( Best Wishes  )

Date of Issue : 4 February 2021

Here is a beautiful stamp issued on 4th Feb 2021 by Estonia Post for Valentine's Day. Red roses are depicted in the Valentine’s Day stamp design, which refers to sending letters as a traditional way to remember our loved ones. In addition to the flowers, the writing on the stamp says “Parimad soovid!” /Best wishes/.

This beautiful  the stamp can also be used for other celebrations, to surprise your friends or family with a letter or a postcard. There are several such days a year in addition to Valentine’s Day (14 February): Mothers’ Day (9 May), Grandparents’ Day (12 September) and Fathers’ Day (14 November), but the stamp is also ideal for any other greeting card.

The Love We Deserve....

Date of Issue : 6 February 2020

Here are four beautiful stamps issued by PHL Post for this year's Valentine's day featuring universality of Love.

PHLPost promotes universal love with new heart shaped Valentine’s Day Stamps

MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) releases stamps featuring the digital art rendition of “Valentine’s Day 2020 – The Love We Deserve” special stamps using the popular character of the human heart that signify emotions, including love.

We see the familiar symbol of love everywhere — from eating heart-shaped chocolates to sending text messages to a special someone with the iconic heart of the popular “emoji” or symbols.

Entitled “The Love We Deserve”, the four heart-shaped designs show the values important to contemporary society, focusing on current issues.

It presents the idea that love transcends romance, taking on the many other definitions of love with an open mindset.

Each of the four topics represents a creed: Love Nature, Love for Country, Love Knows No Gender, and Love Yourself. This issue deviates from the usual way Valentine’s Day stamps are depicted and is intended to touch on subjects the public – especially the youth – can both relate to and reflect on.

The four heart-shaped stamp designs such as the environment themed “Love Nature” takes on the color green, with a background of a tree that symbolizes life; the nationalistic themed “Love of Country” where the color and design of the Philippine flag and map are reflected in the background while little doves fly around to symbolize peace and love; the “Love Knows No Gender” stamp theme indicates that Love has no sexuality, race, skin tone, color or gender and lastly; the stamp giving emphasis on “Loving Yourself”, inspiring people to have self-respect, a positive self-image, and unconditional self-acceptance.

The magenta/purple inspired color illustrates a person holding one’s head high.

Considered as one of the most awaited Philatelic releases, this year’s Valentine’s Day stamps were designed by PHLPost in-house graphic artist Irma Jane Junio, deviating from the usual romance theme but focused more on the universality of love.

Special Valentine's Day stamps from Finland

Date of Issue : 23 January 2019

The designs of this year's special Valentine's Day stamps from Finland   feature Valentine’s Day, the baby box and pastimes on freezing cold Finnish winter days.
This sympathetic booklet of stamps has a strong craftwork feel. Pikkujämsä, who is starting his career as a stamp artist, painted the original paintings on paper, wrote the texts by hand and did the perforation freehand.
“When I was creating the stamps, I thought about a dear friend of mine in the north. Doing things together with friends was the starting point for these stamps. I try to make simple paintings that touch people and warm their hearts,” said Pikkujämsä.
The baby box is an innovation that is familiar to all Finnish families. The Baby Box miniature sheet, designed by Dog Design, presents the clothes and care supplies in the box and the box itself, in which a baby can also sleep.
“We illustrated the baby box products on the miniature sheet as a pattern-like surface that is bordered into ensembles by stamps. And a baby is naturally also included,” said AD Petri Salmela from Dog Design.
The Freezing Winter Day stamps feature typical Finnish winter day activities, such as ice fishing and taking a dip in a hole in the ice.
“In the picture of the first stamp, a father and daughter are spending a sunny day ice fishing. The second stamp features an ice swimmer taking a dip in a hole in the ice. You can see how freezing the water is on the face of the swimmer,” said the designer of the stamps AD Paula Salviander.
The ice fishing photo in the stamp portrays her own family and was taken by Jaana Vetikko, who is also the spokesperson for the Finnish Federation for Recreational Fishing. The photo of the swimmer taking a dip in a hole in the ice comes from the Can Stock Photo.

Greeting card - gregorjevo

Valentine's (and Gregor's) birds

In the late eighties of the 20th century, we began to introduce the global form and content of Valentine's in Slovenia. Of course, no one was asked at that time whether we have in our cultural heritage any original content that could enrich this celebration and give it a different, especially regional image. In any case, it is different from the global one, which is still valid as a saying that Valentine's Day is a store! In the Slovene cultural heritage, Valentine's Day was considered an early spring holiday. It was also the first day of bird-hunting in the year, since all birds do not marry one day. On this day early spring (February 14th), children walked from house to house, greeted a good harvest and wondered if there was anything left of a bird's wedding. Housewives, of course, bite the birds of prey for a while and stuck them behind branches of trees and shrubs. So the greetings were directed to the gardens, See if there is anything left. Of course, the children picked up all the birds from the branches and took them to their homes where they were dried; so they had some bread on a cup of warm milk each day. So we can talk about the kind of charity that our ancestors developed. To all residents, especially poorer families, they helped to modestly survive the last weeks of the winter and the first weeks of the early spring. Similar habits were also on Gregorjevo (March 12).
At the same time, we can wonder why we did not know how to transfer some of the contents of both holidays to a modern, global consumer celebration, even though Valentine's Day is devoted only to a loving ...

Hearts Blossom - New Love stamp from USPS

Date of Issue : 10 January 2019

Twelve colorful hearts visually expressing love’s joyful, bountiful nature illustrate the first Forever stamp issued in 2019 by USPS

Hearts Blossom is the latest stamp in the Love series from the U.S. Postal Service. The stamp art features the word "Love" in cursive script below 12 colorful hearts. The color palette — red, purple, orange, and pink — is intended to create a happy and positive feeling. Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp.

There are several theories how the familiar heart-shaped symbol came to be associated with the human heart. However, the symbol’s connection to love is very clear, as the heart is where people believe feelings reside. Today, wherever it appears — as an artistic motif, in religious symbolism, or as an expression of affection or support — a heart is instantly recognizable as a representation of love, whether it be romantic attachment or affection for people, places, causes or ideas.

The Postal Service has successfully captured the essence of love ever since issuing the first stamp in the series in 1973. Although the stamps are released early in the year, they are not just for Valentine’s Day but can be used to deliver love during any season.
