Great dogs, but a few gruesome people!

Today is National Dog Fighting Awareness Day
so we'll be including this and Tuesday's Tails Blog Hop
in the "A to Z Blog Challenge".

 

Dog Fighting is a illegal, but continues to be a large problem throughout the country. We can't understand how this brings pleasure to anyone. The ASPCA works hard to investigate and crack down on dog fighting rings, but we need to build awareness of the problem within our communities.
Unfortunately, the pit bull has become the face of this scourge and their reputation tarnished by irresponsible owners.

Keeping to the letter G, today we would like to introduce you to Gwen,
one of the sweetest pitties you might ever care to meet!

Here's what the Good people at the Newark Humane Society has to say about her:
"Gwen is a petite tan pit and she is a lady on the move. She was very happy to go outside and play with the toys I had. She has beautiful hazel eye's that match her tan coat. She bunks with another dog and they get along fine. Her food test was good, she is some fast eater. And I bet she would love to have a nice big yard where she could run and run and get rid of some of her energy. She takes treats nicely from your fingers. And would appreciate if someone took her to doggie school.

"... Gwen attends the Shelter hikes and everyone loves the great enthusiasm this beautiful girl has. She will make a great hiking or walking companion and friend to whom ever adopts her. She loves to go on the hikes with the volunteers and other doggies."

  We love the wonderful photos, taken by Stacey Gammon of Stacey Gammon Pet Photography, of the adoptable dogs and cats on the Newark Humane Society's Petfinder pages, including this one.

 

Gwen, along with many other wonderful pets are available for adoption at the Associated Humane Societies in Newark, New Jersey. All pets at the shelter are up to date on their shots and will be altered and micro-chipped once they've been adopted.

   The Society offers free DVDs with all cat and dog adoptions at no charge. $300 worth of coupons are offered to each new dog parent and $100 worth of coupons for each new cat parent too!

Since today's letter in the "A to Z Blog Challenge" is F, it's time for a funny story about one of my best friends!

For as long as I've lived here, my friend and his family have lived next door to us. I look for him everytime I'm in my yard *sigh*. For as long as mom has known him, she's called him Ricardo.

Well, he has been very polite and never bothered to correct her. Until one day this winter.

He's helping her dig out our car and when they were finished, she says "thank you Ricardo, you're always helping!". Then he tells her, "That's ok, but you always call me Ricardo. My name is Hugo! But that's ok too! I have an Uncle named Ricardo!"

As far as I'm concerned, he'll always be "Friend" to me 'though!

We've had a busy day here at Chez Prudence, but we needed to continue the "A to Z" Blog Challenge! So today, E is for eking by! Just by the fur on my chin, BOL! 

   Tomorrow is a day off from the challenge, but we hope to participate in the weekend Pet Blog Hop. Mom's doing a transport during the day, but when she gets home I'll be sure to remind her!

Doggy Daycare!

Mom found the Barker Lounge for me way back when I was a puppy and are we glad she did!

I don't get there as often as I used to, but when I do, I have a blast with all my buddies! There are so many benefits of daycare for dogs including socialization with people and other dogs, lots of exercise and playtime, relief from boredom and loneliness. The dogs are assessed and put into groups depending on size, age and activity levels. Just take a guess at what group I'm in, BOL!

Hi buddies!

    The warm weather is finally coming back and that means Coolaroo season is right around the Corner! This year mom hopes to finally start her flock of Chickens. She has the Coop already. It just needs to be painted and assembled.

I've let my *ahem* assistant know she needs to start paying better attention to my blog, so we've joined the "A to Z" Blogging Challenge!

Since today is April 2nd, the letter of the day is B!

 That's right, B as in BlogPaws!

 Because today is the weekly "Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop", we're combining both hops into today's post, baroooo!

       As many of you might know, I often barktend and sometimes spin a few tunes at the occasional Pawty. This year's annual BlogPaws Pawty was held in several weeks ago and as usual, it was a blast! We got to play lots of cool music and hang out with our Twitter pals, including fellow DJs @CathyKeisha & @MaggieTKat; Barktenders @PepperPom, @Whskr, @PepiSmartDog & @RoccoHavanese.      This pawty, hosted by @BlogPaws, benefited the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a shelter in Missouri. Stray Rescue cares for 200 dogs and 100 cats!  *apaws, apaws* 

Then on top of that, we received this special award to thank us for our services! Nice!

     In just a little over a month from now, mom's heading to BlogPaws! She'll be bringing my doppleganger, Flat Prudence along but don't worry. I'll be hanging with my doggy pals at the Barker Lounge, dreaming about Las Vegas!
