THRIFTASAURUS

Hello! I've been lazy as hell this week & I kinda got this feeling it's going to flow into next week too. No thrift finds for me this week! Can you believe I went to 5 thrift stores & found not one thing to bring home? It was expecting it to happen eventually, luckily it happened when I had such a great trip to Ohio!

Here are some of my Pyrex buys! I have a few more to show off next week, some of the stuff is still packed up. A nice Black Tulip 043 casserole from 1957, I guess these decorater promotionals were for Christmas according to Pyrex Love. Also another brown refrigerator dish has joined the family & also a discounted #401 Americana mixing bowl - perfect for fall! My favourite piece of Pyrex out of this lot is the Barcode. I've wanted a piece for awhile. A long while. I just need a bunch more now... I'm sure you all know how it goes, right? The retro tin is made in 1962 for Mrs. Lelands Old-Fashioned Candies.

This little angel kneehugger is just adorable, isn't she? Look at her little wings! She's about 2 inches.

I couldn't go home without this poodle from the antique market & for only $5! Rae over @ Say It Ain't So is always posting pics of the cutest plush poodles & I finally have a similar one of my own. This guy was made by Herman Pecker & Co. in Japan.

I got 3 sets of salt & pepper shakers while I was there, one is still packed away & was on my want list. These two were a surprise! I love light bulb salt & pepper shakers, I collect salt & pepper shakers, but I collect light bulb salt & pepper shakers. This set has a sticker from '73 & has a saying on the bottom "WATT FUN!" - haha, get it? The other set, I liked because Humpty Dumpty looked a little sinister. I like that.

You know, maybe not finding anything this week was the thrift gods telling me to take it easy... unpack your crap, get it together! You got enough stuff!

I know Halloween just ended, but hey, the thrift stores were dousing out their Christmas goods on November 1st - when are you all decorating for Christmas?

If you found anything second hand shopping this week, I'd love to see what it is & for you to share below!

Thanks for reading & thrift on...

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus!

An eclectic mix of finds for me this week.

I don't shop at Goodwill much anymore now that the one near my home has closed, but once in awhile - I'm there! Goodwill finds are few & far between for me, don't understand why, though. This pertains to every Goodwill I visit, which is why I don't waste my time.  I was in the area, so stopped in on 50% off kitchenware day... lo & behold, a Friendship 441 & 443 - $4 for both after discount. I haven't found Pyrex at Goodwill since winter!

A Halloween blow mold, blow molds aren't something I want to start collecting, but this is something small enough that it will look good on a shelf in my apartment come next Halloween. I have to search for a replacement bulb. I can't decorate this year, my place is too much of a mess.

A 1978 Rock Jam Hilroy Beegees binder, the image is under licensed to Hilroy.

Cards! Cards! Cards! You can never have enough.

Donkey Kong board game. Never knew this existed, cool.

I don't know about these guys, but they were created by Russ (the makers of the '90s Trolls), tagged with stickers "1993 The Funmaker Company". I cannot find any information online about them besides someone asking a question about them regarding an eBay auction on a toy collecting forum a few years ago. They look Tank Girl inspired, which attracted me to them.
Anybody perhaps know anything about them?

Next week I won't have time to thrift! Busy bee.

Link up below with all your second hand finds. Can't wait to see what you've picked up!

Thriftasaurus!

♥ THRIFTASAURUS ♥

Hello there! Still here blogging from my phone... didn't get a chance to work on trying to fix my computer (thanks Amy [ from Actsofsalvage.com ] I'll give you a shout when I find out I can't fix it. This past week, between work and meeting people off the net for vintage purchases (seriously... I held vomit for half an hour while putting on a happy, polite, I haven't been sick for almost 4 weeks look) I've spent all my free time in bed, aside from Friday when my boyfriend took me out shopping since I was feeling a bit better and we had planned it for weeks. I don't know what's going on with all this shady stuff, but I don't like it!  Even my new DC shoes I bought less than a month ago for work are destroyed due to a detiriorated heel liner (looked up ways to fix it... but I am lazy).

I managed to get in some alright finds that are pure Sir Thrift-A-Lot. Pyrex... it's been a tough find lately, but I got a drizzle. The blue grapes or whatever truly needs some work... and I found the 441 a few months ago. Butterprint is mint and the Horizon Blue was $1.99... I think one of my cheapest Pyrex purchases ever! The 443 was a Kijiji buy, completes my set. I love it. The white.and black Goosebery is a favourite if mine.

