My New Creation!

Happy Fourth of July! :)

Today, I'm posting something that's only connected with Stampin' Up! in that I used Basic Black card stock in the project - but I absolutely LOVE this, and have to share it with you! :D

I saw a project on Pinterest that I really would love to do for a birthday party some day, but it will cost me a little bit for frames.

However, it really sparked me. :D

The base on this is one of those Febreeze bases with a flickering light in it; you put the scented shade around it, and it looks like a decorative votive candle thing.

Well, the sleeves are a little strong for my family, so I had this base lying around. Since I've cleaned out my studio, things don't lie around as much as they have in the past, and I told myself to either find a use or get rid of it.

Get rid of it?!?! That goes against every packrat instinct I have! :D Repurpose it is!

So, I printed out four of my vertical beach pictures from February's trip onto vellum card stock. I cut the Basic Black card stock to the correct length and width, then cut windows into it. I attached the vellum inside the windows with glue dots; I should have left a little more vellum around the edges for easier adhering, but that's a lesson learned for next time. :)

I love this. It's a quiet reminder of a wonderful trip, and my favorite place on Earth. Oh, and I got Volume 1 of my scrap book from the trip. You really need to stop by and see them both. :D

Have a WONDERFUL day, and be sure to make the time to stamp SOMEthing! :D

It was a beautiful trip!

We had a GREAT time when we got to play, and we worked HARD when we were working. :D I HIGHLY recommend the Huntsville Botanical Garden - it was BEAUTIFUL! Such an interesting, beautiful place! HOT, though. I still prefer my Pacific Northwest beaches. :D

This picture, of course, isn't from there. :D This is Fort Walton Beach, at the top of the stairs down to the beach from our hotel. I got to spend about 5 minutes there, taking pictures and videoing the water with my FLIP before a rainstorm chased me off and we had to leave for home.

I got some new toys today, and I'll be playing with them for future classes. :D Stay tuned - tomorrow will be another great post. :) Enjoy the photo today - and be sure to take the time to STAMP something! :)

One more scrapbook layout! :)

OK, this is the LAST layout from LAST month's scrapbooking class. I REALLY like the way this one turned out, and that's why I saved it for last. :) I know I've been posting a lot of simple cards lately; the show has worn me out - if you'd like to see some photos from it, read a little bit about it, you can check out my other blog, http://www.wannabethatgal.blogspot.com. :)
ANYWAY. This is using Brocade Blue card stock and Whisper White ink. We dragged the ink pad along the card stock in the direction we wanted the boards to go, then drew in the boards and nail heads with our white gel pen - which is an AWESOME gel pen!!! The "cherish" is from the Cherished Memories Rub-Ons in the Spring/Summer IB&C.
We used the distressor tool on the cutter kit to distress the edges of the Creamy Caramel mats, then used Creamy Caramel ink and a sponge to add even more distressing. That's natural hemp tied around the mats; we used paper snips to age the hemp a bit, so it would feel worn, too.
The following is the 6x6 layout, using the same exact techniques:

As you can see, we only tied the hemp around the journaling box, because the photo mats can't be as big on this size layout.
So, what do you think? Do you like it as much as I do? :D I really had a great time with these techniques, and ANYTHING that says "beach" is beautiful to me. :)
What are YOU working on??? Are YOU stamping? I am, but it's for a swap - so I can't show you until AFTERWARD. :D
Please! Not for MY sake, but for YOURS! Take the time to STAMP something! It's therapeutic! :D Have a WONDERFUL day!

Is it vacation time yet? :D

I don't know why, but I'm dragging these days. Ugh! I could use another three weeks on the beach. :D Anyone want to sponsor me? LOL!
ANYWAY. This card is one of three we made at a party on Saturday. I LOVE this wheel; it's the Watercolor Vine jumbo wheel, done in Mellow Moss on Very Vanilla. Sometimes I'll use just those two colors, but I added some Bravo Burgundy, and I think I've found one of my new Christmas color combinations! Isn't it pretty? And every single piece of card stock is notched with the ticket corner punch. :D LOVE that little thing!
Local readers, if you haven't been receiving my email newsletter, please let me know if you'd like to! Just email me at poohisstampin@aol.com, and I'll put you on the list. I've got classes galore for the next two months, and I KNOW you'll be sorry if you miss a couple of them, for SURE! I like to think the newsletter is worth your time reading! :)
OK, time to jet. LOTS to do today! Don't forget - make the time, TAKE the time, to STAMP something!!!!!!!!!!! :D

It's our last full day at the beach.

