Thriftasaurus

Thriftasaurus

Did anybody get any great vintage items from their boo for Valentines Day? Not me, but I did get taken on a grand thrifting extravaganza the day after (had to work on VDAY) & found some nice items. Still seems like slim pickings all over (went to about 10 thrift & antique stores).

My favourite Pyrex piece found this week was the 1959 Compass Snack Server Promotional. It was on sale at a new antique mall we discovered in a town so small that it wasn't even found in our GPS. They didn't take cash, so my BF had to take a trip 1KM into the city to an ATM.

Also in the market there was a stash of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pins & some vintage NOS Russ pins as well as some 75% off vintage Valentines. I'm set for next year.

This pattern isn't my favourite pattern, Shenandoah, but I can buy Bake Serve & Store until the cows come home & they were in near mint condition. Also was called to the sporting goods area of the store (which I never venture into) & laying on top of everything was something I've been meaning to cross off my list for $1.99 - this 1990 New Kids on the Block duffel bag.

One more item to check off my list - this snowflake space saver. I need some spare lids.. I've found 2 spare space saver lids in the wild. I've got 3 space savers to lid up

A 1978 Garfield towel for the beach! A Ms. Pac Man game. Should have double checked this.. missing a ghost. Damn. When will I learn?

I was lucky enough to find a scroll in a thrift... it has a few deep scratches on one side & needs a good cleaning. We'll see how it turns out. These Glasbake mugs are my fav ever pieces of Glasbake (maybe the only pieces of Glasbake I would ever buy). Anyways, finally found one - 99cents.

Can't wait to see what you've found..

Thriftasaurus

Welcome to Thriftasaurus. I hope you join us & show off some of your amazing thrift, yard sale, antiquing & other second hand finds!

The thrifts this week were pretty lacking in the Toronto area, which is OK, I guess because they have been pretty good to me lately, don't you think? We took this past Saturday to go to a couple of little antique malls we know, along with 2 thrift stores I like that I don't get to often.

The biggest bargin was this 50% off Fire King bowl costing me only $2.50. This is from the antique market that peddles bargain containers of salsa, store brand oatmeal (that has been there for months - ew!) & half used containers of cat litter. We were also wrestling with the idea of buying a wine fridge for $15 - it worked & was in mint condition, but then we thought about the hydro bill & the fact that we can walk 10 steps to the fridge...

Despite this market being "junky", the 2 times I have been here, I have found some nice items. I also found these Pyrex pieces here. I just have to say, I really love refrigerator dishes. A lot. I also have to say, I love space savers. A lot. This one, is a JAJ Snowflake, so it's a bit rounded. I need a lid. I am confident I will find one - hopefully before Christmas! I paid $8, no tax. Good price?

Also found these New Kids On The Block dolls. My fiance complains about the amount of items we have in the home & as I am paying for the stuff, I only had Joe & he said, "did you see the other doll?" & he ran & got it, lol. Really... you're complaining, but running to get me a NKOTB doll? Silly boy.

Oh deer, pure cuteness.

Had to get this towel, loved it!

Some vintage Christmas! Cute mugs for white hot chocolate & whipped cream with a cute little vintage Santa. Mugs are made in Japan. I found a similar decanter, with polka dot pattern, but I guess after seeing someone else buy this recently it's called a Houndstooth decanter. $1.99 with lid, couldn't pass. Also couldn't pass on the egg jar. Now all I need is a few light bulb jars.

I found these 2 cute Christmas tea towels - does anyone know the maker (took a photo, but no clue what it says).

That's all this week, looking forward to seeing all the treasures everybody has acquired this week!
I won't be going tomorrow, but to everybody who is going to the Value Village sale in Canada tomorrow - Happy Hunting.

Thriftosaurus & Large Haul!

Starting Thriftosaurus early this week because I'm so excited to show off my finds this week.

A sidebar ad on my Facebook told me my favourite shop in Kesington Market -
Funky Junky - was closing up shop, everything in the store was 50% off & at the end of the month, everything left is going to be auctioned off. The next day, I made my boyfriend meet me after work. We stopped for churos, went to the shop & got our usual Kensignton indulgence - Big Fat Burrito.
Immediately after buying these, I had thrifters regret. The lettering is faded, they need to be cleaned & I feel like I might have bought them just because I felt I needed to buy them as one last hurrah. One canister has a different lid. They were $20. I'm still on the fence about them.

This shot glass set couldn't be any more perfect. My friend & I call ourselves Betty & Veronica... $1.99 with a regular price tag of $20. She's blonde, so she's Betty. I'm happy to be Veronica.

This little vintage exercise book is just darling & at 69cents from Value Village, I couldn't say no.

The only Pyrex of the week, a Butterfly Gold lid for $1.99 & a 402 Tan Stripe Pyrex bowl... pretty marked up with utensil marks, took it as a challenge. We'll see how it turns out.

CB'er Anchor Hocking mug for less than a buck & a unopened package of the Masked Rider napkins, along with that Butterfly Gold lid.

I was absolutely giddy when I spotted these in the store in a bag for $2.99... sad that they were shoved in a bag with a bunch of junk, which took a couple flea bites out of the toothpick holder, but the salt & pepper shakers made it out in mint condition. Are they Norcrest? And 5 Kimberly Fire King mugs.

A collection of things,
a Star Wars Darth Vader glass from 1980 for 69cents.
a Crown jar, with original glass lid for $1.99.
a decanter (listed as crystal on eBay) for $2.49.
(all from Value Village).
I had seen a Crown jar my last visit home in Windsor, had wanted to buy it, but it didn't have a lid. Happy to have this one!

Last finds of the week - New Kids on the Block 1990 Magic Summer tour cup from McDonalds with lid for 99cents (the one on the left). I bought the one on the right previously for a dime.
And last item, a badge/pin/whateveryouwannacallit, that may one strike nostalgia with Canadians... Bi-Way! For those not in the know, Bi-Way was a chain of stores, now defunct, that carried discount basic apparel and general merch.

Hope to see your thrifted finds!
