Peat Pots! Nests! Freebies!

Hello Friends!

Flowers are blooming, birds are singing...
Yes, it's Spring!!
Actually there have been some days here lately when it's been more like Summer!
I'm not complaining...but okay, I am a little.
I am not ready yet to start wearing summer clothes!

I have been busy this Spring, creating and swapping.
I created this peat pot for a swap I was in
at Vintage Dragonfly.

My partner was Mercedes, who makes such beautiful and feminine things,
and I wanted to make something I knew she would love,
using beautiful lace, vintage flowers and a vintage rhinestone button.

And, as the fates would have it,
we were on the same wavelength,
as Mercedes also had the idea to make a bird topiary!
I love the soft colors, vintagey materials,
and the adorable little felt birdie which she created from felt and vintage fabric:

Thank you Mercedes, I love it!

I joined a card and tag swap at
Wendy's Blissful Arts group,
and the theme was "Spring Nest".
This litttle fairy image is one of my faves,
and when I saw this Nest and Eggs graphic,
I knew what I wanted to do with it:
I stitched it onto a fabric piece and onto the card, with a few vintage flowers, lace and moss.

This nest is made with some fine kraft paper shred
which came in a gift basket I received long ago...attached to a
branch cut from a die that I've had for years
and I think this is the first timeI've used it, lol:

I like the fresh look this touch of moss lends to them:

They went to my partner Kimberly, whose work I love also.

In return Kimberly sent me these lovely cards and goodies:
Very sweet and Spring-y!
Thank you, Kimberly!

Here's some Spring Birdie freebies for you:

Bridal Shower! March Card and Tag Swap!

Hello Friends!
The themes for the Swap for All Seasons swap in March
were Spring and yellow.

I don't use yellow much in my crafting, but I love this image
that has just a splash of yellow.
I love the spring-y background and her wistful look.
I wanted to keep the card simple
and let the lovely lady be the star.
A bit of vintage lace and vintage millinery flowers:

And my tag:

They say April showers bring May flowers...

I was hoping the showers would wait until my shower was held...
I hosted a bridal shower at my home
for my daughter's lovely sister-in-law last week.
The sun was in and out but no rain!
The décor was organic, garden-y,
with a bit of herbs, yellow, burlap and chalkboard.  :)
Her sister and sister-in-law were the real hostesses,
I  did the décor
with a little help from the bubble girls
(flower girls who blow bubbles).

Nine year old Ainsley made the favors herself,
homemade bath salts (below).
Don't they look great?

I love how these champagne glasses look
lined up on the burlap ribbon:

One of the hostesses made these lovely little tags
with a different herb for each one
and the trait that the herb stands for (above).

The caterer made a beautiful table of delicious food:

I had fun making this photo op
with a French garden shop look :)

OK.  Now I'm ready for April showers!
We dearly need them in Southern California.

Some sunny freebies for you:

Le Poisson d'Avril! Happy April Fool's Day!

Bonjour mes amies!

Ah, the French...who knows why they are the way they are...
Who knows why they what they do...
Who knows what thought processes went into
celebrating the first of April
with a FISH!
Le poisson d'Avril!

Well it is 2014 and we never have to wonder for very long,
thank you Wikipedia:
"In France, Belgium, and French-speaking areas of Switzerland and Canada, April 1 tradition is often known as "April fish" (poisson d'avril in French). This includes attempting to attach a paper fish to the victim's back without being noticed.
Such fish feature prominently on many
late 19th- to early 20th-century French April Fools' Day postcards."

OK, well there you are...
Watch out for paper fish, and
enjoy good luck all month long!

And Happy April Fool's Day!!

It's April! Fairy Jar! Freebies!

 Hello Friends!

It's April!

Yes!
And my across-the-street neighbor's front yard looks like this:

Flowers everywhere!
Even window shopping at the mall:

Yes, I have been doing a little creating as well as window shopping.  :)

Spring is peak season for fairies, as they are out and about in the garden.
I have always wanted to capture one and keep her forever in a jar.
But that wouldn't be nice.
So I made this little fairy in a jar to keep me company:

I used a mix of mosses, papery flowers, mushrooms, butterfly wings
and a Dresden pink crown.  And lots of fairy dust!
I covered the jar lid with some burlap trim to keep the woodsy look.
Added more moss and a nest and little birdie on top.

Here are a few freebies with an April Showers theme:

Urban Barn Flea Market!

Hello Friends!

I just have a little bit of catching up to do here,
and then it's on to some lovely pictures
of the Urban Barn's monthly flea market.

Is it too late to post pics of my egg-shaped
Marie Antoinette ATCs?
Oh, good!

This one has a little "jardiniere/gardener" theme going on:

And here is Marie in a teacup!

This egg shape was so much fun to work with.
And Marie is always fun to play with!

The Urban Barn has a monthly flea market
that we have been meaning to get to for ages.
We finally made it to the March market,
and were so glad we did!

They even have little treats for you to eat!
Everything was so beautifully displayed,
inside, outside in back, and outside in front,
like these jumbles of lovely things
from Laura of Chaotic Soul Jewelry.

Yes, we left with less money,
but with an armload of lovely things!

Some spring-y freebies for you:

You may like to stop by Pink Saturday for more pink lovelies!
