Another weekend is gone. :(

Back in school again today, since I have no lessons on Mondays. Actually, I pretty much look forward to varsity life more than I ever did towards my life in JC. Having a more relaxed form of school curriculum and life, giving myself more freedom, meeting nicer people, allowing myself to grow and mature at this phase of young adulthood etc etc. I'm learning to enjoy varsity life right now, though I've got to admit that varsity life ain't as easy as the sec school and JC teachers put it to be, it's not exactly true! Anyhow, this is gonna be my last years in school and I'll be working all my life after that. Nothing beats having yourself revolving around school, really. You get knowledge and skills pumped into your brains, have fun and fool around in school with your friends. Isn't this better than slogging your life at work, getting yourself embroiled in office politics and such in the real world? Alright, enough of my preaching. But yup, my bottom line to you guys out there is to enjoy your school life!

Anyway, I've only managed to read up a lil' on my coursepack and readings for jap studies and that's it. Nothing else done for my other modules. No idea what I've been up to over the weekend. Seriously need to make myself work and snap out of this holiday mood, with all the assignments and projects for almost every module streaming in. Wake me up somebody! Had my 1st jap studies tutorial today. It turned out to be better than what I expected, feeling pretty satisfied with my class. Formed project groups within the class today, and I'm glad my project mates are a bunch of rather nice and down-to-earth people. Hopefully my SS tutorial will be fine tmr and that I'll have a nice group for my SS project. Oh and I was thinking of joining either NUS Wind Symphony or NUS Piano Ensemble, should I or should I not? But I feel like engaging in some sports/societies too, other than band-related activities. Or should I just stay cca-less, a bit lifeless eh. How?!?

Finally caught Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday, when practically everyone has watched it already. The story-line was a tad different and darker as compared to the book. I'd prefer reading the book, cos the visual effects brought out by the movie wasn't that nice and impactful as put across by the book. But then again, the movie was not that bad. I enjoyed the lil songs and dances put up by the puny oompa loompas, rather cute and hilarious haha. Too bad Johnny Depp didn't look as good in the movie as he is in reality hah.

Before I go, here's something for you, Esther. Happy 19th Birthday in advance! :)

Sian.

Haven't been blogging on a regular basis lately. Feeling rather lazy to blog and yeah, there's nothing much for me to blog bout' either. Woke up early today to register for my tutorials online, hopefully I'll be able to get the tutorial slots that I want. The slots are gonna be allocated via balloting, ugh. If only NUS can scrape this whole system of bidding and balloting. And right now, the stupid CORS system is taking a freaking long time to log me in. Bet everyone's rushing in to register for their tutorials now, making the system so overwhelmed by the number of users online. So irritating, I'm still waiting for the CORS page to load. It's super duper slow! Grrrrrrrr.

School has been pretty alright, been attending lectures for the past week. I'm glad that I survived through all my 5 lectures of 2 hours each in a week, without feeling very bored and dozing off. Tutorials are starting next week and I haven't touched my tutorials at all. I have a whole lot of readings to do as well, esp for sociology and jap studies, sigh. And I've yet to purchase my sociology and SS textbooks. I'm just feeling too lazy to join the long queue since there's always a beeline of people queuing up at the textbooks purchase counter at the co-op bookstore. Plus I've got 2 fieldtrips to attend for geog and SS too. So many things to do and settle, sigh. And this is just the beginning of varsity life. I hope I'll survive, and please get me to get started on my tutorials and readings!

Alright, just a short blog update here. Not exactly in the mood to blog, esp with the stupid CORS system. Yes I'm still not able to log in after like 3 hours, and I seriously need to register for my tutorials by 2pm today. Cos I still have to get to school by 4pm for my sociology lecture later and I have make-up lecture for SS till 8pm later due to the national day holiday last week, when the registration for tutorials end at 5pm. Seems like many people aren't able to log in too, even Cheryl can't log in using her comp in her hostel room. It's getting on my nerves right now, arghhhhhhh! HELP.

1st Week @ NUS

The past week ended rather hastily. Spent the bulk of my week in NUS attending matriculation, subject talks and orientation. Saw many familiar faces from cchsm and mjc in FASS too, so nice to see all the people from cchsm especially haha. Was so shagged from waking up so early to get to NUS, staying there for long hours and then getting home only in the evenings. And there are so many flights of stairs to climb in NUS, so tiring! Was absolutely physically and mentally drained of energy last week man.

Anyway, O Week (orientation) started last thursday and will supposedly end on this thursday. Went for the 1st day of O week and thank god me and Siling ended up in the same OG. Made a few nice friends from my OG, and I shall not wax lyrical bout some of the other people in my OG heh. But well, orientation was pretty boring on the 1st day. The typical ice-breakers, cheering (but i must say that the arts cheers are rather innovative though), games and mass dance (which me and Siling skipped, hah). And we gave some dumb excuses to our OGL so as to skip friday and saturday's activities. Perhaps I've long outgrown the age of having orientations and trying to be enthusiastic in having all the fun. Supposed to be doing Flag Day today, but we skipped it. Been receiving quite a bit of smses and calls from unknown numbers (i'm very sure they're from my OGLs) everyday bout the following days of activities and telling us to confirm attendance with them. Felt pretty guilty for not replying them to confirm our attendance. But well, me and Siling decided to forfeit our 15bucks paid for O week and skip this whole week of activities. At least we're not alone in this, I do know of quite a few people who are like us too, our partners-in-crime in skipping orientation hah.

Went hostel-visiting at NTU last friday, since I skipped orientation hah. There are so many slopes in NTU, just as similar to the many flights of stairs in NUS, so tiring too hah. After visiting Kriz and Steph's rooms in NTU, as well as Cheryl's room in NUS, seeing how hostel life is like, kind of makes me wanna stay in hostel and have a taste of hall life too. It's nice having your own cosy lil' living space and learning to be more independent. Plus the journey to and fro to NUS takes bout 3 hours long, I can just rot and sleep on the train/bus. But then again, my home's the best! With everything being taken care of, what's there to gripe over my decision of not staying in hostel, right? Hah. Oh and cos of my trip down to NTU, I gave our clarinet section gathering (cchsm) a miss, felt really guilty. My apologies to Amy and Edmund, I'm so sorry bout it!

I've been visiting NUS's IVLE and also NUS's websites very regularly these days to check my email and the various lectures time slots listing for my modules. How boring. I seriously don't like the bidding system in NUS. Have to waste my points to place high bids in order to outbid others for the more popular modules and it's also a waste of time trying to monitor the open bidding period on and off, as though watching the stock market. I just placed my bids for my SS module and also an econs module which is only left with the unpopular lecture slot on friday. Decided to take my GEMS next semester and take up econs as another exposure module of mine this semester instead. Most of the SS and GEMS modules that I wanna take either clash with my exposure modules' exams or lecture time slots, grrrr. Hope it's a wise choice and nothing goes wrong in this round of bidding so I can stop bidding in the next few rounds. Looks like I've got to have a 4-days week for my timetable, I want a 3-days week!!! Ugh. Screw the bidding system!

Lectures are officially starting next week, need to mentally prepare myself for it since I'm still in the holiday mood now hah. So glad Siling's in my socio's lecture class and Yun Han's in my geog's lecture class, yaaay. I hope I find some familiar people in the lecture classes for my other modules, sigh. And my sis's going for some adventure camp tmr and will only be back on friday. One less person to chat/squabble/entertain me at home for the next 2 days, so sad. Anyhow, I'd better enjoy my last week of freedom for now. :(
