Weekend in California...

On Saturday after working a 5 hour shift I was off to California. I got there around 8pm. First went and saw Derek of course then we all met up for dinner at El torreo on L & 40th St west.  We went with Rick & Robin, Andrew, Brandy & Hudson, my Mom & Dad, Derek & I, and Morgan & Wyatt. It was a fun dinner. The guys of course talked about Dewey stuff, all the parents talked and i loved every minute of sitting and entertaining Morgan and Wyatt.  After dinner we made our way home to my parents to sleep in their trailer. Sunday morning we woke up at 7am (which I was so tired from the long day before) and got ready for church. We went to the Juniper Ward because that is the ward Andrew and Brandy attend and they were blessing our nephew Hudson. After church we went to my parents to pick up my camera that I left at home. Derek played a little baseball with Morgan and Wyatt. Then we were off to the place where Robin was staying just to hang out till Michaela got to lancaster. At about 2pm Michaela got into town on the Metrolink and she was only staying for 40 minutes then going right back to San Diego on the metro. So we all sat around at the metro and just hung out with Michaela. After the Metro station Derek went to Brandy's parents for a Blessing BBQ and I was off to my parents for lunch with Sam, Shauna and the girl. I stayed at my parents for an hour and a half and watched the girls slip and slide and played with them! I just love those girls. After lunch with them I went over to Brandy's parents and we hung out and talked with everyone till about 6pm. Right before we left John Arntz (Brandy's Dad) had us put on 6 sunglasses to look at the solar eclipse (which I found out later that sunglasses don't help, so hopefully we all don't go blind.) After that we went home to my parents and slept! Monday morning my dad, derek and i got up at 3:30am to go to Newhall to drop Derek off at an Amtrak station so he could ride a bus to Bakersfield and then get on the train to Fresno (where he is selling pest control this summer). We got to the station at 4:40am and the bus was supposed to be there at 5:05am. Derek had to be back in Fresno at 9am so it was important that we were on time. Well we waited and waited and waited. Finally at 5:50am Derek called on his ticket and they said that the bus was going to be an hour late. So the bus arrived at 6am and he missed his 7:15 train so he had to get on the 10:15 train and did not get into Fresno till noon. Then he had to go to the Dewey office and get right on the doors knocking for the rest of the day! What a horrible start to his week. After dropping off Derek my dad and i went home and slept for a couple of hours. Then my mom and I went shopping. It was so funny. She asked me what I wanted for lunch that I couldn't have in Az. My first thought was Submachine, but we had that for lunch on Sunday. So my second thought....Tommy's burgers! I love Tommy's. After lunch we went home , picked up Morgan from school and went to go see battleship the movie. It had me on edge the whole time and was a good movie. After the movie we went home, ate a great roast, and just relaxed. At 8pm I got ready for bed and Derek called me. He said that one of the boys had $120.00 stolen out of his backpack. So Derek went over to the apartment and had a talk with all of the guys about it. He knows who it was, but of course there is no proof! As Derek was walking out he saw a tow truck taking his car away. He ran after the truck and told him to stop. The tow man said that there is one lady at the apartments who ALWAYS calls if someone parks where they aren't supposed to. He said he is there at least once a week! That must be one sad lady. Any ways Derek had to pay $180.00 to get his car off the tow truck. Had it been in the parking lot still it would have only been $90.00, had it gone all the way to the yard it would have been $300.00. So I guess we can be grateful he saw it when he did. I just thought it was stupid that some kid stole $120.00 from someone and then Derek had to pay $180.00 to get his car back, so to me this guy stole $300.00 in total! I hate thieves! Well then Tuesday morning came around. Originally I was supposed to start driving at 9am to Az because i had work at 5pm. Well I got a call Monday night asking if i could work 12:15 to 8:45pm because someone called out sick. So I left California at 4:14am and started my long journey to Az. I got home at 11am went straight to bed for a half hour (which was the best nap of my life) then off to work for 8 hours. Basically I got home last night at 9:15pm and just passed out! I love my weekends where I get to go home, but man are they tiring! The other amazing thing about this weekend is how old are the kids are getting. i can't believe the conversations I could have with Ivie and Wyatt now. I also can't believe how big my little Ava & Morgan are. I just love all of my nieces and nephews. I want to move back to California so bad!

Wishing I was home....

I think it is scary to think that life is changing from an Anderson family tradition to a Snider family tradition. Every year for Mother's Day we would go to Valencia and spend time with both of my Grandmothers after having breakfast for my mom. I called home today and asked what they were all up to. This is the first Mother's day without both my Grandma's. I asked my mom what they were doing and she said that Sam and Shauna and the girls were on their way to my parents for dinner. The times have changed! Going to my parents house has now become going to Grandma's. Isn't that weird. It is weird to me and makes me feel old! It is a time to start new family traditions and to carry on with the old. The only problem is..... we just need to be closer to home! I wish I was in California right now. It is only during the Holidays that I feel so home sick. And right now is one of those times I wish I was home! I love my mom. I am grateful for everything she has done and given to me. She is amazing in every way and I love that she gave us such a good home to grow up in that I am always wanting to go back there. I miss the old times, but an so excited also for the future!  Mother's day is a time to reflect and I can't say it enough, I am truly grateful for my mother!

Bye- Bye to the Beus Family...

On Sunday morning I went over to Eric & Alexis house to help out since it was there last day here in Az. I went over and Ollie and I hung out. We will miss Eric, Alexis, Oliver and Jace. . Eric and Derek go golfing all the time and Alexis and I would just hang out. They have been one of our best friends out here and we are super sad they moved back to Utah! It was great having them here with us for the past two years and I will always remember the first night I met them and we played the board game Killer bunnies! Good times!

Derek leaves...

Last week was a whirlwind of chaos and confusion. Derek left last Tuesday around noon and knowing Derek he did not sleep the whole 30 hours before he left. The man was so busy and stressed getting everything done with turning in his grades and finishing his finals. He finished just before he had to catch his flight! We drove to the airport from ASU and we went to the wrong terminal leaving me no time to say good-bye. I dropped him off at the curb and wished him good luck. It was a pretty sad good-bye. I had no time to think about it though because I had to go straight to work. This past week has been very busy and went by so quickly that I am super excited that one week has already gone by. I am sure the rest of the summer will go by just as quickly.

Missing Maggie

Yesterday I called my Dad to say hi and i asked him "So what are you doing today?" He replied "burying Maggie in the backyard" I was instantly so sad. We got Maggie as a puppy bullmastiff. She had long hair and that is considered a mutation in the bullmastiff breed so the breeder just gave the puppy to us because she wouldn't be able to sell her. We got Maggie just after Derek and I had been married so we knew Maggie pretty well, but I was never attached to her. This puppy though was Morgan's puppy! Morgan just loved Maggie. It was her puppy. Yesterday Morgan went to school knowing that her puppy passed away during the night, just randomly. She had been bleeding a little the night before, so my parents knew they would have to take her to the vet to see what was wrong. They never thought that she would just pass away over night though. Morgan went to school, got a headache (or a heartache) and then came home. When i talked to Morgan she wouldn't talk about Maggie. I asked her how she was doing and she instantly talked about Pauly our other dog. Deep down I know Morgan is hurting inside. My mom said she cried all morning. My dad has said that there will be no more dogs, but all I want to do is buy Morgan  a puppy for her birthday! I love Morgan and we will all miss that goofy Maggie. We got Maggie in 2009 as a new puppy so she was only 3 yrs old!
