so mush love for the graduate!

hi there!
today I have this fun, special graduation card up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog

Holy Shitake Graduation Card by Samantha Mann for Newton's Nook Designs, Graduation Card, Die Cutting, Distress Inks, Distress Oxide Inks, Newton's Nook, Die Cutting, #newtonsnook #newtonsnookdesigns #distressinks #graduationcards #graduation #mushrooms #cardmaking #handmadecards

one of best friends' daughter graduated from high school (and also from college with an Associates Degree!!) and she LOVES mushrooms and purple! so that's what I used to make this card!

I stamped and colored the images from Fabulous Fungus Stamp Set, Succulent Garden Stamp Set, Newton's Graduation Stamp Set with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers! then once they were dry, I added some details with a white gel pen and then used the coordinating dies to die cut them all out!

for the background, I used white cardstock and die cut out using the Frames & Tags Die Set. then I used Distress Oxide Inks in Seedless Perserves, Chipped Sapphire and Milled Lavendar. I even popped up the frame portion with foam tape.

for the background of the large window, I used the Essential Alphabet Die Set and backed it with black cardstock so it would pop! as well as so it would match the small banner that I die cut from black cardstock with the A7 Frames & Banners Die Set and then heat embossed the sentiment!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #23 - Try a New Technique!

yahooo! it's time for a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!! what a fun way to push yourself to try something new!

I had so much fun creating my card for this challenge!! :)

eeeeek!! sooooo sweet, right?! I hope!!

I tried to create a Northern Lights background!! and it was also my first time using Distress Oxide Inks on black!

I started by using a paintbrush and some black gesso! so fun!!!

then I colored in the cute little image from Upon a Star that I colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then fussy cut out!

once the black gesso was dry, I tore a piece of typing paper and used it as a mask to create the 'northern lights'. I used a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks to swoosh along and the moved the mask down the black area.

Once that was done, I used the Snowy Backdrop die, die cut a piece of cardstock, and used the cardstock as a stencil with white embossing paste on the background! LOVE the texture it adds!

Lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment from Plane and Simple in white onto a banner of black cardstock!

oh, i really can't WAIT for you to play along! you could win a $25 gift certificate to Lawn Fawn!!!!

enjoy!
