Make your own protection guard card for a few cents..I've been planing to do this blog for many months. finally
its here...I keep seeing them selling protection guard cards on the shopping show and
they are selling them 2 for $50 plus $10 postage. I say save your money and make
your own..So many people these days are getting skimmed a friend of mine got
skimmed just recently its a pretty scary thought, that people can just walk past
you with a skimmer and you wouldn't even know it ...until you check your bank
account and find money has disappeared from your account and it could be months
before your bank refunds you the money or you could be on holiday, what a
disaster that would be ...Any way back to making your own. This is how I made
mine, I just used an old plastic card the same size as my credit card and
covered it with aluminum foil and you place it in your wallet or purse next to your credit cards and it
stops any one skimming your card ..too easy ...I tested it out when we went
shopping just to make sure it worked, I held my card on either side of the foil
card and it blocked all my information...So I just wanted to share this with you
all....

Keep Your Strawberries Fresh For Longer !
Keep your strawberries fresh !
Don't you just find it frustrating when you buy strawberries and a day or two later they have started to mould before you even get to eat them. What a waste of good money. Here is a great tip, when you buy them next time wash them in 1 part apple cider vinegar to 10 parts water, that will stop them going mouldy. The vinegar kills any mould spores and other bacteria that may be on the surface of the fruit. Then store them in the fridge in a sealed container and they should stay fresh from one to two weeks. You could also do this with other berries. So enjoy your beautiful fresh luscoius strawberries yummo ...

Some Clever Ideas Worth Sharing !
Here are so really clever ideas worth sharing !
My friend Regina sent these to me the other day so I thought I would put them on my blog to show others ....The first one is another use for those plastic tags that are used to enclose things like bread, rice cakes and some other products.
So if your thongs are coming apart because the hole is getting splits, you can use these little tags to stop that happening at least to make them last a little longer until you are able to purchase another pair.
Here is a great idea when painting to keep all the excess paint in the tin by putting an elastic band around the tin.
.
Here is another great idea when drilling holes in the wall
to catch all the debris by pressing a folded post it note to
the wall, you could also just use a piece of folded paper
stuck to the wall with tape or blu tac. Saves so much
mess going into the carpet
To hold nail to place use a comb then hammer the nail in.
Here is another nifty idea to keep your straw in place in a can of soft drink by inserting the straw into the ring pull tab.
Another nifty idea use a clean dustpan
under basin tap to fill up a bucket

Free Phone Number !
Free directory service number !
If you cannot find the number you want in the phone book, or just haven't got the time, then ring 1223 its a free call to get the number you want , just don't let them connect you, because that will cost you, write it down.A lot of you may already know this number, but there may be a few of you that don't , so this blog is for you and perhaps a few of you who have forgotten. Telsta don't advertise this number as they wouldn't make any money , but they need to provide one. I've been going to do a blog about this last year some time, but just never got around to it for some reason. As they say better late then never....doesn't apply from mobile phones. Australian residents only , but I'm sure most countries would have a free number provided by their phone supplier....

Don't Forget To Ask For A Rain Check !
Don't Forget To Ask For A Rain Check !
On Monday we went shopping at Woolworth's, they had the naturale toilet rolls on special, which are the ones we always buy, but they didn't have any on the shelf, so I asked a staff member if they had any in stock, he said they were waiting to be unpacked. I told him we were on our way home and couldn't wait, so could I get a rain check, he said yes and so I got one for 6 packets at the sale price of $4.55 usually $5.57 so a saving of $6.12 , better in my pocket , or towards another purchase of something I need. So just a reminder not to forget to ask for a rain check if its a good special. The rain check is valid for 4 weeks, so we have plenty of time to get them when we are shopping next. So check where you shop to see if they have them if something is on special and they have run out of stock, I know Coles also has them.

Make Your Own Caster Sugar & Icing Sugar !
Make your own caster sugar & icing sugar!
Caster sugar & icing sugar are always more expensive to buy, so why not just make your own. Just buy ordinary white sugar and blitz it in your blender, to make caster sugar and blitz a little longer to make icing sugar. That way you only need to buy one product to create 3 products, saves time and money. Have you ever decided to cook something, then read the ingredients and you haven't got any caster sugar or icing sugar or not enough for the recipe, so you cannot make it or you'll need to take a trip to the shop to buy some.Well I hope this tip will save you both time and money in the future.
Or do you do this already !

