Thank You For Your Kindness

Time Out #217 begins today. It's a Theme Challenge where we are challenged to be Kind.

The challenge runs from Thursday, June 30th  to Wednesday, July 13th. We are generously sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. Winner will receive a $25.00 gift voucher to the CAS-ual Fridays Store.

I stamped the floral image from Waffle Flower's Jumbo Flower Pot with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink, heat embossed it with clear EP over a masked line and colored it with Zigs. I added a 1/8" strip of Tempting Turquoise card stock and added die cut and stamped sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps Kindness stamps and dies.

Please hop on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

Your Kindness Is Contagious

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Today's festivities are in celebration of World Kindness Day, which takes place on November 13th. The challenge runs from October 15th - October 25th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration theme. To create my card, I used WPlus9's Kind Soul stamps. I stamped my image and heat embossed it with clear EP. Then I blended Fossilized Amber, Seedless Preserves and Spiced Marmalade distress Oxide Inks over the card front, then spattered it with water, then with gold Color Shine. The sentiment stamps and die cuts are from Honey Bee Stamps Kindness sets. I die cut the word kindness four times with white card stock, stacked them and added a layer of gold. The rest of the words are stamped and heat embossed with gold EP.
I used flowers, embossing and shimmer from the inspo list.

Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!

There And Back Again

I came upon this new challenge which I think is just fantastic!! The Library Challenge - for crafters who love books. Well, that certainly is me. I love to read,  I'm a children's librarian in a Pre-K through 8 school, and have worked in the book industry for most of my career. This is right up my alley!!!

The inspiration for the current challenge is The Hobbit. You can take your inspiration from:

The cover

or
The title
or
The story.

I took mine from the cover. If you look beneath the mountains in the cover art, there is a row of trees with black trunks. That is what I focused on. The "sentiment" is the subtitle, or alternate title to the book. I made it by combining words from different stamp sets, embossed them in white on black paper, and then I cut them out and popped up on foam tape.

I love this challenge idea, and I hope to be able to play often. Thank you Marina, for coming up with this awesome idea!!!

Thankful

I love this season of gratitude and the colors, sights, scents and mostly everything that goes along with it. When I saw the CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge #246, Concord & 9th's Layering Leaves dies came right to my mind. I smooshed 3 panels of watercolor paper with the three Color Throwdown #466 Distress Ink colors, sprayed them with Ranger Distress Antiqued Bronze Mica Spray Copper, and die cut them. I mounted the die cuts on Ranger Distress Woodgrain Cardstock, framed the panel with a snippet that had been cut from Avery Elle Scalloped Pierced Rectangle, and added a die cut sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Thanks and Giving Honey Cuts. I must say, I love the way it came out.
