How Much Do You Love the Earth?

On this Blog Action Day, I'm not gonna be preachy about Global Warming and its effects, yada yada yada... A lot of us might have heard that over and over; the truth is everyone thinks that it's not directly effected them whatsoever. Well, many representations which often mentioned over Global Warming issue are seem so far away from us. People are just being realistic; as much as we wanna care for certain extinctions but the fact is we feel not too related to Polar Bear in North Pole, Penguin in South Pole, Orang Utan in Kalimantan, Panda in China, or Pink Dolphin in Amazon. People are being righteous; I'm a good person, I don't harm others, I pay taxes, and I want the government to do something about this issue. Well, are we good people? If we observed some of the natural tragedies that happened recently, I don't think we can say Amen to that. There IS something wrong with the planet, and we must act together to prevent the worst to happen.

Here is a checklist to know whether or not you have taken part in loving the earth:
- 3R action: reduce, reuse, recycle (you can sing along with Jack Johnson)
- managing your trash; no littering (including ciggy bud)
- buy refill and big size
- bring groceries bag
- carpooling or use the public transport as much as possible
- buy local products
- good driving and good car maintenance
- buy second hand car
- turning off the unattended light and AC
- take the train instead of plane for a short trip between 2 cities
- washing car using leave-on shampoo or not as much
- stop using Styrofoam and wooden chopstick
- responsible disposal (not burning plastic or throw battery to the dumpster).

If you disagree or not doing most of the list, well, its not too late to change. To read more about this topic, please visit this site.

Celebrating EARTH DAY

Watching "Earth": A Beautiful Eye-Opener

courtesy of loveearth[dot]com

Last Saturday I watched this movie with my friends. I should've watched it with CosmoGirl readers that morning... if I hadn't forgotten to pick up the free tix. Man, sayang banget! But, anyways, I'm glad I've asked my friends to watch this documentary... cuz for every purchase of ticket, IDR 1000 will be donated to WWF. Only one word to describe: FANTASTIC. I was so moved by the movie, amazed how those film crews were able to wait and capture those irreplaceable moments in 5 years. The visual was great, the commentary is ok, but the flow in the movie could be better. I guess, I'd better buy the "Planet Earth" DVD series ya... Well, if you have watched "Inconvenient Truth" and enjoyed it as much as I do, then I think you should not miss this ;) So, mark your agenda and go to Blitz Megaplex next weekend. FYI, this movie is only available on weekends (midnite shows). After that, explore www.loveearth.com and see what you can do.

Sunday @ Green Festival- Aksiku untuk Bumi

Please click each pic to read the details...

The above pics show a simple significant way of how we can be a good citizen of earth.

The next day, still in the moment of celebrating Earth Day, me and couple of friends went on to Green Festival @ Parkir Timur Senayan- Jakarta. It is a festival made to inspire people to love the planet that we're living in by doing practical things on our daily basis. We got into a tend, which consists of several different space representing our house: the frontyard, garage, living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. All of the displays explain in concrete way of how and why we should take action to prevent further damages caused by global warming. What if we know all those facts, yet still don't do anything? Well, the facts simply tell us that in 10 years from now the condition will get uglier and specific species will be extinct. So, don't blame the nature or the government or other sources if by 2030 our future grand children will not be able to breath fresh air or to drink proper water or to recognize animals such as shark and polar bear... It is a sad truth, but we still can do something. Make your action today. I have (reduce, reuse, recycle) and it would be great if you act, too.

Do simple things - Start from yourself - Inspire others
