In Summer

Hello Quitefire fans!  Betsy here today sharing a beautiful nature-inspired card using:

Such a wonderful quote!  So to begin I chose the paper I wanted to use and
gathered my materials.

I wanted my card to have a natural organic and summery feel to it.  So I started by
ripping my main panel and inking the sides.  I also made a horizontal rip in from the
right side to peel back to reveal the sentiment.  I inked those edges as well.

Next I took a small piece of what would be my background paper and stamped
my sentiment on it with dark brown ink.  I love the clean crisp
image that stamping with rubber makes!

I ripped the right edge of this small panel and inked it up.  Then I adhered
it behind the patterned panel after curling back the torn edges.

Next I made an A2 size panel from white card stock measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
and adhered my background paper.  I inked those edges as well.  Then I adhered
my patterned stamped panel on top.  Just one little tweak to the eggs in the nest,
they were white...I colored them pale blue.  And my card was finished!

In Summer...

Hello everyone, Yvonne here with a new card.

I can't believe how time flies.....we're heading to the end of  Summer here in Holland....the hydrengeas are fading colors and the leaves are about to change color.
So....I made a card to celebrate summer!
Fresh pastel colors and an amazing stamp by Quietfire Design is all one needs :-))

For my card I used the stamp "In Summer" (SKU5997)...I love this quote.
The sentiment is taped upon white cardstock using black  ink and layered some die-cuts.

By using 3D foam squares you get an amazing 3D effect.

And  I added self-adhesive pearls, a satin ribbon and a bow to finish the card.

By the way...did you know that Quietfire Design has lots and lots of gorgeous ribbons?
Click here to see all the yummy ribbons.

Wishing you all a great day,
enjoy the end of summer and
a big warm hug from a Sunny Holland.

Keeping it Straight - In Summer!

Ever have trouble getting your A Way With Words diecuts straight? It's Suzanne here with a little weekend project sharing a technique to help you out!  It could save you a lot of aggravation!

Here is a little video so you can see it in action.  The tutorial is only a minute long because that's the longest that Instagram will allow!  The video below is full width and can be viewed here or on YouTube.

I love using Glue Dots.  It gives me the flexibility to remove the diecut if I don't quite get it right!
The soapstone pencil which was not necessary for this project can be found on the Quietfire site HERE.
Have any questions?  Just ask in the comments!

Here is the supply list for making this card (the links go to the Quietfire site):

The new Crackle Backround stamp

Hi everyone and welcome to our blog today on this beautiful Thursday.  We are all sharing lots of ideas using the new release of stamps that you can find on the Queitfire blog here.   There are so many beautiful ones i had a hard time choosing but the new crackle stamp really caught my eye so i grabbed a handful of inks and set out to create something fun with it and 2 new other stamps.

Watercoloring is all the rage again so i thought i would try and use different colors and stamps to show the versatility of this new Crackle backround stamp and create a watercolor effect.  I used Tsukineko inks in green, yellow,  and orange to give it a bright and warm summer effect. And i made sure that I didn't press hard in the yellow area so that it would out more muted and was a better color to stamp the In Summer stamp in black.  I just used simple kraft cardstock and matted it and then adhered it to a white card with a little twine i had in my stash.  I really love this new crackle stamp and i hope you will get a chance to try one too.

For this one i used a whole different palette of colors and then matted it in some of the same bright solids to make it pop.  I wanted it to be a little glittery so i sprayed on some pixie dust in a spritzer bottle.  The stamp is from one of the brand new sets called "I don't tell you often enough" and it too has lots of other words to use that would be perfect on their own or with one of the new dies.

Here is a closeup of the crackle card and the stamp is below.  Imagine how much fun you can have with embossing powders or even use a little paint and stamp it on wood.  Guess that's another project i will have to do and share.. Oh and if you love the stamp---You can find it to order here.

Thanks so much for stopping over and have fun creating something beautiful today!!  Teresa

ECD Summer - In Summer the Song Sings Itself - Crackle Background

It's Wanda here on this wonderful Tuesday!!  There are so many fabulous new Quietfire stamps and dies that it was hard to choose which ones to use for today's project but I finally decided on Summer.  It even felt like Summer here in Southern Iowa this holiday weekend and we had sunshine for Memorial Day.

Here's how it was made -

1 - Cut manila cardstock 5" x 7".

2 - Take a piece of Tissue Wrap larger than the cardstock and glue to cardstock with Collage Medium.  Tear off excess along edges leaving any bits that don't tear evenly.

3 - Stamp Crackle Background randomly over Tissue Wrap with Sky Blue.

4 - Paint stamped Tissue Wrap panel with Dylusions paints and dry.

5 - Cut Summer from both black and white cardstock.  Attach words together with the white on top off-setting slightly with the black down and to the left.  Attach to center-bottom of panel.

6 - Stick Washi Tape above word.

7 - Die cut flowers from White Cardstock and trim stems to fit as shown.  Glue to panel.

8 - Stamp quote with Jet Black.

9 - Attach panel to black cardstock and distress edges.

Supply List -

Tissue Wrap - Composer (Tim Holtz idea-ology)
Dylusions Paint - Tangerine Dream, Lemon Zest, Bubblegum Pink (Ranger)
Archival Ink - Sky Blue, Jet Black (Ranger)
Tim Holtz Thinlits Wildflower Dies (Sizzix)
Collage Medium Matte (Ranger)
Washi Tape
