A Cat and a Creeper

In our home I can not tell if it is the toys (creepers in this case) or the Cat's keep the attention of the kids more then the other.  Jared who received this pillow for Christmas is a fan of Creeper's for those that dont know what a Creeper is it is a monster from a game called Mine Craft it is one my son likes a lot.  He even Dressed up as one for Halloween and mom made him a costume of it.

Here he is just after he opened his present Christmas Morning.

Here is a closeup of it on the couch.  This pillow was not washed yet (mom was afraid he would see it before Christmas) it will get a washing soon enough as Jared seems to get things dirty fast like most boys do.

Tanya for Christmas made many of the neices and nephews pillows for Christmas as the weeks go on I will try to make sure each of them get a posting.

Perry Rag Quilt

Tanya found some cute Perry material while visiting the LQS and she just had to make her self a Perry Rag Quilt.  Me I am not so much a fan of Perry but my kids do love it and it looks like Tanya is kind of Pro Perry also.

She used some cute Turquoise and Gray Minkey along with the Perry Material (which is cotton)

I really do enjoy the gray and turquoise though as they blend together well.

Valentines at last!

I know you are saying, "Its Christmas Eve not Valentines?" But hey you know me I am a little different (ok maybe a lot different)  But it is not Christmas Eve its Valentines or at least it is for my Beautiful wife because yes it is finally finished.

My wife has been giving me some serious flack for not finishing things and or quilting at all.  So while working on my son's quilt for Christmas I finished finally quilting her valentines day present for last year.  So Valentines day is in February its now December, see I am hardly behind.

I had fun quilting this though its hard to see what I did.  I echo quilted out the heart both inside and out.  Then I square quilted the rest of the quilt (well echo quilted the squares with exception of those that I echoed around).

Here is a close up of the left over junk I tossed onto the back.  As a want to be modern quilter the back is as important to make a statement as the front.

Here is a close up of the top front so you can see what I was talking about on quilting.  Now what holiday should I do next?  I am still not ready for Christmas.

Rag Quilt Time Again

Over the long Thanksgiving weekend Richard made a comment that I hadn't made a rag quilt for quite some time, so I made three.  The first had two fabrics, but seemed somewhat boring, so I had to add something to it.  I hit a Black Friday sale for a few pieces of flannel to complete some rag quilts.  I was very reserved and only came out with 2 yards of a few prints and 6-8 yards of a couple of solids.  Much better than my 12+ bolts last year.  Here is the first. I had the  dots and pink already but not quite enough to make a quilt.

I added the butterfly print to the mix.

The quilt has been added to Etsy store.  Richard is busy working on a quilt for our oldest James.  It is a twin size, hopefully it will be done for Christmas.

Second Chevron Quilt

Here is the second  chevron quilt.  It is out of Ticklish by Me and My Sisters.  One of the things I like is scrappy styled quilts.  It can be the 2 1/2 inch random blocks or as this quilt is random colors to make a chevron pattern.

I love the modern concept but, don't pull it off well most of the time.  One thing I really like to look for and often am disappointed in quilts is the back.  I like to see how people tie it into the front.  For the backs of my Chevron quilts I wanted to have a single chevron off at a angle and I just love how it turned out.  This quilt is based off our chevron quilt pattern you can find it on either our etsy store or our craftsy store.

New Quilt and Pattern on Craftsy

Today I would like to share my newest quilt and pattern.  It is a Chevron Baby Quilt that measures 40 inch x 40 inch.  It is out of a fabric line called Bungle Jungle.  Three weeks or so Tanya and I decided we wanted to create 3 new patterns for our Craftsy Pattern Store. Tanya wanted them to be HST Quilts.  This is the first of the 3.  But like all projects we start we cant be simple.  We are making 3 patterns x 3 quilts each.  So will in the end have 9 quilts.  All fabric is cut out and they are in various stages of delivery.  This is the first.

Like all of my patterns of Craftsy if you go visit Craftsy and either on one of my projects or one of my patterns make a nice comment about them and then come back here and let me know you did so I will email you for free the pattern.  There is a link at the top of my blog to the Craftsy store where you can see the pattern.

Baby Bricks Quilt

This was a custom quilt that was just finished up.  We ended up buying the whole fat quarter bundle of Reunion  by Sweetwater. This is one of Richard's favorite lines.  I don't know why we end up with customer orders on fabric that are 1 to 2 years old.  Good thing there is the Internet and we were able to locate it.

