Brayered Embossing Just For You

Happy Tuesday!!  I hope your week is going well so far!!  I have a fun card for you today that would work well for Valentine's Day or anytime.

I've used Quietfire's Tulips rubber stamp and the cutting die set, Just for You.

For the background I've used a brayer, paint, and embossing powder.  I started with brayering a little bit of Fresco Finish Chalk Paint (Guacamoli).  This paint dries very quickly.  I had thought that maybe if I worked quickly some embossing powder would stick, but no.  It worked out well in the end.

Next I brayered some Distress Paint (Picked Raspberry).  This stays wet longer.

I then added Mixed Media Embossing Powder (Punch).  You can see it stuck well to the Distress Paint.

And here it is melted.

I stamped the Tulips with Archival Ink Jet Black onto watercolor paper.  I used the Stamping Platform so I could get a good image on the textured paper.  Color was added with Distress Inks and a water brush.

I die cut them into a deckled rectangle.

Just For You was cut from dark green cardstock and from gold Kraft Metallic.

I also cut a rectangle of the gold Kraft Metallic and ran it through an embossing folder.  The folded base is a gold metallic cardstock.

And there you have it.  A fun, easy card that could have many looks just by changing your paint and embossing powder colors.

One Way to Brayer A Background

Happy Thursday!!!  It's Wanda here today sharing a way to make a background with Distress Oxide reinkers and a brayer.  I love being able to use reinkers for more than just a dry ink pad.

I use very little ink for this.  I don't want to cover the paper but just make random patterns.  I've used a mini brayer but a regular rubber brayer works fine too.  Squeeze a little bit of reinker onto a craft sheet...

... lightly roll the brayer through the ink a couple of times, lightly roll the brayer across the paper multiple times to use all the ink, roll the brayer through any ink left on the craft sheet and repeat rolling across the paper.

Repeat with another color of rinker.  I usually use 2 or 3 colors but maybe your project just needs 1 color or more than 3.

In THIS post I shared about cutting a stencil from a transparency using the Snowfall cut file.  I've used that stencil here to add green dots (Distress Oxide Twisted Citron) to the background.

Random stamping with the Crackle Background.

More Crackle Background with another color.

The stamped quote is from the set, Every Day Is A Journey, Set of 4 Stamps.  It is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black onto Specialty Stamping Paper (Ranger Ink).

The die cut ovals were inspired by the ECD December Designer Challenge found Here.  I really like how some of the designers created layers with the Frame-It/Stitched dies.  Here I've used the ovals.  I cut the circle from my background using the 3rd largest oval.  The next size down oval is cut from Silver Metallic Kraft (Tim Holtz).  The smallest oval is cut from white cardstock and then I inked it with Distress Oxide Wilted Violet and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  I adhered all these layers together and onto my stamped quote panel.

Around the edges of the background I've embossed 2 layers of Mixed Media Powder, Lilac (Ranger Ink).  The background and attached layers down to the quote are adhered to a white panel and then to a folded purple card.

The flowers (ModaScrap Lacy Poppies - ECD) are cut from black cardstock and attached as shown.

Tiny holeless beads are glued in the center of the largest flower.

To finish I've glued on some dew drops.

I hope you like this card.  I'm quite pleased with it.  Please let me know what you think.

Every Leaf Fluttering Resist Card

Happy December!!!  The weather the last few weeks here in southern Iowa has been much warmer than we would expect this time of year but that all changed yesterday.  We got up to a warm, windy day and then the temperatures fell all afternoon and evening for a difference of 40some degrees and now it really does feel like winter out and there is a chance of snow on Friday.  It's all good though!!!

I know we are all thinking about Christmas and creating our Christmas cards but I just couldn't resist making a card using the brand new Leaves set of stamps.  Like I said, it had been warm here - much more like fall than Christmas coming.

My main panel began with glossy white cardstock.  I stamped the leaves with Ranger's Watermark Resist ink and then pulled out one of my old Kaleidacolor ink pads, Autumn Leaves, and a brayer to add the color over the resist.  After brayering on the color, I buffed the surface with a paper towel, spritzed water over the panel, blotted it and dried it.  Beautiful!!!  I used a stamp platform to stamp the quote so I could stamp it multiple times getting the black nice and dark.  I stamped one leaf with black down in the corner and without thinking rubbed over it without first drying the black ink smearing it just a bit.  I went ahead and colored it with a marker but ultimately decided to layer a leaf over it.

I stamped the leaves on a piece of Distress Oxide background I had left over and cut them out.

For the next layer I used Kraft cardstock, embossed it with the Tim Holtz/Sizzix leaves folder, rubbed the Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade ink pad over the panel and then sprayed it with Distress Mica Spray Antique Bronze.

Here we have the card all put together.  The edges of the main panel are distressed and I curled that top left corner because I wrinkled it while distressing the edge.  The leaves are attached with foam tape and the main panel is attached with foam tape.  I put this to the top of the embossed panel and then added Tim Holtz Craft Thread at the bottom.  Everything is attached to a folded black card.

Thanks for following along!!!  I hope you've enjoyed today's card!!!

Hugs, Wanda
