Food, food, food!

Well Easter has been and gone.  Many eggs were eaten, especially by the littlest one.  That girl can sure eat fast!

The bunnies have been saved due to their cuteness.  I'm sure their looks won't be enough to save them for long.

Yesterday we made special gingerbread biscuits.  We found the most suitable shapes from my extensive collection of cookie cutters.  Can you guess that these were iced by me?

And these ones weren't?  He he!  I did enjoy myself.

I hardly left the kitchen all day.  Sushi for lunch.  Yum-my!

Later I decided to have a dig in the potato patch.  This is the entire crop.  Yep, impressive aren't they?!!  The biggest one is about the size of a golf ball.  Perhaps they didn't get enough of the wet stuff.  I'll try again later in the year.  I will not be beaten!

And after digging the potatoes out, I got a little carried away and ended up pulling quite a few beetroots as well.  Well there was only one thing for it really - bottling the jolly things. I've ended up with six large jars of them which is pretty good really.

Now I could hardly put one of those pretty little jammy skirts on my manly looking beets, so decided on something a little cheeky instead.  The fruity ladies have wrapped my beets with great style.

And tomorrow, or whenever I next blog, I have a new little top that I made today for show and tell.  Have a relaxing time until then.

Hot Cross Buns

Well if Floss can make them from scratch, then I can too.  Actually I've always wanted to give them a try but not being too keen to spend hours in the kitchen, I was always a bit put off.  Well no longer!  The bonus of making them myself is that I can leave out the raisins - No.2 can't eat them without getting really itchy.

The smell of the yeast and spices is so worth the effort of making hot cross buns.  I was making them on Good Friday but the yeast just wasn't playing ball.  So off to the shop today and on with the job.

The crosses were quite a bit of fun to make.  I used the flour and water in a zip-lock bag trick.  Cut off the corner and away I went.

A few sloshings of glaze later, and here we have some rather heavenly looking buns.

Homemade strawberry jam kept for a special occasion on top of homemade buns.  Just perfect.

I found my recipe here.  I would definitely make them again.  Even with 8 mins of kneading!  Unfortunately I can't eat them, but it did make me feel good making them for my family.

Happy Easter...

to all you wonderful people out there! I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend and are able to celebrate Easter with family or other special people in your lives.

We are heading over to my parents house tomorrow for dinner. Roast lamb, my absolute favourite, with lashings of mint jelly. Sorry dear little lambs, but I do love you in more ways than one.

Yesterday the girls were preparing for the big day by gathering up their special bunnies. They like to sit on the Easter table awaiting the yummy eggs that arrive during the night. Well apparently I've been a naughty Mummy and gave away a pile of toys and one important bunny as well! Oh dear. Well there's only one thing for it, make a new, even better one.

Don't you just love her crochet flower tail?

Well she passed the test and is now eagerly awaiting her first assignment.

This little egg cup was found in an op shop a few of months back.  Just perfect for Easter.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.  Maybe you are spending time with your loved ones?  Whatever you are doing have a Happy Easter.
With love Sarah xxx
