Vacation Time

Yes, it's January and with Christmas gone and forgotten I'm already longing for a holiday! So I decided to dig out one of my oldest but best loved Rubber Dance sets and create a card with a travel theme.

I turned to my favourite ever colour scheme - blue and brown again! - and created in a vintage style which I think really suits this particular stamp set.

Here's how I made it:

1) Stamp the Venetian image, 'carte postale' and the postcard onto white card. Watercolour them with Distress Inks and a water brush. I used these colours: Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch, Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo. Crumble the Venetian scene and postcard to age them and ink the edges.

2) Splatter a cream A6 card with Tumbled Glass Distress Spray. Stamp the card with various images in Sepia and Jet Black Archival Inks. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo.

3) Layer the cut pout images onto the card blank with 3D foam for dimension - and you're done. Not a difficult card to create this one :).

Lovely Leftovers

Recently I've been making an effort to use the scraps on my desk when I finish a project and today's make is one of those creations.

This ATC was made from the bits and bobs left over from this project.

In planning for my card I stamped a whole load of images to use for the collaged elements on the cover. So I used those images to create the ATC above. The background is stamped with a postcard image and then simply layered with a variety of stamped images from Rubber Dance. Simple but I think quite effective.

I'll be sharing another leftovers make later this week :).

Enjoy the Journey for Rubber Dance

My turn again for a step-by-step project over on the Rubber Dance blog! Today I made a card (for once), in the shape of a suitcase, as our Design Team theme this month is Travel & Vacation.

As usual, you can find steps for the techniques used over at Rubber Dance.

I am entering this into the Destinations Challenge over at A Vintage Journey, as it's very much Tim Holtz inspired!

Hope you like :)

Rubber Dance July Challenge Reminder

It's time for my mid-month Rubber Dance Challenge inspiration again. This month Bibi has shaken things up a bit and instead of a colour scheme you have a mood board to inspire you. Our optional theme is Travel & Vacation.

My creation is an ATC triptych using the travel theme. I started with three ATC-sized pieces of kraft card and joined them together, leaving a small gap between, with Idea-ology tape front and back.

I created my ATCs by first stamping the main images in Black Archival Ink then masking them and stamping backgrounds using the Vintage Postcard and hotel receipt stamps in Sepia Archival. I then added postage stamps and words in Cobalt Archival. I used permanent ink for my stamping as it doesn't run when you add wet media.

Finally I spritzed my ATCs lightly with Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain and heat dried the ink. Then I added a small amount of Blue Skies Glimmer Mist aiming towards the focal images in each case to further highlight them. Stick the ATCs to your background and you're done!

Best of luck in the challenge!

Am also entering this in the Country View Challenge July: Theme - On Your Travels

See you soon!

Warhol Inspired for Rubber Dance

I've been inspired by Andy Warhol today for this quick and colourful card make, created using TR1-L: Travel set from Rubber Dance. At first glance this set shouts vintage but I wanted to use it in a different way.

I started by dividing my card into four with very light pencil lines, then stamped the image in four different primary shades of Archival, once into each of the segments. To finish I stamped the word 'Discover' in black ink and drew a line around the edge to frame.

Don't forget to play along with this month's challenge over at the Rubber Dance blog.

Hope you like my card - see you soon!

Rubber Dance October Colour Challenge

It's Rubber Dance Challenge time again! This month's colour scheme is a favourite of mine - gorgeously vintage!

My challenge make uses the gorgeous TR1-L: Travel and BK1-RG: Collage Elements 1 stamp sets. My background is stamped with the world image and layered with pages from an old map. Alongside various stamped images from the sets I used some bits of Tim Holtz ephemera.

In this close up you can see how I crumpled or dog-eared and inked some of the stamped elements to age them. Crumple and open out the stamped items before adding sepia and brown toned inks to the edges and creased areas. Don't forget to ink the back of the image too where that part will be visible.

Can't wait to see what you make for the challenge!
