Four drawings have arrived safely and on time in, no where other than,... the Big Apple! Laureus , Florestan , Rive Droite  - Rive Gauche and my  brand spanking new "Upright" have been crated and shipped across the waters to New York. They will be strutting their stuff at the Elisa Contemporary Art Gallery in Riverside New-York. Strength and Grace an Olympic Tribute opens on May 11th and runs through to August 12th 2012. The exhibit will feature Equestrian artwork by Ken Peloke - Arizona Mixed Media realist and Donna Bernstein - Expressionistic Idaho Artist, also featured are Carol Bennett - Swimmers of Hawaii Artist and Jeffrey Palladini -San Francisco Minimalist. Here he is: my champ, the chosen one. "Robert" pencil drawing, 91/2"x9", 2008 Copyright Sheona Hamilton-Grant This full frontal portrait of Robert ,the Scottish Greyhound, has been juried into the most excellent canine art show : Art Show at the Dog Show. He's been framed, in a great custom moulding and is looking very dandy. Today, his journey to America begins. He's being crated in a cosy, thick foam wooden-unbreakable under elephant weight- box . Tomorrow, he meets the Belgian customs, has his picture taken and is put on record as a temporary export . He will then be "delicately" placed into a muckle transport jet and fly across the seas... all the way to Kansas. Once on American soil, he will wave at the customs there who will take his picture and put him on records as a temporary export. After which, "Robert" will be finally exhibited at the 23rd Annual Art Show at the Dog Show . Yeah. This juried canine fine arts compet...

The fifth Canine Art Guild online exhibition is now live...! " Helping Paws 2008 " is now online! A wide and varied display of dog art can be viewed (and the best: all is for sale! Definately worth a visit!). Each and every artist entered has pledge to donate proceeds of their sales to a  shelter or charity of their choice. Well worth a visit. Here is one of my three entries " Close to Home " "Close to home" Mixed media (graphite/charcoal) on paper, 20x20 cm 200 Euros (20% donated to DCGR) This is the best place for any dog: out in the open, on a long lead, beside its loved ones (not only one pair of legs but two!) discovering new sights and sounds. This black lab is well surrounded and at peace with its life.  Through my art I would like to heighten the awareness of how these gorgeous, quiet and loyal canines are in dire need of a warm safe bed of a good home. The 3 incredibly important basics when exhibiting art.

Great week-end...just finishing catching up with everything! Thought I would highlight 3 important basics for exhibiting art before getting back to the drawing board.  These 3 points are SO easy to organise and SO crucial for any kind of success. Take good work clean and if possible framed Put a price tag on the work (this should include at least the  title, medium and price) Have printed business cards with all your contact information. You are now shaking your head in disbelief at me pointing out such obvious points. (Points that have been made over and over again I know!) You would be surprised... I came across 8 artists that were showing their work at the week-end without one of these basics....and to add to that they left their work unattended for the day... This is where I shake my head. Sunday was an eye opener... the irony of this lack of common sense is that people don't and can't show interest in the work displayed and that the artist then ends up taking it personally...
