Sweet Baby Girls ...

I've been refashioning or upcycling or being thrifty (or all of the above) lately.

This is a men's dress shirt refashioned into a toddler dress.

You cant see in these pictures but I also made her some little matching panties/diaper cover from the sleeves of the shirt.

This sweet girl is a boon to my sewing ego.  Every time I show her something new I have made for her she immediately starts pulling off her clothes and putting on her new ones.

She is also learning lots of new words now (she'll be two next week) and thankfully "Gamma" is one of her favorite words!

And this one is a big kids tshirt refashioned into a toddler top.

So far this one's favorite two words are "doggie" and "cookie".  But she'll be saying "Gamma" before you know it (because this Gamma is working really hard on teaching her!)

Actually "cookie" might be her word for "Gamma" because every time she visits my office she reaches toward my desk drawer and says "cookie"!  (Yeah, this Gamma keeps a stash!)

Two Down, One to Go ...

I have the shorts done on the third set, and half the top cut out.  I have to go get more red fabric tomorrow.  I hope they still have some!!

Red, White, and Blue

Slacking on the blogging again, but not on the sewing.

Whipped up these two tops (one more to go) for the littles.

I got the shorts done after it was too late to take an outdoor pic.

Then I tried it on the littlest little.

Middle little will get hers this weekend.  And I still have to make one for big little (AKA Gabbie-Lou-Who).

My friend moved into a new home this past weekend so I whipped her up a quick gift.  She said she was going to decorate in colonial blues.  I'm not sure if these are colonial, but they are blue!

I forgot to take a picture before I mailed them; she sent me this picture of them on her new dining table as soon as she opened them.

Year End ....

2014 saw a lot of big events for the babies in our family.

Our first baby started Kindergarten this year.  She is doing wonderful and loving every minute of it.  Her speech is improving daily, and she's growing up so fast.

We added this sweet baby to our family this year ......

And she is already so grown up!

And this sweet girl found out she is going to be a big sister!  So we are really looking forward to 2015!

Getting them all to sit still for a pic on Christmas Eve was quite the chore.  And next year we will have another one to add in the mix.  Yay!  This has been a very good year for this Gamma!

Here's to 2015!

Three For Thursday ....

Well ok, I only have two of them done so far, but there will be three.

These are for the big Little and the middle Little.  I still have to do one for the bitty Little.

The pattern is Easy Peasant Dress by Tie Dye Diva.  It is truly easy.  (Seriously, I made both of these in one afternoon/evening).  Her patterns are great and soooo easy to follow.  I've been sewing for 30 years (ok, I took a 15 year hiatus) and I've learned several new techniques and tricks from her instructions.

I'm looking forward to making them some fall and Christmas dresses from this pattern.

Upon the recommendation of several other bloggers,
I bought these labels from IkaPrint.

And just for your viewing pleasure, here's a new pic of the bitty Little.

Edited to add a photo of my reluctant model:
(sometimes you have to be able to decipher in 30 seconds
or less if any alterations need to be made.)

After trying this on her though I think this may be my "go-to" pattern for lots and lots of dresses for the Littles.  (I already have some Fall and Christmas fabric for them)

Monday Update .......

Real clever title for this post huh?  I haven't blogged much lately.  I have been busy and have several finishes, but not much time for blogging.

First, my greatest accomplishment (well, ok, my daughter's accomplishment, but let's not split hairs ok?)

Miss Ivy Rose
7/29/14 - 4:50 pm
6 lb 10 oz - 19 inches

Gabbie-Lou-Who loves her.

She (and her parents) came to church with us today and afterward to lunch at my mom and dad's.  Gamma got lots of rocking time while her momma and daddy ate their lunch.

I've made matching dresses for Ivy and Sadie.
(This is Sadie's, I've already gifted Ivy's)

And my newest project   .... A whole herd of elephants!!
I am addicted to these creatures!!
(They are made from this pattern from Sweetbriar Sisters for Camelot Fabrics)

Back to school 2014 SALE in the Etsy Shop now!  Use coupon code SCHOOL14 to save 14% off your entire order (excluding shipping) through Aug 14, 2014.

And this sweet thing starts Kindergarten this week!!  We have orientation and meet the teacher this afternoon.  She is ready.  I think her PawPaw is not.  :-)

I'll have more updates on the school adventure next week!!
