The Nigerian Islamic militant group Boko Haram says it bombed U.N. offices in Abuja last week because the world body is a partner "in the oppression of believers," a spokesman for the group said Wednesday.
Friday's car bombing killed 23 people and wounded more than 80. Boko Haram, which aims to impose a strict version of Islamic law in Nigeria, claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a brief telephone interview arranged by an intermediary, Boko Haram spokesman Abul Qaqa said a 27-year-old Nigerian named Mohammed Abul Barra drove the explosives-packed Honda Accord into the U.N. building.
"All over the world, the U.N. is a global partner in the oppression of believers," Qaqa said. "We are at war against infidels. In Nigeria, the federal government tries to perpetuate the agenda of the United Nations."

North Korea says to strike South if drill goes ahead
The North had said its November shelling was a response to South Korean "provocations."
South Korea should just stop all its provocations of the North, That way there wont be Any problem!(sarc off)

North Korea said on Friday it would strike again at the South if a live-firing drill planned by Seoul on a disputed island went ahead, with an even stronger response than last month's shelling that killed four people.
The announcement on North Korean official news agency KCNA came as South Korea readied for live-firing drills on Yeonpyeong island near a disputed maritime border with the North for the first time since November's exchange of artillery fire.
The South Korean drills will take place between December 18-21.
"The strike will play out a more serious situation than on November 23 in terms of strength and scope of the strike," KCNA said.
The North had said its November shelling was a response to South Korean "provocations."

KURRAM AGENCY: A remote-controlled bomb exploded near a vehicle allegedly belonging to militants in central Kurram on Thursday, killing six militants, including a top militant commander.
Sources said that six militants were killed in the explosion, including top militant commander Hakim Khan.
A number of militants have also been injured in the explosion and most of them are said to be in critical condition.
A military operation has been underway in central Kurram against militants for the past 10 months in which a number of militants training centres and camps have been destroyed.

TEHRAN, Iran — A blast killed nine people attending a military parade in the northwestern Iranian city of Mahabad on Wednesday, an official said.
"Counter-revolutionary groups, by inserting themselves among the people attending the armed forces parade, showed their heinous faith," Vahid Jalalzadeh, the provincial governor of Iran's West Azerbaijan province, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency. He blamed Kurdish separatists for the attack.

CAIRO — The man who pleaded guilty to carrying out the attempted Times Square car bombing vowed in a video recorded before the failed attack that he would strike the U.S. to avenge the deaths of Muslims killed by American forces.
The Dubai-based television station Al-Arabiya broadcast excerpts Wednesday of a 40-minute video featuring Faisal Shahzad that it said was released by the Pakistani Taliban. The station did not say how it got hold of the video.
In excerpts aired on Al-Arabiya, Shahzad is sitting on the ground in a black turban and military fatigues, with a gun next to him as he recites verses from the Quran.
He says he will carry out a "revenge attack" against the U.S. to avenge the deaths of Muslims killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan by the U.S., and that he hopes his actions will touch the hearts of Muslims.
Al-Arabiya said the full tape shows Shahzad meeting with a prominent Pakistani Taliban figure, Faqir Mohammed, the deputy leader of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, along the Afghan border.
Shahzad was arrested days after the failed May 1 bombing in Times Square.

Female homicide bombers are being fitted with exploding breast implants which are almost impossible to detect, British spies have reportedly discovered.
The shocking new Al Qaeda tactic involves radical doctors inserting the explosives in women's breasts during plastic surgery — making them "virtually impossible to detect by the usual airport scanning machines."
It is believed the doctors have been trained at some of Britain's leading teaching hospitals before returning to their own countries to perform the surgical procedures.
MI5 has also discovered that extremists are inserting the explosives into the buttocks of some male bombers.

"Women suicide bombers recruited by Al Qaeda are known to have had the explosives inserted in their breasts under techniques similar to breast enhancing surgery," Terrorist expert Joseph Farah claims.
