Hooray | Shimmerz Paints February Color Kitz | Brandy Vaughn

Hello, friends! I'm excited to show you my newest layout using the February Color Kitz from Shimmerz Paints. Although this is a Valentine-themed kit, I easily adapted it for a birthday layout.

I began by cutting the star paper into four 4x6 pieces then used my scoring tool to score the pieces. I cut four 4x4 pieces of scrap cardstock to attach the scored and folded pieces to.

Once that was complete, I glued them to the center of the heart paper and began embellishing.

Finally, I added a mixed media shadow around the edges using Creameez 1 Hot Mama which comes in the Color Kitz. I'm super happy with how this layout turned out.
I hope you are inspired to create a non-Valentine-themed layout with your February Color Kitz.

Sweet Heart | Melissa Minor | February Color Kitz

Hi friends! Melissa Minor here on the blog today. I'm creating a Valentine scrapbook layout. The picture I'm scrapbooking is of my daughter Taitym & I. I'm so lucky to be her mom. I'm using the February Color Kitz.

I started my layout by pulling out all the paint sprays from the Color Kitz: Pretty in Pink-Coloringz, Gladiola-Vibez, and Cardinal Sin-Color Splash. I sprayed each of these colors onto some SBC Mixed Media 8.5x11 cardstock. After those paints were dry I splattered with the Silver Bells-Shimmerz from the Bonus Bundle. I pulled out a heart die and was able to die cut 7 hearts from the cardstock sheet.

I decided to turn one of the hearts into a shaker element. I cut a piece of acetate and a top cardstock layer for my heart. I used the Bonus Bundle sequins and sealed up the heart shaker. Next I placed the stickers that came right in the kit onto the hearts. I wanted them to look like candy conversational hearts. I think by using the sticker words they really do look like the candy hearts that you see around Valentine's Day.

One of my favorite items included in the Color Kits are the Epoxy Dotz. I placed the lip dotz in the upper right hand corner of the layer with some tangled thread behind it. I pulled out a few of the ephemera embellishments and placed around my photo. To complete my layout I used the same paints and splattered all around my layout. I have a full process video linked below. When you place an order on the Shimmerz Website be sure to add my name -Melissa Minor-to the notes section and Shimmerz will send you a free paint! Thanks so much for being here today friends! I'll see on the next layout. Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh Happy Day! | Melissa Minor | January Color Kitz

Hi friends! Melissa Minor here on the blog today. I'm sharing a layout I made using the gorgeous January Color Kitz.

I started my layout by cutting 3 strips of patterned paper from the kit. I cut 2 strips 2x10 and 1 strip 3x10. I then drew some pencil lines around the strips so I knew where to place my paint. I pulled 3 matching paint colors. For the red I choose Buddy's Favorite Color-Shimmerz. The center color is a pink called Pink About It-Inklingz. This is a brand new color! It's a really pretty shade of pink. For the green I used The Holly & The Ivy-Inklingz. My white background is a sheet of Mixed Media cardstock cut down to 11x11. I matted that onto the green tree pattern paper from the kit. I think the green really draws your eye to my photos.

The photos I'm scrapbooking are of my daughter putting her tree up. Each year she decorates her room for Christmas. She does it all herself. Her room looks like a winter wonderland. It's so cozy! Her tree skirt has snowmen on it. So, the snowman face ephemera piece was a perfect addition to the page. I also used a few of the tree puffy stickers and the tree die cut ephemera.
I used the tree epoxy dot that came in the kit, but also brought in an additional epoxy flair dot from my stash. Behind the epoxy dots I added a little tangled thread for some added interest. I chose an acrylic title from Color Cast Designs -Oh Happy Day!
Be sure to add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your order and Shimmerz will send you a free paint! I really appreciate those that use my name on your orders. You can shop here. I have a tutorial below and also a link to my unboxing video.

Happy crafting,

XMAS PJS Using the January Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all and happy New Year!  Today I'm sharing my first layout using the January Color Kitz Bundle!  I am documenting my daughter showing off her Christmas pjs.  The first thing that I did for this layout was make the background which I did in my unboxing video that you can find here: https://youtu.be/Y4IAyZaXNq4

I added the colors from the kit into sections like little paint swatches on my foundations paper.  Next I distressed and layered my picture on the page.  I then die cut 5 different colored patterned papers from the shop in heart shapes and added them with some foam to the page.

I then grabbed the dotz, stickers, and die cuts from the kit and added them making sure to match the colors as best as possible.  I added some rub-ons from my stash for the title and added some journaling at the top as well.  To finish off the layout I added some iridescent sequins from my stash to bring some bling.

Thanks so much for stopping in to read about my page.  You can find my process video for this layout here: https://youtu.be/GHYShNxpzlU

Merry Christmas Scrapbook Layout Using the December Color Kitz

Hey all, Nicole here with my second layout of December.  I am using the December Color Kitz Bundle which is all sold out in the shop!  You can still find the Color Kitz Paintz and the Bonus Bundle.  If you decide to grab either of those, or anything else from the shop, please use my name Nicole in the shopping cart to grab you a little freebie with you order!