And it is a BEAUTIFUL, AWESOME, GLORIOUS day here in Depoe Bay, Oregon. The water is a beautiful shade of Bordering Blue, the wind is blowing the sweet air inland, and I am so grateful for the rest we've been able to get!

Ken has gone to Newport again, to try and get a few more photos of the tall ships going out to sea. We purchased some fresh crab for dinner; it's record-breaking prices this year, but weve been very frugal all week so we could do this one thing. Dungeoness crab is one of the sweetest crabs I've ever eaten, and I'm looking forward to our feast tonight. :)

I'm going to have to start packing soon, and that always makes me sad - but we've had a wonderful time here. If you ever get to the Oregon coast, I HIGHLY recommend the Surfrider Resort in Depoe Bay. Tell them I sent you! :)

Please pray for Sean again; he went back to the hospital Friday. It's not as bad as first feared; they took him off an antibiotic a bit prematurely, from what Dad told Ken. But he still needs our prayers for healing! THANK YOU!

We had a funny thing happen last night. We realized that we aren't leaving until TUESDAY morning! :D So we get an extra day in Portland, to get those shots we didn't get. I'm glad; we're going to kind of rush to get out of here in the morning, to get to Vancouver to meet with the kids for lunch, and now we can take our time the NEXT morning, instead of rushing to get to the airport - and hurry up and wait again. :D We are so blessed!!!!!!!!

Starting the sad countdown until we leave.

It's Thursday. We leave the beach Sunday, then leave for Nashville again on Monday. I absolutely love it here; the temperature is perfect, the food is fresh, and the water has great moods! :)
If you think you MIGHT recognize this ship, it's probably true! :D There are two tall ships in Newport this week - and I THINK it's this one that was used in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!! COOL, huh??? They're in town to let people take a look at them - and some lucky people get to go to sea on them, like this voyage. The ship is on its way out the river mouth to the Pacific Ocean. We just happened to see it on our way to lunch today, from the Oregon State University ocean center in Newport. And were BLESSED to get some gorgeous photos!
I'm starting to plan my next 10/10/10 class cards; it won't be long after I get back that I'll have to get to work! If you have a type of card you'd like to see on my Stampin' Up! site - http://poohisstampin.stampinup.net - please let me know! I've got a party the day after I get home, and it will be jumping right back in with both feet! I'll also be scrapbooking a LOT when I get home; I've got both our and Kaisa's memory books to work on. :) I hope you'll check out the schedule on my site, and come scrap with me sometime!

A beautiful day on the beach!

It's in the mid-50s and sunny this afternoon on the central Oregon coast. This is Yaquina Head Lighthouse, in Newport. It was a little overcast this morning, but the sun broke thru late in the morning and it's absolutely glorious now.
We spent yesterday watching whales right off our deck. It was so much fun!
I have GREAT news to share with you today! Sean, the little boy I wrote about yesterday, went HOME this morning!!!!!! He still needs prayer, because his lung is getting more damage with each attack, but I KNOW his family is thrilled to have him home! Please keep praying for them, and support their project.
My mom called today to tell me my stamping area's redo is going well! I can't wait to get home and get organized - and start stamping again! I've gotten a sneak peak at the sneak peak brochure from Stampin' Up!; there are some really fun things, and I can't WAIT for the new Idea Book & Catalog to come out in July!!!!!!!! I also am looking forward to stamping when I get home. :) I just wish home were the Oregon beach....

It was a beautiful wedding....

Isn't she beautiful? This is my stepdaughter, Kaisa. I'll post another picture of her and my new son-in-law, Jeff. The butterfly pin on her veil was her "something borrowed". We took SO MANY PHOTOS that it's proving difficult to choose the very best to highlight! I took this shot; I promise I'm not that biased, but she was more giving and thoughtful of everyone else around her than any other bride I've worked with!
We're at the beach now, "decompressing". It is SO peaceful and beautiful - I'm going to find it hard to go home. I am definitely going to enjoy every moment here!
Tomorrow, I'll probably post a photo of the beach - maybe a lighthouse, or something else glorious! :)
Let me know what you think of my portrait of Kaisa!