Remember Robie? I owe this find to my boyfriend... I always pass by all the chords and remote controls, this guy was stuffed in one of those bags hanging with all that jazz. Upon shaking him he seemed broken... but when we got him home, there was a key inside and a Canadian flag pin. Lucky for me the mercury battery didn't explode and my Robie works!

I think I passed this set of $5 shakers up at an antique market a few months ago and after seeing Van on Thrift Core display a vintage whale, guess I was inspired... ya, I know... these are dolphins. Another set of salt and pepper shakers have entered the house! My display case and shelfing for my s&ps is to compacity, so until I find a new solution, gotta keep them off to the side.

Original Dala horse still with sticker and cute vintage Santa mug unused with original tag.

A cute pair of Christmas decorations that I should of posted last week for Thriftasaurus if my computer hadn't died. I'll be featuring the rest of that stuff as time goes by.

Thanks for reading! What did you pick up this week? Link up below...

Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

Wasn't able to get in much thrifting this week, but was still out & about a little bit.

Something about Blue Horizon.. mint condition pieces won't stop coming home with me.

Surprised to find this Rainbow Brite cake pan, along with the original instructions. I had yet to add this to my cake pan collection & according to the tag, it had been there for 3 days.

I've wanted some risque/nude woman swizzle sticks to add to my collection & finally came across some yesterday - $1.99. I'm assuming these are old & not reproductions based on similar ones on eBay.

1977 DC Comics flat sheet. I found the set of pillow cases a while back. I don't collect fitted sheets.

Some 1970's Halloween hangings. I got 3 33" Beistle Nite-Glo Skeletons from 1970 & a 1979 Beistle Flameproof banner that says Halloween - all sealed. I also got 5 of these textbooks on interior design from International Correspondence School, Scranton, PA from 1961. Most of the pictures are black & white, but interesting to flip through & read about interior design of that time period. & some stickers (70's, I am guessing).

I've never seen anything Pee Wee Herman in a thrift before, even though this is a repro, I had to pick it up. Glad to have it.

I can't wait for next week - nice shopping trip planned. Hope you all have a wonderful week, I'm going to try to scan a few images from those textbooks this week.

Can't wait to see what stuff you found this week. Have a good long weekend if you get Monday off!

I'm Seeing Double!!

I went out after work today & a tiny thrifting adventure, just had to get out of the house. Can you believe everything today came in pairs?

This Super Mario Brothers paper table covers have got to be rare, they are from the television show. 99cents each. I found them at the same Value Village as the 2 bags of patches. I really can't believe the patches were still there. I think I bought a bag about a month & a half ago? These are the same ones that were there then, I thought I'd buy them & try to sell a couple. I made $40 last time, spent $2.

I don`t know why I bought these. I just love spending money! Scooby Doo from 1980. If I had a booth, they`d wind up in there.

So would these! I`ve never seen these canisters in the wild. Are they the rarest of the canisters?

I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes from high school:

"Here's to living single, seeing double & sleeping triple!"

IF THERE IS ANYBODY OUT THERE IN BLOGLAND WHO IS FROM TORONTO OR GTA WHO IS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A BOOTH & MIGHT WANNA SPLITZIES AT PICKERING ANTIQUE MARKET OR SOMEWHERE... COMMENT BELOW WITH A WAY I CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU SO WE CAN DISCUSS FURTHER!
We would probably be spending $50 each a month... for a smallish booth.. but let`s discuss!!

Sir Thrift-A-Lot in Rednesday

Sir Thrift-A-Lot
in REDNESDAY

Everything's coming up RED!  Everything I've thrifted this week (so far) has been or had red in it.

It doesn't get more red than a vintage 402 Pyrex bowl. The shine on this bowl is absolutely so fine, I couldn't pass it up, despite a few scratches on it & being followed around the store by some guy. Maybe he wanted a date & not the bowl?

I got 7 sets of these "THUMB WRASSLIN" puffy stickers, made in 1977 by IMAGINATION. Everybody has got a little red on them, from Cutie Kill's shoe pants to Lasser Rate's bright red lips!

There is no bigger pop culture figure in the 1980's that better sums up red. This Mario Brothers plush was made in 1988 by Nintendo of America, by made in Korea.

Has a different, unique tag from the other ones online.

There is so much thrifting lined up for the rest of this week. I am thrilled. So excited. I just hope that it is fruitful! I am a serious thrift store addict.