It measured 40 by 50 inches and is now on its way.  We did this quilt with a scrappy feel.  The pattern for this quilt is one designed by us and for sell on Craftsy.  You can follow the patterns link on top of the blog to find pattern. Richard and Tanya Quilts Patterns on Craftsy

Another Custom Rag Quilt

A customer wanted a lavender, purple, and green rag quilt with elephants.  This quilt was done by Tanya, Richard is busy working on another custom baby quilt.

This cute rag quilt is 40 by 50.  It has a dark purple minky on the back.

The front has two minky fabrics. The dark purple and a lavender with a rose pattern.   The rose minky is super cute, but sheds tons.  It has three cotton fabrics.

I used my embroidery machine to applique the elephants on 8 squares. The design wasn't designed for applique so I ended up doing some close trimming after it was sewn. I can see a few more baby quilts with elephants in the future.  I think this is one of the cutest rag quilts so far.  Just in case you are wondering, the flannel isn't gone, I've just been busy with other projects like laundry and other fun cleaning projects.

Batik Quilt Done at Last

I have at last got my Twin Size Batik quilt done (ok, it was done 2 weeks ago), but I made this top almost a year ago.  Because of the size it sat for a long time without a back and then when that was done.  It again sat for a long time as Tanya worked up her desire to baste it.  Above it is pictured on my sons Bunk Bed.

Trying out the new quilt rack that was found at thrift store.  This quilt is made with dark and light grey batik material and then 10 inch blocks at a diagonal of random batik fabrics out of 2 1/2 inch squares.

A close up of  one of the square blocks.  Each of blocks is quilted in the square design.  It took a long time to quilt them as I quilted down each side, spiraling in and I underestimated the effort of turning the quilt in circles.

It cover the top of a queen size bed.

The back is a combination of the light and dark batiks.

Ghastlies

This quilt was finished a while back.  We just never got pictures and a post done.

Here is a close up of one of the blocks.

It is a difficult quilt to get pictures of.   Each of the wonky blocks has slightly different quilting.

It has been added to our etsy store. We also working on finishing some table runners and wall hangings out of Ghastlies.  We haven't decided if the one we our keeping will go on wall or table, decisions?

It has two stars and the word baby embroidered on it.

Rag Quilt #11

This is made of three flannels, blue tie dye and green and blue heart prints.  The back is the blue flannel, the batting is a third layer of flannel in green.

I also added three raw edge appliqued hearts.  It is a cute heart print quilt, with out being pink.

Baby Shower Gift

This is a quilt made for a baby shower gift for church.  The front is made of charms in lavender and black prints.  I used leftover prints from the custom charm square quilt last month. The back is lavender minky.

It is the gift from the church.  It the first one I have made, the other new moms have wanted freezer meals.  I am really hoping she likes it.  She is not real traditional.

I made the top and Richard was nice enough to quilt it for me.  They wanted to have the top so that we could tie it, but I am not really into tying quilts so much anymore especially with a pieced top.. I like the machine quilted look.  Am I the only one that has ever not wanted a quilt tied after piecing the top?

Rag Quilt # 10 and winner.

This quilt is technically not from the flannel stash that Richard cut up, but wasn't purchased for this specific quilt.   The flannel is leftover from the twin sized custom owl rag quilt and the minky from the rainbow quilt completed earlier this week.

I had the quilt on the chair, but Julia decided I should take a picture of her instead, as she threw the quilt off.

I ended up taking her back in the house, so I could finish taking pictures.  Julia really likes this quilt, she seems to like pink.  She tries to claim any pink quilt.

I guess she didn't see me take the pictures on her crib or she would have been mad.

Now the exciting part. The winner of LAFF for August is Tanya of Tanya Quilts  in Co http://tanyaquiltsinco.blogspot.com/2013/08/end-of-summer-finish.html.  She has been emailed.

Bright and Cheery Color Blast Quilt

One of my favorite patterns I have made is my color blast quilt.  The first quilt I made out of this pattern was orange and Tanya hated it.  I then made a blue batik quilt which I love and then a few tops that have not yet been finished.  Well a few months ago, when I came home from work Tanya was making this version of it.  She hated my version and I have to admit she has topped it, but she can't seem to get my name correct.  She always refers to the pattern as color burst rather then color blast.  Its kinda funny.  I guess if she wants to burst rather then blast I will let her.

I loved her choice of binding and really love the corner stones she used (the wavy lines) it gave it a neat twist.

She of course made me quilt it and as normal she wanted to torture me and had pink minky on the back.  About 2/3 quilted, I realized we had a pucker in the back and sadly she had to pull out almost 2 full rows of quilting and re-pin it to fix our pucker.  I love the finished look of minky, I hate quilting it.

This quilt was completely made of scraps from our stash and will end up on our the etsy store.
