THREE WORD WEDNESDAY
'indecision, option, fate'
TRICK OR TREAT
I've filled-in the form, but not sent it off.
All it needs is the final click.
Is it a chance of an income
Or is it a nasty trick?
The indecision is killing me!
The Internet is so scary,
So full of sneaky criminals,
Setting traps for the unwary!
I've taken the sensible option,
Checking out on BBB.
But maybe that's a scam as well!
Oh insecurity!
I want to be mistress of my fate!
I want to be calm and strong.
I want to know all the ins and outs!
I want to know right from wrong!
But journalists invade phone-calls,
Thieves steal identities
'Snake-oil' salesmen are out there
In all our societies.
So, like a wimp, I'll cancel,
I'll click-off the fatal page!
Oh to be a startling vivid red
Instead of this sickly beige!

DYING EMBER
The sun is not yet burnished
With the colours of decline.
Sunset is some time away;
Leaway is left for shine.
And yet the power is fading,
As it sinks down in the west
Shadow turns to darkness,
Night thoughts turn to rest.
A flare of silvery clouds reflects
The hidden sun's array.
Another day 'going up in smoke'!
The end of another day.

Oh, how true is that safety issue on the internet! Love the last two lines!
Definitely empathise with the indecisiveness caused when confronted by things that look like they might be a scam (or otherwise too good to be true?) I'd like to be mistress of my fate too!
love both poems great descriptions in both.
I know what you mean about the Internet. I also liked your piece on Poetic Asides today!
Another two great posts. Trick or Treat is a good reminder to avoid anything that flashes and/or 'jiggles' enticingly on the screen. I have been the 999,999th. something or other many times. I never even click the 'cancel' button, that can be dangerous too.
That first one is so easily related to! I know of the temptation as well as the trepidation!
This is so true. I loved both poems. Well done!
I wish there was a way to make the internet even safer. Enjoyed reading your work :)
