Wishing...

So delighted to have been asked back again to guest design for A Sprinkle of Imagination, this time as part of their 12 Designers of Christmas series - I am in fact last to go but it's well worth a look back through a month of fabby art from lots of talented peeps.

I used stamps from A Sprinkle of Imagination - Stampotique Great Moon and the hare by Crafty Individuals. I also used my own Believe set from Rubber Dance for the sentiment.

I decided to combine the stamps with the opportunity to get more familiar with my DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics. I've actually used these paints a LOT but not usually in a very 'painterly' way, more for adding colour to mixed media pieces. Here I've attempted a form of painting with them ('proper' painters look away now!!!) to create my evening scene.

1) I used two colours of blue for my background - Phthalo Blue and Cerulean Blue (always makes me think of The X-Files that colour!). Blob the paint randomly onto the gessoed canvas then mix with brush then use your fingers to smooth it out.

2) To create the moon, I added a tiny blob of Titanium White to the canvas and smoothed it into a circle shape working from the centre outwards so the white fades out. I added a touch of Hansa Yellow Light over the top of the white while it was still wet and blended it in with my fingers. The snowflakes are simply spots of Titanium White added randomly with the end of a paintbrush.

4) To create the snow add a thick layer of modelling paste textured using a palette knife. Add some Glamour Dust while the paste is still wet. When dry, lightly add washes of Cobolt Turquoise Hue and Silver Metallic paints, just adding the paint here and there. When dry, mute down with a little Transparent White.

5) You can just see I created a 'halo' effect on the snow - as snow reflects the light back up. This is just a wash of Transluscent White applied close to the top edge of the snow and blended upwards.

6) Finally I also painted my stamped images with paints - Hansa Yellow Light for the moon and Raw Sienna for the bunny. I also added Glamour Dust to the moon here and there to give it more shine!

I loved making my canvas - hope you like my moon gazing hare!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!

New Stamps Out Today!!!

I've got a new stamp plate out today over at Rubber Dance - called The Artist. I personally love this plate - perfect for all arty types! I especially love the brushes, they are a nice BIG stamp.
My card is a really quick and simple one today, just to show you one idea with the set. I stamped the brushes in black then roughly masked them off, not masking the bristles part of the image. I then sprinkled three colours of Brushos lightly and sprayed with water. Once heat set that's the card more or less done - I just added the Make Art sentiment on foam pads to finish.

See you soon!

My new stamp releases

Two more of my stamp designs have been released by Rubber Dance this week! Woop woop! This first one is called Sew Sweet and is a cute sewing-themed set. I love anything sewing themed - which is ironic, since I cannot use a sewing machine for toffee!

My next set is one Bibi asked me to design specifically for her - a set of Christmas sentiments called Christmas Cheer & Tags. It's designed so that some of the greetings fit onto the stamped tags - so you can use them to make your own really quick gift tags as well as for your seasonal cards. This is a mini set (13 x9cm).

Hope you like!?

Available over at Rubber Dance - she ships to the UK for a very reasonable flat rate too!

New Rubber Dance stamps - one by meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Am very happy Bibi has chosen one of my stamp designs to release this month!!!

I ADORE this set of BIG words called Affirmations. A lot of the smaller words can be used with the large ones or you can use either on their own. Hoping this will be a versatile one! I really hope you like it.

My lovely teamie Susanne Rose has designed two gorgeous Christmas sets too.

Cozy Christmas

And Frosty Friends

The actual size of the stamp sheets is 13 x 18 cm (5 x 7 inches).

You can find these new stamps in the Rubber Dance web shop.
If you prefer to shop via Etsy, you'll find the new Rubber Dance Etsy store here.

See you soon!

Botanical Tag for Rubber Dance

Been playing with my Inktense Pencils and Antique Botanicals stamps for this week's Rubber Dance DT make. I went for a simple tag that's very flowery indeed!

My background is stencilled with a woodgrain effect then layered over with a trellis die cut. I then simply coloured, cut and layered the various flower and butterfly images. I used PinFlair glue to give the blooms a bit of oomph.

I'm getting grips with my Inktense Pencils now and I really love the vibrancy and how well they blend. I've discovered the type of card used can make a big difference to the end result too. They don't really like coated card much. I used a waterbrush for my blending - super quick and easy - I coloured this lot while I sat in front of the TV! :)

Hope you like my little hint of spring!

Another journal page and a very special card

Another journal page, made as per the plan from leftover scraps. These are the rejects from a recent Craft Stamper project (decided against the colour scheme) so I've just stuck them in the book. It's not turning out to be a journal really, just a collection of randomness! I never was one for introspection so I doubt you'll ever see writing on these pages. This page is MUCH more 'me' in style.

Another card

Another card using the same colour tones as yesterday but this time using my Gone Postal stamps instead. Dead simple card - on the card base I masked and layered up the 'label' stamps to add some decoration and stamped an ordinary cheap office date stamp repeatedly down the side. I then just added the punched/stamped paper panel and the greeting.

Not feeling very talkative today so shall leave it at that!

Got my sticky mitts on the Nanny's Day Off set today - woop woop!

My very own stamps!!!

I can hardly believe it (still pinching myself!) but my very first set of stamps went on sale today, as part of the Toodles & Binks range. I've been working hard alongside Kay Bolton (who has been a dream to work with, talk about low pressure!) to bring out a range of retro and vintage themed stamps. It happened kind of by accident following an off-the-cuff conversation and I am quite surprised how much I have enjoyed creating the plates.

The first release is available over at Stamp Galaxy right now! I've yet to get my sticky mitts on them but am very much looking forward to creating some samples very soon.

My next set is much more vintage in style and should be out in the next week!

Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