Who Thinks It Is Expensive Going To The Movies!
Do you think its expensive going to the movies!
Because it was the school holidays we took Jack to the movies to see Cars 2 which he was really looking forward to seeing. We usually try to go to the movies on the Terrific Tuesdays when possible as its cheaper, last time we went to the movies was last school holidays and we took Jack to see The Dairy of a Wimpy Kid 2. The Last time was on a Tuesday the tickets were $11 each, yesterday being a Saturday tickets were adults $16.50 and children $13 each so in total $46 to see a movie. Kev and I love going to the movies but only to see things we really want to see, the rest we are happy to wait for them to be released onto DVD and get them from the library for free. I remember taking my older boys to the movies in the school holidays when they were younger . The cinema would often have early bird specials on the school holidays, so it would cost us $5 per ticket so $15 in total to see a movie and we always took our own snacks to save a few dollars. That was in 1998, boy things have changed a little. So the moral of the story is, try to go on a Tuesday if you want to save a few dollars ! Or if you want to save even more dollars rent the DVD or spend no dollars and get it from the library for free !

Walking Great Exercise ! Why Waste Money At The Gym !
Walking is great exercise !
I've been walking every day now for 48 days, I'm very proud of myself as I'm not really a big fan of exercise. As a lot of my readers may know we live on a 25 acre block, so I have been walking around the fire break of our block, it takes me 20 minutes. They say if you do something for 21 days it will become a habit, I haven't missed a day, it has become part of my day now. Jack is on school holidays so he has been walking with me but my normal routine is walking to the end of our drive way, where the school bus picks Jack up at about 8am every morning Monday to Friday then I set off for my walk. I love the crispness of the air and it unblocks all my sinuses, my breathing is improving since walking also, which is great,I sometimes walk barefoot, great for earthing me, so much healthier then any gym. You get fresh air, exercise, earthing, beautiful scenery, all the wild flowers, we saw emus yesterday , I usually see heaps of kangaroos, once I saw a fox, all for free. Summer time I'd be scared if I saw snakes, but as its not that time of year yet I won't think about it yet. The photo above is part of the fire break around our block.I've never been a member of a gym , I've always thought it was a waste of money, when you can do some many things that keep you active. My friend Debbie and I used to meet and go walking along the beach that was lovely, look forward to doing that this summer,so Deb if you are reading today's blog, what do you think. Here are a few photos of the wild flowers now in bloom on our block. What does every one else do for exercise, I'd like to buy a bike and go bike riding, that would be a nice family activity to all go bike riding , I will put that on my list !

Hair Removal- A Great money Saving Appliance !
Hair Removal.
A Great money Saving Appliance !
I brought this appliance in 1998 it has saved me so much money I use it for my legs, underarm and bikini area, some times a few stray hairs on my chin, I have two that regularly grow. So this is my 14th year of using it and its fabulous, No more plastic disposable razors to buy and send to landfill,no razor blades to buy for refillable razors. that's the best part no waste of any kind. It cost me about $100 I cannot remember it was so long ago that was 14 years ago , money well spent I can tell you, no more trips to the salon to have hair removed by waxing , save lots of petrol by doing it at home. So every 6 weeks or so I get it out remove all my unwanted body hair, its great its convenient, great for travelling, I highly recommend it. Two tips, no 1 Its not a good idea to do it a few days before period time, but I'm sure most of you will know a few days leading up to our periods the body is more sensitive to pain and No 2 Under your arms, pull the skin a little taut that way the tweezers won't grab your skin. Any one out there use one.....I know it's made from plastic but I'll probably have it the rest of my life. A great little gadget I think every girl should have one. Another tip if you find you get a few ingrown hairs just body brush your skin with a loofah .....

Wind Up Torch Saves Money On Batteries !
Our Wind Up Torch Has Been A Real Investment ! It's called a Mini Magic Torch ! Wind up system No batteries or light bulbs ever required !How many of you out there have had a torch in the cupboard and you go to use it and the batteries are flat ...how frustating is that ...it has happened to us lots of times ..."but no any more"you spent money on batteries and maybe used it once or twice ...what a waste ! Well with the wind up torch you won't have that problem ever again which is great... We have two of them and they are used often and the best part is you never need to buy any batteries for them...how great is that it's a real money saver I can tell you ...We brought one from bunnings in 2008 and so impressed with it we brought another one from bunnings about 6 months or so later ...You just wind them when you need light how easy is that ..(very easy )They have a strap on them and we have one in our bedroom incase the power goes out and one in our sons room hanging on his door so we always know where they are when we need them in a hurry. For the small cost of under $20 no home should be with out one ! They are also great to use for camping ...they would make great gifts for family and friends !
