, the shop has a good mix of more fabrics than just reproductions.

Look at these wonderful greens for spring projects and St. Patrick's Day.

Isn't this quilt stunning.....I love it!

Lots of incredible quilts hanging everywhere.

The quilt above the cabinet is sooooo much better in person.

I hope you enjoyed this little visit. Happy Quilting!

Patchwork in Florence

We are home again after our vacation in Paris, Rome and Florence, turned out to be the coldest winter in Europe in almost 30 years. We missed the snowfall in Rome but found some snow in the small medieval town of Siena about 2 hrs north of Rome. We didn't stay there long but really enjoyed the narrow streets with lots of shopping and good food in the local restaurants also know as Osteria's. As we moved onto Florence about 1 hr from Siena we found it cold but no snow. Florence and Siena are very similar only Florence is a lot bigger. The weather didn't stop us from enjoying both towns. Walking around the streets is amazing with something different around every corner. A twenty minute walk from our hotel in Florence we found a quilt shop called Agomago.

This shop had a bit of everything, lots of pretty floral fabrics, Japanese books and fabrics to go with the books. I didn't buy much fabric as the prices were very expense at $28 per meter. It's fun to find such a sweet shop while traveling.

You'll find lots of FQ's and notions along this wall.

The shop window display is very pretty. I found all the dress and shoe shops had wonderfully put together displays in the windows, the store fronts are very small and they make the best of it. I wish I'd take more pictures of windows.

The shop also carried knitting and needlework supplies. The hearts in the window caught my eye right away. So it feels very good to be home after seeing some fantastic cities and all the history that goes with it. I think I've seen enough museums and sculptures to last me a while. I'm looking forward to getting back to regular sewing and playing with fabrics.

Happy Quilting.

Paris Patchwork

We found it, doesn't look like much from the outside. A quilt shop in Paris or what it's called by the locals is Patchwork Shop. The owner is a very nice lady and has a good website, the shop is called LeRouvrey.

Inside the shop is beautiful with handmade quilts. Due to space in a Paris apartment the patchwork is all done by hand, both piecing and quilting. The employee at the shop told us about the Dear Jane she had just finished hand piecing and hand quilted, unfortunately she didn't have it at the shop for us to see.

The shop is tiny but with lots of antique quilts to see. The most popular fabrics here are the reproductions.

The Tree of Life quilt is antique and so fabulous to see in person.
The shop sold other goods as well, some glass and other trinkets. The owner has her own fabric line called Romance de Paris which is gorgeous. I bought a few FQ's and 1/2 meters. I'll show the bits I bought in a later post. It's not looking good that I will find any quilting in Rome, my internet searches are coming up with nothing in the city anyway.

Happy Quilting.
