A Hankering For . . . A Summer Hat

I sometime wish I was born back in an era when hats where fashionable.

Such a simple, handy item to use but it really made an outfit one's own.

Gone are the day's of Easter bonnets, and pretty bows set atop little hats with a clutch purse to match.

This image shows vintage suits for women. Schiap created pieces such as suits for the everyday woman. Schiap used her creativity to advance women through clothing and through the contribution of the feminist movement by giving women the opportunity to become socially equal with men along the lines of fashion.

Instead we have baseball caps and visors.

Useful yes - - -

You won't find me on the Lacrosse side lines without one during my daughters games - - -

Each time I pull my visor onto my head I can't help but wish for something a little more exciting and pretty to shade my eyes and ward off headaches from squinting behind my not quite dark enough sunglasses as I bake in the sun while balancing on my wobbling folding chair and yelling "Get It, Get It" to the girls on the field.

So I've been doing a little researching on Pinterest and I think I've found a few examples of the type of hat I would like to try out.

Nothing fancy, just simple and stylish to pair with a super casual look of cut-offs and a simple t-shirt.

Here's what I've come up with. . .

casually chic. jeans, white shirt, hat and heels.

Not at all sure if I'm stylish to pull off the look but I sure would love to give it a try.

How about you?

A Hankering For . . . A Parasol

With everyone so vigilant about wearing sunscreen these days I wonder why the parasol hasn't come back in fashion more!

Such a useful item it could be on hot summer days.

I see big umbrella's used at sporting events and on beaches but they are normally not as pretty as a parasol.

I love how this catches them striding along! the top of my dress is a little like the woman's on the right (but black!) Royal Ascot, June 1921

I for one would love to see a rise in their usage.

I think it would be fun.

A cute little sundress and a matching parasol would be perfect for so many occasions on sunny days.

There are so many options too. . .

Or mix a lacey number like the one below with cutoffs and a tanktop,  add a string of chunky beads around your neck and you'd be rocking a simple BoHo inspired look.

Of course you could dress it up like this too for parties or weddings.

I'm just saying,
parasol's could be a versatile accessory for summer that not only looks good but is functional too.

I may just have to start a fashion revolution and start using one wherever I go.

LOL!

Do you think it will catch on?

A Hankering For . . . A Summertime Wreath

I adore hanging beautiful wreaths on my front door all year long but summertime wreaths are my favorite.

With warmer days just around the corner I'm thinking it's time to craft a summertime wreath to spruce up the entryway.

But what type of wreath?

With so many different options I've had a hard time making up my mind.

I have narrowed it down to three different types:  boxwood, mixed floral, or Hydrangea.

Boxwood wreaths are a classic.  I think they are simple and beautiful.  It's hard to go wrong with something like this.

I love how simple this wreath is to make and its adorable!! So doing this for our front door!

The second option that I like is a floral wreath with lots of different types of roses and filler flowers.  I of course would make a silk rose version so it would last a long time.  Here's so examples that I love.

And last but not least the Hydrangea Wreath.

Ahhh, Hydrangea's are favorite of mine and they always make me happy just looking at them.  I'm thinking a wreath made of them will make me happy too!

If it were you having to make the choice which of the three types would you choose?

I still have some thinking to do!

A Hankering For . . . Stocking Up The Craft Bag

With the kids out of school in lest than four weeks and summer sports in full swing for us it's high time I get to stocking up my craft bag since I've already spent countless hours twiddling my thumbs waiting for practice to get over.

I've been using Pinterest for inspiration on small sized, easy projects I can add to my bag and I thought I would share some of the projects I'd like to try just in case your needing to stock up your craft bag too!

Embroidery is always something I enjoy to do and a few of these designs would be fun to make a project out of.

And then of course there is crocheting.
A proven side-line winner in my book.  Once you know your pattern it's easy to keep right on working while still watching whats happening on the field.

I've been waiting for some time to try these projects.

A Hankering For . . . New Lighting

I am in desperate need of a new light fixture to replace the brassy, glass covered eye sore that is currently hanging in my Dinning Room.

We've lived in this house of over twelve years and I've always thought it was ugly but now for some reason I can't stand it a second longer!

Ever have that happen to you?

So I've been busily looking for a replacement and would love to know what you all think of what I've found!

A Hankering For . . . Valentine's Day Cuteness

Every year I promise myself I'll get all crafty and make some fabulous decorations for Valentine's Day.

Yet it never happens. . .

Instead, I dig out my tired old decorations from years past the day before Valentines Day and just throw them up somewhere in the house without a lot of thought.

Oh sure I have a couple day's until the big day, but who are we kidding!  My poor glue gun won't see the light of day.

But if I were to get a little crafty, I'd like to make some of these . . .
