Stars Don't Shine In Singular Places

Right now I am lovin’ stars
I had a play and created a cut file on my Silhouette Cameo
and cut it out using the backing sheet of a 12x12 sheet of stickers, after I removed the stickers.

IMG_2887

I deliberately left some spots blanks and some stars not removed but with the line around them cut
So I could have the outline of a star when I used the sheet as a mask

IMG_2893

I the sprayed the mask with some white Mr Huey, from Studio Calico, and some yellow from dylusions
I then had a play…
I painted over some stars with some clear glue and then painted some more yellow over the top

IMG_2891

love how this turned out
I added some more stars, wooden veneer ones from Studio Calico

IMG_2892

I altered the Pink Paislee wooden letters with some Ingvild Bolme inks
added some resin flowers from D-lish Scraps and a badge/flair from the Greatest View
and the pattern papers are from SODAlicious (I purchased them from Paper Stories)

IMG_2894

and here is the page I created

IMG_2899

see the photo?
It’s one of my favourite.
I just love the reflection in the puddle
I had a play and used the reflection part to create this

So much I could say about this photo, but that’s a whole other blog post and a whole other scrap page!

Paint Some Red Up In The Sky

So many blog posts happening in my head.
So many things I want to share.
So bear with me as I share in dribs and drabs.
As I can…
This page was the result of a little playing
Trying something different
and guess what?!?
I ‘m going to share that with you!

IMG_0682

The background was created using a “Chickenwire Reversed” stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop
I’ve used texture paste, on kraft cardstock, over a stencil, to create the hexagons.
Then painted some of the hexagons with different mist colours.
I loved how it turned out.
Thought it was awesome.
But then worried that if I continued to “do something” with the paper
that the awesome might not be so awesome any more.
So I took a breath and cut around the shape and used it as my background.

IMG_0685

I love how it turned out.
I love the white.
I love the colour.
I love the kraft.

IMG_0687

I love these My Minds Eye button.

IMG_0688

and I really really do love the way this page turned out.
I’m really really  glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.
And I think my awesome is still awesome.
Do you need to step out of your comfort zone?
Do you have something awesome that could be even awesome-er if only you took a breath and jumped in?
What is holding you back?

I Recommend Biting Off More Then You Can Chew

Today’s post is all about learning something
Are you ready to learn something??
Do you want to?
But to start with I have 2 things to show you
First
is this

and
Second
is this

IMG_6806

but more on those later
The two are related
sort of
They are related because
they are both here

IMG_6809

So the first thing I showed you…
this is the story that goes with it

IMG_6814

and the second thing I showed you
did you see it?
here’s a little close up

IMG_6813

more about that?
Back in June, while in Brisbane at the Scrapbook Expo,
the lovely Debbie and I were discussing the new Paper Tape that had just hit the scrappy market
I said how we could probably make our own, being the thrifty person that I am lol
Well, this week Debbie experimented with some craters tape and paper
She printed off some text and was generous enough to send me a sheet
and that’s it there, on my page.
Inspired I thought I would make some too
Here is mine

IMG_6812

and here’s how I made mine

IMG_6804

I used plain old everyday masking tape and a cut off piece of transparency
I put strips of tape on the transparency

IMG_6803

and simply used Microsoft Word to print out lines of numbers

IMG_6805

and dots

IMG_6808

I also ran tape on the back and printed on that side too
I wondered if my printer would pick up the paper, given it was smaller than A4, but it did
I’ve found the tape comes off the transparency better than the paper
I’ve also found that the ink doesn’t dry very quickly on the tape and will smudge off the transparency
So to overcome this problem I used some paper towel and lifted off the excess ink
Still have to get the text to line up with the tape
and I’d like to print a pattern but I do like numbers
and I also have a few more ideas of things I could do using this technique

You Are Beautiful No Matter What They Say

There are some things I think that are important to say
and some things that I think are important to remember
and some thing that I think are important to scrap
this page is important

IMG_6009

it was also fun to make

IMG_6010

Crate pattern paper and a Crafter’s Workshop stencil always make me smile

IMG_6014

lots of lettering and adding a cute Amy Tangerine camera make me smile

IMG_6012

and this heart, that I made, makes me smile too
A while back I received a prize pack from the amazing Louise Nelson
In the pack was a gorgeous tissue covered in music print and love hearts
I cut out one of them, glued it onto some corrugated cardboard
Stitched around the heart
Cut it out
Added some dimensional glue
and ran a black sharpie pen around the outside

IMG_6013

happy that something important has been said/remembered/scrapped!

Please Forgive This Platitude

My turn for a tutorial blog post at Cocoa Daisy
I created this page

IMG_4719

using a technique to create this effect

IMG_4721

you can read my post here
To create this page I used pieces from the “Siren’s Call” kit
I used some chipboard ‘leftovers', which I painted and doodled on

IMG_4722

love using leftovers

IMG_4723

but not as much as I love telling a story

Seriously Delicious

Was the Lemon Delicious that Dave and Elizabeth made
Was one of the recipes in a book she brought home from school
I’m not a big lemon dessert fan but oh my this one was good!!
It was like a thick baked custard bottom (giggle) with a thin sponge top
Yummmmmmm

IMG_1008

and speaking of that little chicky…
Elizabeth went to a birthday party this morning
this was her just before we got out of the car

IMG_1006com

Excited much??!!

While she was there the rest of us went to check out a new local market that has started up
and speaking of markets
I made this

100_2931

about our Farmers Market we visited last month

100_2932

Love this birdy from The Girls Paperie and just had to add some stitching :)

100_2933

I made this layout from scraps and added these chipboard button milk caps, that have been sitting on my desk for forever!

100_2934

and this pleated bit??
Is paper
and easy peasy to do
Put down a line of double sided tape, where you want it to go
Then, starting at one end, place a section of the paper, add a crease then a straight bit, then a pleat etc
The paper is easier to manage this way and you will be able to get a straight line
I like using a finger space between pleats :)

Boo to the end of the weekend
It wasn’t long enough!!!!