To start this page I used tore some papers to go on my background.  I then painted around where my photos would go using the December Color Kitz paints.  After that was dry, I put together my background and popped up my photos on some dimensional foam tape.

I started my embellishing of this page with the die cuts from the bundle.  I added a cluster to the right of my page, the upper left of my photos, and the lower right of my photos.  Once all the die cuts were in place I added silver stars and acetate snowflakes to the page.  I finished with some sequins from my stash.

Thanks for popping on to read about my layout.  I hope that it gets you in the creative mood!  I also have a process video for you to watch here: https://youtu.be/6ouxhqNFU-E

Merry and Bright Using the December Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first project of the month using the new Decmeber Color Kitz Bundle!  If you like pink Christmas, this is the kit for you!

I started by making my background page.  I used a white foundations page then added all the colors from the kitz as brushstrokes down the top part of the page, adding splatters as well.  You can watch me make this page here: https://youtu.be/IO0qTzKJLdM

When my page was dry I started to build up the page with paper, ephemera, and little bits from the kit.  I started by adding torn strips of the floral pink paper to where the paints are and a small one down at the bottom of the page.  I then added my photos to the top part of the page with some dimensional foam tape.  I then added the acetate snowflakes up near the photos.  I added 3 clusters to my page, one near the top left of the photos, another near the lower right of the photos and the last one down at the bottom near the center of the page.

To finish this page I added my jornaling near the bottom cluster.  To add some more black around the page, I doodled some hearts around the clusters and added some dots as well.  The last thing that I added were the silver stars from the kit.

I also have a process video that you can watch for this layout as well here: https://youtu.be/H11sZXU-VIA

Autumn Rain Using the November Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my second project for the month using the November Color Kitz Bundle!  I'm documenting a rainy day in Prague with this fun kit.

The first thing that I did for this layout was to make my autumn rainbow.  I used all 5 paints from the kit to make my rainbow.  I didn't draw it out or anything fancy, I just free handed it with my paint brush and I love the way that it turned out.  I then painted some of the leaves from the coloring sheet that comes with the kit as well.

I distresed my photos and added them to the layout in three areas creating a visual triangle.  I then hand drew clouds on the blue and white checked paper, fussy cut them out, and then distressed them as well.  I added the clouds and leaves that I painted near the photos.  I then came in with some of the die cut pieces to finish off my clusters.

I then added my title using the gold alphas from the kit, making sure to glue each of the letters before putting them down.  I added journaling and splatters to finish off my layout.

Thanks for coming on to read about my layout.  I hope this inspires you to use your November Color Kitz.  If you decide to grab a November Color Kitz Bundle for yourself, don't forget to add my name Nicole in the shopping cart to get a freebie with your order!  I also have a process video for this layout that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/2_f3NDi3sKU

Fall Car Rides Using the Shimmerz November Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first layout of the month using the Shimmerz Color Kitz Bundle.  My scrapbook layout is full of beautiful red fall color!

The first thing that I did was choose this beautiful red and white polka dot paper, it is my favorite out of the kit!  I tore it about 3-4 inches from the bottom and marked on a foundations mixed media paper where it would fall with a pencil.  I then added the Red-y Or Not Coloringz from the kit to the bottom of the mixed media paper.

I decided to add the little strip of foliage to the top of this layout, where my photo would go.  I then embellished using the die cuts and dotz.  I finished by splattering with the Punkin Pie Vibez and Teal the End of Time Shimmerz paints.

My page came together pretty easily, especially with all the goodies in the kit!  I also have a process video for this layout that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/qVEKHnSq5qQ

Thanks for popping on to read about my layout using the November Color Kitz Bundle.

Spooky Halloween Scrapbook Layout | Melissa Minor | October Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm super excited to be sharing another layout with you for the Shimmerz Paintz design team. I'm using the October 2024 Color Kitz. I started the layout by painting some of the Dandy Lion-Creameez onto white mixed media cardstock. I then cut that piece down and used as a layering piece behind my photos.

I layered up some of the bright and fun patterned papers from the kit. To embellish my layout I brought in quite a few dies from my stash. For the title, I cut the word SPOOKY using a festive font. I then used some Vicki Boutin Thickers and finished my title with the word FUN. The thickers are white so I used some of the Celery-Shimmerz to paint in the letters. I love the shiny green this brought down to the bottom of the layout.

Next I cut some tags with various papers from the kit. I added some ribbon and twine to give my layout extra interest and dimension. I embellished with one of the dotz and several ephemera pieces from the kit. I love the little witch and Frankenstein pieces. The pictures I'm scrapbooking aren't actually from Halloween. My boyfriend Dale and I visited a really cool store in St Charles, MO that had Halloween decorations all over. We had to snap a few pictures. The store seemed to keep going and going. There were so many rooms, twists, and turns filled with all kinds of interesting items for sale.
When you place your next Shimmerz Paints order be sure to add my name (Melissa Minor) to the comments section so you can receive a free gift! This also lets Shimmerz know I referred you.

