All About Pink

Where has the week gone...we spent the weekend at the lake relaxing. There wasn't much to do since it rained most of the time. We got out for a couple of walks and saw the hummingbirds, a few bunnies and even a weasel sitting in the grass. One feeder had over a dozen birds flying around the feeder, it sure was cool to see that many hummingbirds in one place. I did some cutting for this quilt, the way the windmills are done requires squaring up of each block. This quilt I had 192 blocks to square. Once that is done the quilt goes together quickly. I just put the borders on yesterday....It's done and I love how very bright and cheery it will be for a summer quilt.
Here is a close up of one block and cherry border fabric.

Happy Stitching!

Polka Dot Girls Block 7 and Quilting at the Lake

I'm back....Wow did this week ever fly by, with painting and a few days at the lake it was a busy time and here it is Sept already and the kids are back to school. I hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend, I sure did. I'm not done the painting of the steps yet...too much rain last week and today is more of the same. The days I could have painted we were at the lake on Vancouver Island...it was excellent that we had wonderful weather while we were there. I finished another block of the Polka Dot Girls, I have one more of these larger blocks and 3 of the little ones and then.....I'm done...I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Here is a little basket I made last week, I've been using it for my stitchery. You can find the instructions here. Some of us have been extra busy making several of these baskets, check out Darlene's dozen...they are so adorable.
This is our view of the lake from my in-laws house. Would you believe in the winter the lake comes up close to that line where you see the railing. All the grass, brush and trees are under water and sometimes the lake will freeze a bit too. It's just incredible to see how close the water comes to the house. You can't see it from the picture but the house is on the side of a hill, so they've never had a flood.
While the guys were off Kayaking for the weekend, the girls were busy making this Double Irish Chain. My Aunt wanted to make a quilt from her oldest daughter and since my Aunt and MIL are both not experienced quilters, I offered my help. The three of us finished this queen size top in a couple of days. We don't know yet if the quilt will be a wedding gift or not...the engagement hasn't happened yet but my Aunt is keeping her fingers crossed. She wanted to be ready just in case.

Relaxing Weekend

Well the hot water tank got fixed on Friday, so off we went for a relaxing weekend at the lake. To get to the lake we have to drive to the ferry. And the ferry is about 1hr and 40mins trip and then just over one hour drive to get to Lake Cowichan. My DH and FIL got some guy time fishing in each morning. I don't know if you can see them off to the left in the picture. We had fish for dinner last night...yummy.

I made some progress on my redwork ladies, these designs are from Red Brolly by Bronwyn Hayes, really cute. I have 2 more to do. I finished a pair of socks over the weekend but my daughter got them before I could take a picture. Trust me they were a really nice lime green and turquoise variegated yarn. When I was knitting on the ferry one guy said to me "I like the colour of your socks, it's the same colour as my tiles". I'm trying to picture in my head where one would use lime green and turquoise for tiles...hmmm
