Coronavirus Theater Or Epic Fail?

So the kids' schools will be closed tomorrow and Monday due to coronavirus planning.

However, to prevent the kids from panicking they decided to do a presentation to the Middle School kids about the coronavirus to allay their fears.

How did they do the presentation?

By packing them in grade by grade at a time, 150+ kids at a time, cheek by jowl, into one room, to listen to a presentation about the coronovirus.

Head desk.

Community spread, you're doing it wrong.

Luckily, there's still not a single person in that school or even area with diagnosed Coronovirus and still only one in thew whole county, and not near here.

Sheesh.

Not An Excuse, But As A Parent You Shoulda Anticipated This Situation

Parents do strange things with their kids sometimes.

Often it starts early with naming the poor tyke.

abc13.com: Southwest gate agent mocks 5-year-old girl's name, posts boarding pass on social media

Now, the gate attendant was wrong for doing this, but with a name like that, it was readily foreseeable.

The name in question?

Abcde

Yes, really.

It may be rather memorable and as easy as abcde to spell, but seriously.

Don't pick cutsie-dumb names for your kids that will follow them forever and open them to ridicule. Kids will have it tough enough without you setting them up for it from day 1.

Breaking Up A Fight - You're Doing It Wrong

Intervening in other people's fights is almost always a bad idea.

Dipping in when other people are arguing over money that has nothing to do with you is worse.

Doing so in a bar makes it much worse.

Doing so ending with a punch that kills someone makes it much worse.

The Detroit News: Police: Bar fight ends in man's death, criminal charges

Apparently Thing 1 Eric Hysell, approached Thing 2 Mark Thomas Foster claiming that Thing 2 owed him money.

Things apparently got heated quickly with some pushing most likely in a typical barroom Monkey Dance

So far so bad.

Then Thing 3 Andrew Werling intervened, apparently to break up the fight.

Breaking up a fight apparently has different meanings to different people:

In the tussle, Foster fell to the ground and Hysell was still standing when Werling punched Hysell in the head . . .

After being punched, Hysell hit his head on the patio door, or on the doorknob, and became unresponsive. He would never wake up again.

Yes, punches can be lethal, especially when the punchee hits a hard object on the way down, and subsequently dies.

Werling certainly didn't improve matters by intervening in a fight that was none of his business, and is now facing a manslaughter charge.

Physically interfering in other people's altercations rarely ends well and is just not a good idea in general.