I have a link to my process video below. I've also included a link to my unboxing video. Leave me a pumpkin in the comments section of the video. We'll chat again next month.

Hello Gourdgeous using the October Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my second layout of the month.  This time I'm doing fall themed with the October Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting my gourdgeous daughter.

The first thing I did for this layout was coloring these leaves and foliage from the coloring sheet with the paints that come in the kit.  For the leaves I just used all the colors (except purple) and they turned out amazing!

I then did my paper piecing. I picked out some fall themed papers from the kit and arranged them on my page, making sure to distress the edges.  I also grabbed some leaves from the die cut pack included with the kit.

I arranged my fall foliage around my pic and a little cluster towards the bottom of the page.  I then added my title from my stash.  I decided to use the Sunkissed pant from the kit and add some shadowing under my clusters.  I then finished by splattering some Goldie Lox Shimmeringz from my stash.

Thanks so much for coming on here to read about my layout.  I hope it gets you in a painty mood.  I also have a process video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/3fxQ1zBJhv8

Aloha Using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all! Nicole here with another layout using the beautiful August Color Kitz Bundle!  Today I'm documenting a turtle that was swimming at the beach we were at in Hawaii.

The first thing that i did for this layout was to make the bright blue background.  I used the Love Ocean #9 and sprayed on a Foundations Mixed Media paper.  I then took the nozzle and splattered it around everywhere.

I cut out some of the waves from the patterned paper in the kit and also cut my pictures to look like waves.  I then distressed them all.  I also cut some of the white off of the die cut pieces from the kit as well.

I placed my pictures and little waves on my layout.  I then clustered some die cuts around it.  I also made a little cluster in the "sky" with the sun and a tag where I added my journaling.  I added some little doodles to my waves and in the "ocean" to give some interest and finished my layout with some sequins from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping in to read about my layout.  I also have process video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/c8cnITm3Uh8

Fabulous Las Vegas Using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first project using the Shimmerz August Color Kitz Bundle!  It is full of tropical vibes that I actually used for some Vegas pics.  I like how they go together to add a neon vibe to the page which Vegas is known for.

The first thing that I did was use the sheet that I made in my unboxing to die all the circles that I used on this layout.  Then I did paper piecing with some more mixed media behind where my photos go.

I added the circles to my layout making sure to distress them and then lift the edges to give them some dimension.  I then added my title with some alphas from my stash.

Next I added an orange dotz from the kit up by the orange circles and added some ephemera that matched my circles.

Finally I added some little sparkly stuff from my stash and journaled.

Thanks so much for stopping in to read about my layout.  You can also watch my process video here: https://youtu.be/cXPlJD0je5Q

Today is all about FUN - Using the July Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first project this month using the July Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting a picture of my youngest enjoying her birthday mochi.

The first thing I did for this layout was make these super cute flowers.  I painted a sheet of foundations paper with all the colors from this months kit.  For the pinks and yellows, I cut out 3 different sized circles to make one flower.  I folded the edges up and placed a chrome brad in the center of them.  Then I cut leaves from the green part of my paper and some white cardstock for the little white flowers.

Before I stuck down all my flowers and leaves to my page I made sure to splatter it with this months colors as well.

I then just glued all my flowers and leaves down with art glitter glue.  I started going through the die cuts that came with the kit and added a bunch through out the flowers.

I added a little banner piece to the top that says "Today is all about FUN" for my title and added my journaling to the bottom of the page and that't it!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read about my layout.  I hope it gives you some ideas on how to use your Shimmerz products.  You can find the Color Kitz Bundle here: https://www.shimmerzpaints.com/collections/shimmerz-paints-color-kitz/products/color-kitz-the-july-2024-complete-bundle-collection

XOXO | February Color Kitz | Brandy Vaughn

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We celebrated last weekend with a Valentine-themed birthday party for my grandaughter's 5th birthday! This was just the sweetest photo of her and her friend, and the February kit complements it perfectly!

I decided I wanted this one to be 8.5x11. I knew I wanted the black plaid paper to be a big part of the layout because I love it so much! So I cut out a piece that measures 8x4.5 and placed it prominently across the top of my white cardstock. I then added a pink strip that I cut into a fringe with my herb scissors. At this point, I decided to machine stitch down the center of the black stripes.

Then I painted this banner with Spritz - Happy Hour and Creameez - 1 Hot Mama

Next, I added some Coloringz - A Bright Fuschia to my page, then fussy cut the large X's and O's from one of the patterned papers to use as the title.

After adding my embellishments, I finished the page off with splatters and journaling.

I hope you enjoy this layout. You can check out my process video here:

Don't forget to add my name, BRANDY VAUGHN, to your next order and you will receive a free paint!
